I think it’s a bit herder point on a single cause of SFV art mess
While it’s true that 3D modellers should be able to understand stay loyal to a good concept by a great capcom designer as Bengus (think Alex), is also true that you can see the not-as-good influence of Kiki* in many costumes (usually Story Alts) and even weird chromatic choices such as the spam of lemon yellow or cyan
Aside that i can see also marketing having a role, with some slimy marketing (as if SFV had good marketing to begin with lol) telling how SF “NEED” to drop capcom visual tradition to embrace better the west and win new fans
Wich may explain why some males that traditionally had a more “anime” look like Ken/Alex/Vega are the ones less loyal to themselves in SFV
SF4 on the other hand was heavy criticized when actually had only one problem: poor 3d models
Outside that it was coherent and well done SF art building (at least they gone hooker and allowed Udon’s crap in)
They even was aware of shitty parts and fixed them, Old-man Vanilla Ryu was SFV’s Tranny 40yo Alex

SF4 art was mostly antagonized by who did’nt liked poor 3D models (i can understand) or straight did’nt liked Capcom’s classic style, wich make guess why anybody should ear theyr opinion on a SF title to begin with
SFV art have many good things that nobody ver speak about, but also tons of multiple or mixed origins problems that go to touch characters designers involved, 3D modellers, art director, marketing, integrity, coherence
Is’nt that you’re wrong, it’s just not only 3d models
*he can work on another title, but clearly Capcom’s SF does’nt fit his style
