its a pity of the cast is rehashed shit from SF2. I mean sure, they have been reimagined, and I really like Vega’s new look but its just goddamn boring.
I would honestly not mind if the game was delayed a further 2/3 months if it means we get more non-SF2 characters. I dont know how long it will take to make a new character from scratch, but I wont even mind a 6 month delay if we get at least 4 other characters from the get go.
The alternative is that they release DLC pretty much straight away after release. This might be possible if some of the other characters they couldnt complete were around say… 60% complete?
Sadly I think we will get 1 SF3 and 1 SF4 character which is hella bullshit especially since there are so many great SF3 characters which have been been seen for a while (Alex, Urien, Neco, Oro etc). Ive completely given up on seeing Eagle & Maki in this shit anytime soon.
Edit: As an aside, I think the DLC content will be similar to Killer Instinct in that I expect around 8 new characters per season. I would say of those, maybe 1/2 will be brand new, 1 will be from each previous series that was in USF4 (and maybe a popular character) and 1 will be something we havent seen for a while/dont expect. I also expect a quarter to be “females”. Each character will be as diverse from each other as possible. An example would be the following:
Gen (SF1 Returning)
Dhalsim (SF2 Returning)
Dudley (SF3 Returning)
Urien (SF3 New)
Karin (SFA Returning)
Sodom (SFA New WTF)
C.Viper (SF4 Returning)
Brand New (SF5 New)
8 new characters per season would mean they’d have to release them either each month, or every 2 months in pairs. Personally I don’t think Capcom is capable of doing that, and it would bring balance changes to the game to accommodate the new members so that the initial roster wouldn’t be weak or too strong in comparison. 1 character every 3-4 months or 2 characters every 5-6 months seems a little better. After all, we don’t want the roster to end up with 44 faces like Ultra SF4 again, do we?
Expect characters to be coming every few months. I say expect 4 to 6 characters a year at the minimum. There’s what we want as far as balance, but we are still the competitive minority and in the end the game and Capcom is a business that needs to make money. More content, quickly means more time to milk Zenny from the nubs and scrubs who can’t be bothered to grind for Fight Money.
Costumes or ‘Hats’ will make more money than character DLCs ever will and are easier to produce. That’s where the bulk of the money from this model will be coming in from. Characters take up a lot of resources to create and are a nice bonus but I don’t expect too many of them too fast. This is similar to the MOBA DLC business model and Capcom are going to make…* Billions…*
Now that I think about it - how many characters would SF5 end up when it comes to the end of this game’s life anyway? Capcom wants to keep the crowd hype for SF5 for quite a while, which means they are planning to release more and more characters over the course of next few years. I’d say the final final roster will have about 30-33.
1st Generation - 16-18 characters (includes possible boss and hidden)
2nd Generation (2016-17) - +6
Third Generation (2017-18) - +4
Fourth Generation (2018-19) - +4
Fifth Generation (2019-20) - +2
So yeah I would say 30-35 Maximum is a good estimate. SF4’s numbers got inflated because of SFxT roster which was similar enough for the characters to be ported over to SF4.
Hmm will they make cosmetic items like sf4 where you have to buy it to see it or like tekken where you can see what ever crazy unique combination everyone has?
Because there are just two SF2-spots left and Guile is more iconic than Sim and Gief. Protagonist in the movie “Street Fighter” and the US cartoon.
Nash is in this game with a completely new moveset so there is no charge zoner in the game yet.
Gief can easily be replaced by Haggar whereas Dee Jay and Remy aren’t popular at all.
Not that sure about Blanka. But with Guile there’d be only one SF2 spot left.
There’s no relation between Guile and Sim (see below).
The six SF2 characters that have been revealed so far are placed in pairs of being related to another:
Ryu and Ken, Chun and Vega, Bison and Cammy. They all have some sort of a significant connection.
Guile’s and Blanka’s connection is having been in that exact place on the SF2 character select screen.
Btw., Honda is the least important world warrior. The only one to not make it into SFxTK.
Your logic is flawed, because they ALL have some sort of connection with one another. The pairing up you speak of is a delusion that exists in your head only.
Some sort yes. But not all have a significant connection (updated that part).
Cammy has no significant connection to Ryu and Ken.
Vega has none to Ryu.
Of course Bison and Chun are strongly connected but that doesn’t disprove this pairs-idea.
Either him or Vega was going to be in, just to fill that general archetype that’s guaranteed to come from SF2 for various reasons. Now that one of them is in, I wouldn’t expect the other until maybe later.
Sorry but you are making too many assumptions and seeing a pattern that is not there or is utterly insignificant, to give you a sense of control over the situation and credence to your poor guess work.
Your entire argument is built on the horizontal positioning of characters on a power point slide. That’s not even where the characters are on the character select screen. You also don’t even know that Vega is positioned between Chun-Li and Bison, he could be next to Ken or above Cammy.
Vega doesn’t have a significant connection with Chun-Li in the canon story. His most significant connections on that screen are with Cammy and Bison.
Lastly, Cammy was paired with Birdie, and Ryu was paired with Chun-Li for their reveals. The rest were all solo reveals.
The pairings you are speaking of are in your head.
Missing the cut is missing the cut. Especially when you’re comparing 21 returning/1 new in that vanilla roster compared to 12/4 in SF5.
Even Blanka wouldn’t look similar to Blanka in a reveal trailer, really. Main thing is the expectation’s already there for Vega normals and inputs, and you show what’s different. Although now that I think of it, in another world, the rose throw could be Blanka tossing a watermelon.
