Completely different properties. You canāt call it tiger knee cause it has the same motion. Bison Teleport is a SRK motion. So should I call it a DP? Lol. This isnāt neogaf.
Juri is SF4ās best original character and by a long shot. Still would prefer Karin, however objectively Juri is amongst the greatest designs in SF as well. IMO, this is who I feel are gameplay design wise the absolute pinnacle in SF.
That would be honestly the best way to announce her. I canāt imagine a more hype way to do it. If they donāt do it that way for the reveal having just her laugh at the end of a reveal trailer as the tease for the next one would be dope.
And then they troll us by showing a completely different character. Thatās not Karin, thatās the sound of Capcom laughing at us. Imagine if that actually happened lol.
Great you showed one slight overlap, though the moves function differently. Now go through all the animations eternal put in his post, and match them with Fei.
Ease up, heās not being aggressive, he was explaining his confusion. When I think of Fei I think Rekkas and Chicken Wing. Karin has rekkas and, in swordās mind, they both have something equivalent to a chicken wing (move properties aside), which is what he was trying to explain with his post. Thatās sufficient for thinking the characters are similar.
On a side note I was hoping that Juri and Akuma come in with nice V Skills. For Juri I was hoping her V Skill would be her parry and for Akuma I was looking for something stance relatedā¦ But before even diving into these characters I want to dial back and talk about another aspect.
I was thinking V Skills should receive EX Versions. The reason I say this is because it opens room for new opportunities at the expense of more meter.
So example 1: Ryu.
Obviously he has his parry which allows him to recover quicker. At the expense of meter though, I thought itād be a nice idea to give it a different property. So instead of just recovering at a certain rate, he would be able to break the opponents move completely. So example, Cammy does EX Drill and he basically could do a energy burst that doesnāt necessarily do damage but reverses the momentum. The hit property of the EX Parry would also give stun like a guard break does allowing him to follow up with a full combo punish or CA.
Ken on the other hand could get a deep hit stun off of step kick instead of a knockdown which will allow him to continue his combos.
Birdie could gain more V Bar for meter.
Thereās obviously tweaks to be worked out between each character but this popped into my head recently.
As for Juriā¦ Her V Skill like I said would be her parry. Properties would be the same. If hit she can move in 4 directions. In the case of EX it would be treated like Omega. If she does it then she can dash without being hit and on that note, they should be normal and special cancellable movements.
As for her V Skill, I only realistically see Feng Shui Engine and the duration would probably be hella short.
Also as far as changes as a character I would like to see her receive a lot of the Omega mode changes overall. Itās a lot of interesting stuff. Of course that just makes her a port of Omega Juri into SFV but unless they plan on revamping the character all together, I donāt see anything special that could happen.
Akuma is something special though. Let me start by saying I like Akuma and I like Oni but I feel like it would be nice if they tried something new and made a mashup between the two characters.
So basically his stance would be like the start up to his teleport. Some options could be that he cancels into demon flip or the teleport. Or he could fake and do nothing. In the case of EX is in up in the air (figuratively not literally) The only thing I could think is maybe giving every move he has cancellability. So instead of demon flip only being able to do its own follow ups you could maybe get a full cancel into a dive kick or air fireball to change the mixup, while his teleport can be cancelled with slash from Oni. Then on the subject of moves straight from the stance, itād be nice to see something like Oniās step kick.
As for the V Trigger, he would transform into Oni. By making his V Trigger 3 bars to charge, it would make sure that coupled with his low health, he would need to do some good blocking or get hit a lot to build the meter so the Oni aspect works as a come back factor. If itās to unbalanced for him, his Oni step kick could build meter too I just felt it would be much because Ken does it the same way so I feel like he would overshadow Ken so the best way is to only give him that factor if he gets hurt enough.
Iām not exactly an adept SF player and I know that some of these options may be a bit much but Iām the kind of person that likes to work forward then cut off the excess as needed. Let me know what you guys think.
This is why it is good to play a character before commenting on their gameplay. If people donāt like/want Karin cause of how she looks, or being a schoolgirl, or whatever thatās fine. You can comment on that without knowing much about her. However if people are going to bring in the clone or originality argument, they should be at least somewhat familiar with the character.
Even if she was a clone, which she clearly isnt if anyone plays her. SF universe is known for clones. Shoto clones never get hate like this and they are all clearly clones.
