When people called Gouken’s special move a “parry,” it’s like they never played CVS2 in which it had SNK characters with “counter” specials. So stuff like Geese’s counters or Blue Mary’s counters are just called Counter Moves. Looking at Karin’s “parry” on youtube, it looks like a Counter special move from KOF. If we want to be more specific and not confuse counter hits with counter attacks, we can call them catch counters or counter moves.
Stuff like Ryo’s “parry” in KOF02 or KOFXI is kind of different from both a SFIII parry and a counter move. In essence, it’s a guard point move that can cancel into specials/supers only if guards something. When an attack makes contact with it, it still has the sound effect and if I recall the hit/guard spark of guarding, unlike a SFIII parry or counter move. It’s like a counter move, but you get to choose what to do cancel into afterwards or just let the animation run through and recover then go into a normal attack or something. In itself though other than canceling, the move actually has a recovery animation.
Yeah Karin’s is a counter special. Gouken directly lifted this from Karin’s moveset except having to choose between high, mid, and low instead of just high and low.
Urien will be in Street Fighter V. Gill will be in the game but I am unsure if he will be playable or be an NPC. I’m also willing to wager that Kolin will be in the game, too. I don’t know if she will be playable or not but it’s a prediction.
Yeah a lot of the old classics are on Fightcade. If people want to know what Karin is about, just play some A3 with her. I’ve said this multiple times, but I hate schoolgirls in fighting games. In fact it is probably my least favorite of all the common character types. Yet Karin is one of my favorite designs, why…cause her gameplay design is just one of the best street fighter has ever produced and tons of fun. That is why all these pros are asking for her, why many of the fans are asking for her.
I never played 3, so haven’t played Karin, so that video is pretty much the first I’ve seen, and she definitely doesn’t look like a character that would interest me in the slightest =/

I’m positive they’re going to reveal the person that was in Ken’s trailer who I think was E.Honda. It’s all in the face paint. I don’t think it’s Akuma because it’s too early to be showing someone like him.
After that, they’re without a doubt going to tease a Brazilian character (Blanka or Sean) because Ono said there would be one. Unless there’s an event before October where they can reveal a character or just want to release a trailer for one beforehand. And if they were to make a character from New Zealand, I think they would have said so. Sorry, no Karin. Why do people want her back anyway? Isn’t she just Fei Long?
Most SF characters were eh tbh. I don’t like a lot of the 3rd Strike characters for example. Then characters like Viper and Juri came along. Juri for SFV!
The teased character is not Honda. He, of all characters, surely does not deserve to take a spot in SF5’s roster
Akuma will probably make the cut as the first DLC batch. Otherwise he’d be a third shoto in the game by now, screw that
They have Gamescom and Paris Game Show in August, and then Tokyo Games Show in September, so they will have plenty of time to make new reveals before tha Brazillian event in October
Karin is not Fei Long. Unless you want to call Poison, Rolento and Yang that too, since all 5 of these chars have rekkas

Yeah, I didn’t know that much about Karin before. My apologies. I can see why people would want Karin back now. But she does have a move similar to Fei Long’s Tiger Knee. Just sayin’. She has the twins’ overhead too.
Oh and on a sidenote, her theme will probably be all techno. lol
