You know, the more people talk about whoāll get cut or worry about who wonāt make it into SFV, the more I come to realize we probably wonāt have to worry since thereāll just be Super Street Fighter V a year or 2 after anyway.
10 characters? Thatās really pushing it in terms of low quantity.
16 is the bare minimum iād go with, or that would please me. With 20, iād be very happy. The arcade release of SFIV saw 16 characters but it was crazy unbalanced(OP sagat, worthless claw). If we get 16 characters to begin with but the game is as balanced and deep as mark of the wolves, iāll be hyped beyond belief.
As for new characters, iām wishing for fresh, new playstyles such the one c. viper introduced to the franchise, but not some janky-ass crap like Fuerte. Thatās really pushing into darkstalkers territory.

"As for new characters, iām wishing for fresh, new playstyles such the one c. viper introduced to the franchise, but not some janky-ass crap like Fuerte. Thatās really pushing into darkstalkers territory" Now that you mention it, Iāve noticed that El Fuerte plays pretty similar to BB Hood with him utilising her trademark dash loops and just constantly staying on the move.
16 I could live with and then 4 for each new version. So if there was 4 DLCs spread out over 4 years, that would make a full cast of 32, which is manageable. You need to start low though, so that more people can keep up with all the matchups. I know itās not a problem for elite players and even very good ones, but for the āaverageā guy/girl who only spends a couple hours a week playing SF it is.
The āaverageā guy/girl who only spends a couple hours a week playing SF probably donāt give excessive fucks about match-up knowledge
And sure for him find a character he like in the game is a superior selling point, wich actually have better chances with a larger cast
Also 4 dlc spread equally throught 4 years(if this is what you mean) sound kinda ridicolous, the casual is willing to pay decent money the game when is the new cool shit (so starting version) or when is still relatively fresh and getting a power up(first dlc)
32 itself sound like a good final number if cast is well done
Even 25 can be cool if they chose right, and do a coherent cast instead follow online polls, screming fanbases, wierdos searching waifus and whatever
Imho it will be better a decent start number (around 20), and then reach some kind of āalmost completeā version (for SF4 imho SSF4 represent that point, even if got successive additions) in the range of 1-2 years
You start strong, and you give a strong 2nd round too
Iām not saying title support should not last 4+ years, i say the focus should be more one first times and let the community keep things going on (buying minor dlc updates, costumes and whatever)
Basically not far from how they managed the life of SF4, just a little bit more quality>quantity in terms of updates, and less bs physical super-2012-ultra-final versions of the same game
I like most of SF characters so it really doesnāt matter who will be. Iād just obviously give more chances to characters that didnāt appear in USF4. Q, Oro, Birdie, Sodomā¦
Not include Ken for them make no sense (and personally i give no fucks about Ken).
Heās one of the most iconic, have huge player/fanbase and once you did Ryu it request probably less work than some other extremely different characters⦠and at the same time heās a safe money bet for them
Also even just see how Ryu look more slow-heavy hitter oriented than ever, make interessing see how they will push on Ken as speed-combo oriented counterpart with fire theme V-trigger
But my point was that no, Ken being in a trailer where seconds after appear twice the only character that got āconfirmedā as cut is not proof of anything
Ken is likely in because many other factors suggest so
ps: said that an interessing question may be if he will be in from the start or not, Capcom know they can gain a lot of $$$ with him in the first wave of dlc, but at the same time have him in the start cast will be a safer move
