Those praises might just be encouragement.
Let me approach that anecdote from the boss’ side.
If I found out my staff were spending their time trying to improve something that was working rather than something that was broken… I would be frustrated.
You have to be able to acknowledge success, so you know what things you need to pay attention to/work on. If you look at your play and see “everything” as a failure than I don’t think you are being realistic.
Example, remember the famous Gahndi match? For as insane as gahndi was being, he was actually doing some things right.

SF5 is a goat game.
It has provided you with hundreds of hours of entertainment via participation in this forum.
One of the best things to have happened in your life is the release of this game because you spend an awful lot of time discussing it.

Oh I enjoyed the game for it’s first year, then I got bored and became a nomad, then I went to anime.
It’s still entertaining to see so much blind faith in a developer team that does nothing but fuck things up in succesion.
But hey, you have to keep SF somewhat alive, since you have/can play nothing else.
Game was pretty busted the first year ,not sure what you talking about.
Sure, a lot of busted shit now as well but i don’t want to see S1 Chun , Nash ever again.
Busted shit makes the game enjoyable.
Not everyone should be waterd down, everyone should be bonkers.
Make everyone strong with lots of powerfull tools.

So by that logic, if everything is broken, nobody is.It’s sound.
