Uh, Guile wouldn’t really be a clone character since his motions and move properties would be different than Charlie. Instead of having something like Ryu, E.Ryu, Ken, and Akuma in the game, we just would have Ryu and “SNK Ken” and then have Nash and Guile.
I’d like to see a Guile archetype in the game (Nash doesn’t fit the bill this time), but to be honest I’d rather see Remy over Guile.
Rose is a clone? I don’t think people know what clones are anymore.
Actually, I don’t think anyone knows what anything is anymore. Good games peace out
If Guile is to come back, he must change. Not only for gameplay reasons but also for character development; your dead anime sensei is back, learn something different from his moves please. I was thinking of breaking down my hatred for how Gouken and Nash unvalidated Ryu’s and Guile’s accomplishments respectively and how they conceptually hurt those characters but i’ll leave that for another time.
When thinking about the roster before Nash’s announcement I wanted Guile to have the Sonic Break to show mastery of the Sonic Boom (keep him throwing it with two hands, it’s iconic) but since Nash’s EX Boom already throw multiples i guess Guile’s moveset could focus more on the Flash/Sommersault Kick (the one move Nash lost for the Sonic Scythe), and his CA being the Flash Explosion would be a good way to make sure his connections with Nash are evident (since the second Flash Kick is similar to Nash’s Sommersault Shell) in game. Maybe his V-Trigger would allow him to continue EX moves with a followup? like using EX Boom would allow you to throw out more of them? i think something similar to what Chun’s V-T from the early builds was could work well for a zoning character like Guile (But nothing of that infinite fireball barrage madness from the Gamerbee x Daigo match of course). Now that i think of it, Guile could adopt Nash’s stance of throwing the SB with one hand normally then using his classic two hands pose when using the EX version, an extremely fast 2-hit fireball (similar to USF4). No Cold Blue Kick for him, that’s Remy’s thing. His qcf + k from Omega (Blitz combination if i’m not mistaken) could be a nice tool to have when comboing without charge and keeping up pressure (i remember you could use the EX qcf after flip kick for optimal damage followup, that felt good). V-skills are had to come up with, but i’m sure they could find a fitting one.
I’m fine with Akuma, but only if he’s not included in the “16 characters” announcement, either a bonus character, hidden boss or early DLC.
Alpha is what turned Blanka to a complete goofball, there was always humor to his character, but it wasn’t always all there was to his character. I’d be okay with Blanka making it in, they could be really creative with his moves. His SF2 double knee bash could hit high, his double headbutt could be an overhead. His bite could do half damage of another throw, but restore that damage as health. He could have his SF2 scoop back as a great anti air. They could do more with his ball variations. Maybe a ball that goes diagonal, a critical art where he bounces all over the screen, who knows? His V trigger could give him electrified normals like Victor has in Vampire Savior, and make his electricity mash move grow more and more the longer you keep it going.
There is a lot of potential in what they can do with Blanka and he would fit really well in SFV.
As for Guile, I think he shouldn’t make the initial 16, but be released as DLC shortly after release.
I wonder if they’ll move some of the story forwards in this game. I always felt like SF3 Ryu was meant to be, like, after Ryu was basically done with the Satsui no Hadou. After evil Ryu was basically vanquished as a possibility. I’d like to see something like that elaborated on. If Ryu resists the Satsui no Hadou who is the next likely case? Do Ryu and Akuma go to war over the soul of a third party?
I’d like to see Bison get defeated in a final way. I’d like to see what Makoto does after she saves her Dojo. There’s all kinds of places they could go instead of the way they’ve been doing things. Which is that many of the characters seem to live in a kind of timeless limbo. Just doing the same things over and over. I want to see Mel as a playable character and Sakura grown up. There was a secret ending in HD Remix in which Akuma superceeds the Satsui no Hadou. I love these kinds of what ifs. I’m ready for Capcom to take some big risks with Street Fighter.
If Guile got in i’d like his V-Trigger to allow him temporarily forward dash cancel his sonic booms. FADCing his booms in the corner was one of the most fun aspects about playing Guile in SF4 i feel. Having like 10 secs of dash boom goodness would be a great addition to him. Imagine that in the corner; he would be a goddamn pressure powerhouse. And it would give some use real use to V-Triggers as well. Imagine the Guile matchup where you have to play against him. You know his v-trigger is strong and if he gets you in the corner with it it’s gonna guaranteed chip + constant small mixups. Now you have to offset the power of your own v-trigger vs the ability to v-reversal out of Guile’s potential corner rushdown. Guile players will then have to start figuring out how to bait v-reversals to stop the counter etc etc.
I really don’t see how Necro and Bison would mesh if it’s after 3S. I’d rather have a story line for Necro where he’s trying to maintain his humanity and his old identity, and trying hard to use his powers for good. And maybe pursuing a singing career like at the start of the SF3 series.
The redesign of his step kick was amazing. I can’t believe how close you have to be to get it, and you have no free options to bypass footsies or fireballs. Definitely one of the many reasons I approve of Omega mode.
Thing is, Blanka was initially conceived to be a serious character who occasionally did goofy things. Now, Blanka comes off as a goofy character that occasionally does serious things. Not the direction I hoped he would go.
Sakura doesn’t seem the Satsui no Hadou type though does she? Miss Happy Go Lucky? Nah, I could actually see Makoto (even though she’s a different style) and there’s a contingent who’re into the concept of Evil Sean. I could see that working actually.
I was thinking his V skill could be a roll similar to Abel’s or CVS2. It wouldn’t be as fast, nor would it cover as much distance. You would also be able to be thrown out of it, just like Abel’s. What would make it cool is that you could roll forward whilst keeping charge. When V trigger is activated, speed and range of roll would improve, booms could change so they had juggle properties for ex moves, so you could do something like j.hk, cr.mp, cr.mp, boom, V skill roll, ex boom/ex flash kick.
You’d think the original 12 world warriors would make it in. Characters I think would be left out would be - Gouken, Dan, Hakan, Elf, Seth, Viper, Abel, Hugo, Poison, Rolento, Elena, Oni, Evil Ryu, Decapre and Rufus.
That would give them 12 originals, a bunch of 3S characters and maybe 4-5 new characters rounding out the complete roster to about 25-30ish.
Decapre is gone for now. If we ever see another Doll again it will probably be a new one that has moves recycled from all her predecessors (Cammy, Juni, Juli, Decapre) plus a few of her own. I’m for this because it could possibly mean that we will get to experience playing as all the dolls over a period of about 40 years.
We may see Abel and Viper again though. Especially Viper.
