Because that’s where I need to be at. If I have any hope of being good I need to at least hit where Doctrine Dark managed to get to. It’s a good competitive baseline.

Regarding the rest, I don’t believe I have a solid foundation. I just can’t see it when I make way, way too many mistakes at neutral, poor anti-airs, absolutely awful whiff punishing, terrible at confirming, terrible at approaching, bad at defense…that’s why the praise about what I’m “good” at feels hollow.

Sadly not tonight. Schedule went pear shaped in the way I hoped it wouldn’t.

Gonna try for the weekend.

I’m just happy I am finally going to see some KoF XV at Evo.
Would like to see a new mainline BB as well, but there has been no word about it, so unless they are the masters of keeping things under wraps that ain’t happening.
I wonder if French bread is going to take advantage of being on the main stage… Melty switch port!

Just to be clear, it’s not where you need to be at, it’s where you want to be at. Secondly, “good” here is obviously relative. I don’t see people claiming you don’t make mistakes, or that you’re perfect, I believe they mean that “for a player with your degree of experience, this is good progress”. I’m sure there are a lot of flaws in your game, but there are also things you are doing correctly based on the knowledge that people critiquing you have of the game. Even once you reach the level/ rank you aspire to, then what? There are plenty of players at that level who wouldn’t be able to win a tournament, or who would drown in pools at a major, or lose a high stakes set. If you get that result despite your rank, would you be able to feel like you’re “good”? Tokido for example is considered extremely good and he probably still thinks about that ft10 he lost to Daigo, still thinks about how far he has to go. There’s always going to be someone better, but if you approach things with this comparative mentality, you’re just going to keep feeling awful and inadequate rather than focusing on the growth you need to reach that level.

Do you feel like the negativity you aim at yourself really helps you grow? Do you honestly feel that the best way to improve is to ignore the small victories you get while learning the game? When was the last time you felt satisfied with something you did in game?

If you’re ok with how you’re doing things and how you feel about the game then I guess it’s nothing to worry about. I’m only writing all this because it doesn’t feel like you’re having a good time.

Whoa. SNK is gonna reveal kof xv during Evo??

It’s a guess, we already know it’s scheduled for a 2020 release, they have a main stage game this year, I expect them to take the opportunity

GGs @jokee and @marlononmilk

gg, drop the game for a few months and i lose what little skill i had

I just want to be at a decent level, one where I can give anyone at least a decent match. Not necessarily win events or anything. Just one where I can help people learn, or help better players train. Doctrine’s level is just the baseline I set.

I’m nowhere close to that level right now and need to push myself harder to achieve it. I’m tired of being useless to the better players in here and to the better players at events. I can’t help anyone if I’m garbage.

It’s done more for me than being positive ever has.

Probably never.

If I’m satisfied I’m doing something wrong.
