Good video for seeing the ranges on karas. They all give you at least better than “having to breathe on your opponent” range.

Seems like its kinda split as to who thinks throws are too good or not good enough. I’m just personally not a fan of short throw ranges since my 2 favorite SF games are 3S and ST which both have ways to extend throw ranges or generally have fast walk speeds for the characters that don’t have large ranges. It keeps it so all characters have a legit mix up that doesn’t go too far into vortex territory as they get in.
Word is they’ve nerfed the range or completely removed Chun’s f+MP kara throw in the newest build with Vega and Necalli. Which I was hoping they wouldn’t as Combofiend initially advertised it, but since the natural throw ranges are pretty short and her kara throw was the longest by a significant margin, that’s what ended up happening. Seems like each character has quite a few buttons that can be kara’d so I guess there’s more to experiment with there.
**As far as the characters go, I just have this feeling that the chances of anyone 3S getting in at launch are really low. **Especially considering there are only going to be 16 at launch. Remember what has been set in stone is that 4 characters are going to be completely new to the IP just like SFIV’s Rufus, Viper, Abel and Fuerte or SF2’s Cammy, Dee Jay, Fei Long and T.Hawk. We once again are going to have 4 new warriors who already take up 4 slots that could have been used for anyone in 3S.
To me the list below just kinda screams blue balling us with 3S characters as post release DLC.
So again in that green portion you have
1.Ryu
2.Chun Li
3.Bison
4.Cammy
5.Ken
6.Vega
7.???
8.???
In the purple portion you have
1.Necalli
2. Guaranteed new IP
3. Guaranteed new IP
4. Guaranteed new IP
In the blue portion you have
1.Birdie
2.Nash
3.???
4.???
From looking at that the 3S characters can only fit in the question marks. For the 8 character green portion, it’s looking really obvious that those characters all seem to be characters that are trademark SF2 characters. There’s nobody that debuted in Alpha or 3S in that portion. With Ono teasing Blanka’s release for the Brazil Game Show coming in October (that also reveals the Brazil stage), it’s very likely Blanka is going to be one of those 8. Leaving only one spot left for a 3S character to randomly show up next to Blanka which is pretty unlikely IMO. That list seems almost solidified as a world warriors/SF2 list.
Can’t have anyone from 3S in the purple portion as that is new characters to the IP only.
Leaves you with the blue portion which already has Nash and Birdie. This may be the only spot where adding 2 characters from 3S would make a lot of sense as this could be the “returning warriors from past games” slot. It’s just the fact that 2 of them already being characters that either debuted or are prominently known as Alpha characters being revealed also suggests that this may just be a returning Alpha character list. The big thing we can see so far is that both of these Alpha characters are characters that were not playable in SFIV.
Basically I only see the blue Birdie/Nash spot as the only area that a 3S character would return, but it could easily just be an Alpha character list or returning SF1/Alpha character list. Really don’t see a SF3 character appearing in the green portion as 75 percent of that list is world warriors already. 0 percent chance in the purple list of course. Honestly that list makes the chances of a SFIV New Warrior entering at launch slim also.
