SFV Lounge: I'm still alive. Sakura's alt is kinda cute

I don’t like 3d fighters

You got Noctis what more do you need

…a character that’s actually fun to play instead?

Julia is extremely fun. Requires some execution too if you like that kinda thing.

You like air dashers, there’s no hope for you. :man_shrugging:t4:

Neither did I before I got into Tekken, actually.

Noctis is fun to play!

He’s the only reason I even own the game

I… do not agree. He’s probably the one time I actually thought a T7 character wasn’t entertaining to play, and this is coming from someone that enjoys playing notable killjoy characters like Kazumi and Jack.

Good thing you bought the game though, more money for our Bamco overlords to make more T7 seasons :o

I think Kazumi is fun and I’m glad she’s in the game because alongside Katarina she was also a great beginner character.

Kazumi also looks a lot cooler than Kat, who just looks stupid AF. Kat’s one of the few characters I refuse to play just because of her visual design, bleh.

Kat is hot, shut you’re face!

Probably good I saved my money then.

Not all those forgotten games are actually classics.

She looks like a mid-range prostitute, and her fighting style looks like something she imitated from the pimp that’s been slapping her around.

And yet the 2 FGs I played the most this generation are not anime

This,
It took me a solid minute to even remember who the hell Katarina was after she was married mentioned, on the other hand Kazumi has been an instant hit with me in terms of design.
Kat is generic and forgettable

Yep. It is a bit of a bummer because from what I remember reading the full game series is pretty good. At my craziest I was debating importing the other chapters just to play them but I never got around to it before I came to my senses.

The “best” thing about the English release of Shining Force 3 you can get from YouTube: they recorded lines for the combat interactions - at least the spells, maybe more - and since it was released in '98 the voice acting for those lines is something else. Even as a big Shining Force fanboy at the time I knew it was hilarious trash.

I’ve definitely been a dummy a few times on stuff like that.

But sometimes those imports/translations are worth it. Example, Mother 3.

Now I just need a version of VC3 in eng that isn’t a mess to get working.

The two times I bit on imports were:

X-Men vs. SF on Saturn (with the RAM cart) and Chrono Cross.

X-Men vs. SF was an awesome investment. That was back when I had friends who would come over and play so we would just run games of that over and over and over.

Chrono Cross was at my height of JRPG craziness. I couldn’t wait for the “sequel” to Chrono Trigger and I had a guide handy to help me through where to go for the plot. I translated all of the spells and abilities so I’d know what I’d be doing in combat. Played through 1/4 to 1/3 of the game that way. Then played it a shitload when it released in English, partially just to finally enjoy being able to read the damn thing.

I’ve never been crazy enough to buy a game i couldn’t read… but I’m not always smart. Some examples. I own:

  • Virtual Boy
  • CD-I
  • 3DO
  • Burning Rangers
  • 32X
  • Wii U

I love Chrono cross. It’s in with FF8 and Legend of Dragoon in that it’s a very flawed rpgs from that era which I like in spite of the problems.

Imagine how I felt playing X-Men Vs SF on PS1.

All excited to jump into it…then you realize you can’t tag out, so it feels like a 1v1 game. And all types of cut animations. Loading times are expected, but damn, everything else made me wanna cry.
