Right I getcha. My joke is that they’ve always been like this. The internet gives people more access/a voice but the best and worst parts of any hobby/scene are always the fans. You can’t love something without it making you at least a little crazy. Some people don’t modulate that very well.
Also not at all unique to video games. I’ve seen people flip their shit similarly in the miniature wargaming world. Video games just have a broader scope so you get more people who can piss in the pool.
For the record I think the people who do shit like bother Ono about SF stuff when he is mourning his dog or talking about his health should be clubbed. But I also don’t see it as a new phenomenon, even with the vehemence we see.

His playstyle would really have to be “outside of the box” for him to stand out. As purely visually, he overlaps with several gangster SF characters.
Also, as mentioned before, there is little to no accountability on the Internet, so the parts of your brain that govern weather something is appropriate can turn off.
I don’t like viewing it as “who people really are”, because that carries a lot of baggage with it that I don’t think bears out logically. At the very least, the Internet just provides people a way to make an ass of themselves with few consequences.
While I don’t fully agree with this, you could make the argument, that when you put something on an online environment, you know what you are getting into.
This is why Harada is cool. If you just say “Don’t Ask Me For Shit” then people can’t give you shit when they ask you for shit.

It’s soooooo fucking hard man I’ve been gaining points for some reason and it still feels like it’s impossible to go further. Because of this it’s fucking stressful for everyone. There was an Ultra Diamond Cammy I ran into like 4 times last night (MossHD) This guy used body my shit back when I just started creeping up into Diamond and I could never really hang with him. Yet the 4 times I ran into him in rank which was practically back to back (Thanks match making!) I was destroying this guy. He wasn’t even doing dumb Cammy shit either and was even doing some of the shit Wesker does to me and he was still losing. I can’t even really explain why he was doing so bad because I don’t even know why I was doing so good. It’s all just one big black vortex of winning and losing

Easiest way to rank up is to beat multiple people 2 0 and get 10+win streaks. AKA already be better than everyone you’re playing or abuse something that everyone that isn’t a UGM will fall for over and over.
If you get a lot of 2 1s you can rank up that way also, but way slower and more potential to get put back into hell if you’re close to demotion levels.
I actually don’t believe at all that it is “who people really are”. I think in the vast majority of cases it is “who they wish they could be”. Its like the Matrix that way. Projection of ideal identity.
Also I do at least partially agree with the idea of being mindful that anything that is on the internet is…still on the internet. Some communities and environments are better than others but it is all still out there.
On a more generally positive note, how are you feeling about SF chars? Settling into Zeku?
I thought I had things locked down a bit more but actually had a lot of fun playing Kolin so now I’m sorta like
