People keep acting like they didn’t ask the SFV Producer about this at Capcom Cup. He confirmed this. People just want to believe what they want to believe.
As they look now aside Helen (good) #1 and maybe possibly katana doll(crap) #4, there’s no obvious ones at all imho
Trenchcoat #2 can be anybody
Giant #3 seem too big to be Byron or even Azam
Tryhard #5 can be anybody, new silhuette seem to exclude Rook, at least his CFAS design. Also seem to slim to be Garuda
Even if I don’t like any Dolls they’re at least warriors. Probably Helen gonna be included without showing nothing about her possible fighting abilities before. No wonder people imagine her taking a GG style with some kind of elemental powers and shit. In a possible arcade mode probably she doesn’t have not even a reason to fight since she was created originally to be just the personal bitch of Gill.
Anyway the Character Pass is out on Steam? Seems Capcom did a good job this time considering no one discovered a possible hint about the new characters.
I think it’s stupid just because you haven’t seen a character fight before that it’s ridiculous that they can.
Like, do you assume Chun Li’s father can’t fight because you’ve never seen him fight?
You’ve never seen any of the Delta Red members fight, so can they not fight?
None of Kolin’s interactions in SF5 would have required her to fight anyone, there are no scenes of her being attacked and being unable to defend herself, so there’s no reason to assume that this high-ranking member of a secret society built around fighters wouldn’t know how to fight.
Honestly, having 1 doll doesn’t kill it for me. I hated on Decapre on release, but her gameplay was actually pretty good and interesting. Long as we don’t get multiple dolls I can live with one if they make her interesting.
Your assumptions are stupid too since we can consider fighters every character present in SF history. Since I didn’t see Dhalsim son stretching his limbs I could assume he could too? The only ‘possible’ reference about Helen having fighting abilities was in her dialogue with Juri in the cinematic story, that’s it. Even then the only unique thing she demonstrates is how disappear. Personally I don’t find nothing in her (not even in SF3) about the original idea of World Warrior, that’s it, but Capcom could make also look Ibuki’s pet rascal like a real fighter. I’m curious then how they could make it without going with the superpowers route.
Kolin is also an accomplished fighter in the UDON comics, which we know Capcom regularly mines for ideas even if they’re not canon. In Unlimited she one-shots Rolento and Sodom.
It makes perfect sense that a high-ranking member of the Illuminati would be able to fight, whether or not we’ve seen her do it before. Her role at Gill’s side was akin to the Vice/Mature role with Rugal in KOF. The ‘hot female assistant’ type in fantasy stories like this is almost always secretly a bodyguard in addition to being a secretary or chauffeur or whatever. Go to superhero stories for plenty more examples, like Mercy Graves to Lex Luthor or Lady Deathstrike to William Stryker in X2. This is so commonplace that there’s a TVTropes page: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BodyguardBabes
Kolin original SF3 design looked just secretary, too KoF for SF imho… but SFV “Helen” seem straight classic SF design
Also peoples think ice not because she can’t have a martial art for hand-to-hand but because since SF2 we got “elemental” fighters, be it fire, elettricity, wind etc etc
Ice seem a kinda obvious missing one (even if Gill was half ice), and considering her design/theme etc her using it feel classic SF stereotype style of chara design.
And last but not last
That’s likely just Gill’s power, but one more sign that ice theme just seem fit her
Also the classic gameplay associated with ice seem fit her role/attitude in the story
Said that i’ve no problem imagine they can give her also a fitting martial art style, i’ve less problem at imagine a tall tick russian woman in militar uniform that look like a James Bond movies female spy than accept dolls like pink hair megaphone one, or azure hairs pc nerd one
ps: as much i dislike udon stuff on general, there Kolin is a fighter
I think Helen will be the first DLC character, however she won’t tranform into Kolin, “Kolin” will be a premium costume to rake in more Bison Dollars for Capcom.
