I honestly don’t care anymore who they’re revealing? And that’s not in a cynical, pessimistic way just because I’m not getting my mains but f’real I want Makoto and Elena eventually Capcom, everybody revealed so far genuinely looks different kinds of fun.
The new characters are where it’s really gonna be at for me. Except maybe Super Saiyan God Ichigo Necalli.
I think that, they are taking a story focused approach to the char roster
so far many of the chars revealed seem important story-wise(Ryu,Chun,Vega,Cammy,Charlie,Bison(duh),Necalli and maybe Birdie has a role to play in the story as well, due to his past involvement with shadaloo)
With that in mind, I think the final 3 returning spots are
Balrog
Urien
and Juri
R. Mika redesign imminent!
I don’t know what the hell everyone is on about with this Blanka nonsense.
Let’s be honest, that video with Ono “teasing” Blanka for the Brazil Game Show was a hard bait-and-switch. That was some straight clowning. Ono has never made a character hint that obvious, period.
What this actually means is either we’re either getting a new character, or Sean/Oro is returning.
Also: to hell with all y’all. An R.Mika reveal would be hype.
The stage being Rio makes me think it’s not Blanka.
I like the Santos stage > Rio stage theory someone posted about Sean stages, but he’s a shoto. If he’s returning I expect him to get a full redesign.
Just because there is a Brazil stage suggests somebody in the roster will be representative of the stage, even though stages aren’t personalized.
How many total characters do you all think will eventually make it in? Ultra had 44, SFxT had about 50. My guess is around 35-40.

As long as it takes many years for there to be that many I could live with it.
I’d rather see like 28-32 at max and it would be great for something like 1/2 - 2/5 to be brand new characters.
I expect like 36+ and only 1/4 to be new though.
But Ono might be on that 7th Yomi layer and purposely trolling us with expecting to not believe that he would so obviously reveal blanka at a Brazil game show with the Brazil stage in a Blanka costume. He knows we think that is too obvious.
Then bam, Blanka hits us any ways
Despite him not being on my top 5 list for characters, I would love an SF5 Blanka. His Omega version was weird though. I hope he’d be drastically different from both USF4 and Omega versions.
Edit: Also we need a pianoing/hands character. People who’ve practiced this technique and mastered it are going to be disappointed if there isn’t even 1 character who makes use of it.
I think Necalli was our Blanka substitute for this game. I can’t see them giving us two “wildmen” in the initial roster.
This of course means we’re gonna get Jimmy instead of Blanka. He will be the classiest of fighters.

In about 5-6 years from now (when both PS4 and Xbox One will be reaching their 7th year on the market), we’ll start hearing rumors about next consoles
Sony and Microsoft send out prototypes/dev kits to Capcom shortly before announcing new hardware at E3 2020/E3 2021
By that time, SF5 will have a cast of ~35 characters depending on the character release schedule and will only be getting balance updates, no more roster additions

Blanka should just stay the fuck away from the initial roster, I just can not believe Ono would tease a character with such blatant “hints”. For all we know it could be Laura (and it better be imo >__>).
As for R.Mika, well I’m not the biggest fan of her but I’m not going to pretend that I don’t want certain characters that haven’t returned in so long, like Q or Karin for example. So I can sympathize with people who want her back, but…
If I had to pick between these 2 and Juri… Juri all the way… if R.Mika really is returning she only has 3 more chances of making it in (I’m still optimistic she’s in though, there are so many reasons for her to be in that makes sense). For now the only character I’d want to play is Nash, I just need my girl >.>…
Also just for a heads up, I believe they said that we’d know the entire roster before the end of the year, so what I think they will do is reveal a returning character along with a new character from now on. Just a thought I’ve been having for a while that makes sense imo (if they choose to reveal 2 characters per month that is).
They can steadily drop 4-5 a year to allow the game to develop or they can dump 10 characters in one update, four in another then nothing for 3 years.
