SFV Character Request/Anticipation Thread

I think we will get a new build which includes Necalli and maybe a teaser of the next reveal. I doubt we will get a full reveal trailer this soon.

Well if they are doing a teaser - that means they need a trailer to include the teaser into. They canā€™t just show the same Necalli trailer we saw at EVO, it doesnā€™t work like that with Fighting Games (look at how Killer Inctinct was doing the trailers - announcement + teaser, all the time), so that means they are either announcing a new character and THEN showing a teaser at the end (and the teased character will be shown on whichever next major event Capcom is going to), OR theyā€™ll show us a trailer with something likeā€¦I dunno, Fight Money/Zenny breakdown like they did with the Battle System?

And include a short teaser for the next char at the end.

I think daemos is right, itā€™s awful quick to release another character.

I like having high hopes so I will go into this weekend expecting another character reveal, lol. If not I will be a sad panda.

Didnā€™t even know what anicon was until I looked it up and itā€™s a pretty big event.

Only if they donā€™t try to make them seem more important that he actually isā€¦

ā€¦I didnā€™t care much for Chrono Phantasmaā€™s storyā€¦

Real talk though: when I saw Abelā€™s initial concept I was a little disappointed they didnā€™t go with that look cause I would love to see someone like Zangief get thrown around like a rag doll by someone that size. So Yea, Iā€™d be down for a character like that.

The new characters for SUPER Muscle Bomber (Scorpion, Ortega, Rip Saber, Black Widow and Wraith) could fit in Streeet Fighter with a couple adjustments:

Iā€™d love to have Saber, for example, I think he sorts of fits in Street Fighter rather than in a wrestling game, and he could be a great successor for Rolento.

Rolento is already based on him lol. Canā€™t you see it? Just as Blanka is based on King Rasta Mon. Actually, considering Final Fight, I think Rip might be based on Rolento. Interesting since Mike Haggar is in both games.

Ring of Destruction was a great game in its own right, and Iā€™d like to see another luchador like Scorpion or El Stingray in. Stingray basically played like Vega with the wall dives, and Bison with the psycho crusher. And I remember Scorpion had a teleport and Akumaā€™s SF4 roundhouse.

Ortega was one of my favorite characters in that game, but he was kind of OP. Same as Wraith. Just too strong. Theyā€™d need a lot of redesign to be fair. Black Widow though, she was just bad and weird. She had a moveset that didnā€™t make any sense or really complement other moves. Best I can say about her is she had a DP.

I hope they tease a new female character this weekend.

Maybe a character who uses Taekwondo.

Oh and she could be from Korea.

Maybe she can be more of a zoner type of character and is a ā€œlittleā€ bit evil.

Yeah, that would be a neat idea I think. =P

Nah, sounds a bit overkill. They should just have a happy go lucky Kenyan princess who knows Capoeira.

If sakura is in, Iā€™d rather have this or that rather than the classic school trope ā€¦

Iā€™d actually like Guile, change him up a little.

And Sagat, change him up a bit more.

My most wanted characters are:

  1. Alex
  2. Karin
  3. Urien
  4. R. Mika
  5. Haggar
  6. Q
  7. Oro

But for now because the blue might represent the characters that were not in SF4 while the green represents the characters that were in SF4, so I hope the two left for blue are for SF3 since 2 of the confirmed are Alpha so I hope for Alex and either Urien or Oro make it while the rest as DLCs.

I will be back again to post my most waned characters in general including that were in SF4.

Seanā€™s Basketball V-skill is OP.

Last 8 I wantā€¦

Blanka (I donā€™t see it happening at launch)
Urien (Very likely) I want classic thong
Alex (Almost confirmed) I want him to be similar to sf3
Juri (Quite likely)
Karin (Quite likely) Iā€™d like her quite different like Birdie wasā€¦ no longer a rich girl, more aggressive design in look and fighting style.

New - Traps
New - Grappler
New - Acrobatic movement heavy character

If Ken Bogardā€™s leak pans out, I reeeaaaally want the Brazilian character to be a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu user. I admittedly donā€™t know much about the style, but from what Iā€™ve read, a smaller, speedier grappler with a focus on counter moves sounds awesome.

The Indian character I just want to be as far removed from Dhalsim as possible. Spiritual, but not mystic. Grounded (literally). Not a stereotype based on Ghandi.

Spoiler

And please donā€™t come at me with the pro-racism argument. You can do varying nationalities without taking it there.

You want a street fighter character who isnā€™t a stereotype?

A stereotype / caricature doesnā€™t always equal racism. But that is neither here nor there.

There are certainly examples of this, Makoto, Q, Gill, Urien, M Bison, and Juri all come to mind as characters that donā€™t neatly fit into any stereotype of any particular group, religion, nationality, or exhibit characteristics that could be generalized in that fashion.

My dream character would be a new boxing character, preferably female.
Someone fast and deadly with emphasis on classic footsie-play rather than insane combos. Like Dudley without the combo dependancy, and Balrog without the turtling ^^

Capcom prease?

That is true, and Iā€™m not trying to make such a blanket statement. But Street Fighterā€™s use of stereotypes are based on nationality, and for many countries this extends to race as a result. In a vacuum or more perfect world, this wouldnā€™t be a problem.

But the world isnā€™t perfect, and these games donā€™t exist in a void.

What is a problem is that the SF community in the West seems to think that the national stereotypes of majority white countries in particular are the exact same thing as race-based stereotypes of brown, black, and other peoples of color. The latter of which usually devolve into caricatures born of the sort of historically race-based propaganda that white people do not experience.

I canā€™t speak on Capcom of Japan and how their cultural landscape may or may not have lead to a different view on race in particular. But it speaks volumes that the Street Fighter series regards its black and brown characters with the same racist attitudes and beliefs as the West.

But bison does all that minus point 1.
