It’s not just the awkwardness problem. The issue was also that at a lot of times English VAs don’t even pronounce the special moves names, not even during the EX versions.
Like, for example, Ryu
In Japanese, he says “tatsumaki” during normal Tatsu
in English, he just shouts “hhaaaaaahh!”
Or Ken:
In Japanese, Ken shouts something like “soooorah!” during Tatsu
in English, he says “try this on for size!”. Like, wtf?
Both did good in the cutscenes and anime prologues/endings though
Shoryuken is seen in many Capcom, and even other developers’ games in general, so no wonder you see something similar in DMC
True, I just remembered though he actually has a move like Shinryuken on top of Shoryuken and Shin Shoryuken. The move he has is even called “Rising Dragon” so it’s not like a “Shoryuken-like” move. The Shin Shoryuken move is called Real Impact though.
Although they’re not costumes in the strict sense of the word, would you people like if there were PS Plus exclusive colors like in Xrd? They use playstation colors, Black and Neon-blue, and they’re some of the best in the game IMO, Venom’s lightcue is baller and Axl’s blue Kusarigama is sick.
This I certainly wouldn’t mind. Just a small little thing to emphasize the platform exclusivity, nothing is being cut from the game, and the color scheme generally looks good
In SfxT Ryu says "tatsumaki senpsuyaku!"
Ken is the same way. Though his Ex version says “Try this on for size!!!”
I’m glad they didn’t completely copy and paste what the JPN say right over to the english. Because what things say in JPN sometimes don’t come out good when they are said in english and vice versa sometimes. To me anyways.
I don’t want any novelty outfits at all. They ruin the design of the game. I mean, it’s retarded, they put effort making good character designs and cool settings and it all goes to the thrash when a character steps in a party outfit or a furry suit. If at least you could disable them from showing when the opponent picks them…
There are lots of outfits that the characters could actually wear and fight in while staying in-character. A lot of characters would benefit from modern sports clothes or casual wear, some tactical outfits for Chun Li and friends…
Some novelty outfits or outfits that lay homage to characters from other games/movies/franchises is fine but I agree the majority of outfits should be in-character.
So, eventhubs asked readers for opinions for Capcom @ E3, and I posed the question if Capcom would ever allow fans to vote on which costumes they would like . Like they show some concept designs and we get to vote. if you look at the SF20 The Art of Street Fighter book you’ll see a lot of sick designs that in my opinion could have made much better alternate costumes than what we got. Anyway, I hope old costumes will return already included. Every version of DOA has more than 10 costumes, many from past games.
So to join my Juri brethren! The first one, she looks so boss! The second one she looks like she’s competing in an underground tournament ala Bloodsport.
