I never saw this shit as censorship caused by feminism. SF5’s gone too far into eye-rolling weaboo-tier embarrassing territory. I just assumed the ass slap change was to tone it down a bit. Mika is some stupid fucking shit so any “censorship” she gets is fine by me.
SF should stick to being as family-friendly as possible. You’ve got MK for ultra violence and DOA for jerking off. Plus this game’s being made from the ground up for e-sports and competition first and foremost. When you think about changes from this perspective it makes a lot more sense.
There is a lot of censorship happening in all sorts of media to pro-actively counter feminist criticism but this never struck me as part of that.
Are you new to Street Fighter? because Street Fighter was never all that family friendly. Sure the fan service in Street Fighter V is the most it has ever been in the series so far. But Street Fighter has always had its fair share of fan service. And while not uber violent like MK it had its fair share of violence in early Street Fighter games. People have posted comments and pics above showing this. As for Mika. She’s been around since Alpha 3 doing this stuff. This ain’t new. Also Cammy been showing off dat ass in her Skin tight leotard since SFII new challengers. Laura’s in a thong, Chun-Li’s Critical art in her alt is quite the sight to see. Smash Bros would be the more family friendly fighting series. Where as Street Fighter is like a lil bit of everything in terms of aesthetics and presentation
So there’s still plenty of fan service that would make those who find issue with such themses not want to play. I said it before and I’ll say it again. I believe they made the alterations to make the game more presentable for Esports which is cool. But with everything else in that is still in the game. At this point it’s like removing a rock from a mountain. You changed something, but not enough to make a difference. Or as @noosetester said “I agree with them trying to make the game more inclusive and presentable as an e-sport, but if that’s the best attempt they can muster up they shouldn’t even have bothered.”
Idk if you’re refereeing to me but considering I’m dropping 200$ just so I can use the input of my choice, 350$ for the PS4, 60$ for the game 60$ for the PS"Live" service (whatever it’s called) yes I will be playing the game quite a bit.
I’m not some 20 something in college who lives at home and has mad free time nor am I a professional player whose career/job is SF, but I’m playing. A lot. And I can’t wait.
Will I drop out 2-3 years in like I did with SFIV? That depends on the quality of the game.

How is pointing out censorship, and saying that it’s probably this whole climate that Gamergate/STW created a “crackpot theory”? DOAX3 isn’t coming stateside for this exact reason. Recent games create a character modes have been scaled back, the changes are 100% a result of this current situation, and if you’re denying that then it’s you who is a crackpot.
Now do I have the tweets (don’t use Twitter) or emails or whatever that I hacked from Ono’s email that prove this. Of course not. In fact I’m not even sure that it was a person or persons who complained. That said it wouldn’t surprise me, seeing the reactions from a small contortion on GAF, no it wouldn’t surprise me, but actually if I had to bet I’d say that it was probably just the producers in this case Ono and/or others, and it was a direct decision based on the current “climate”. Absolutely. I don’t see what’s crazy about that, seems pretty logical. I think if the game had come out 5 years ago these decisions would probably not have been made.
Again I think you’re seeing something that isn’t there, perhaps based on the tone of some of my posts. Certainly I write sometimes in a provacative way that is designed to push buttons/stir emotions. I admit that 100%. Could I have been nicer and done a lesser tone. Yeah. But that’s really not my style especially opening the game especially right out the gate. I like to get people motivated or even a bit pissed off it created a buzz it gets people as passionate as I am even if they don’t agree.
That said I’ve yet to see someone that disagrees. Correct me if I’m wrong but I can’t find a single person who likes the changes and/or wants more changed. Some “don’t care” and others, for some weird reason don’t think it’s “censorship”, but still agree the changes suck and liked it the way it was.
I disagree about making the game more “Esports friendly” or that this will somehow increase sales. On the contrary I think this pissed a lot of people off and created a negative buzz that will lose them sales. This isn’t Dragons Crown nothing in the game needed changed, except of course things related to balance and gameplay. You want Esports to care more then make a solid balanced and fun fighting game.
BBHood if I had any idea. ANY idea whatsoever that the thread title would cause all this outrage hate and arguing yeah I would have called it something else probably. I still have no idea why calling censorship censorship is such a big deal. I learned about this with a video from Max on my YouTube subscription, titled: “Street Fighter V Censored”. I read quite a few comments and they were universally in agreement with him and not a single person had a problem with the title of the video.
I don’t get it, and nobody has explained rationally or logically why this isn’t censorship. They just scream in my face that it’s not censorship and that I’m crazy.

I believe I logically explained why it isn’t. Unlike the case with games that have actually been the target of legit attempts at censorship via pressure and outrage from SJW and feminist cliques like Dragon’s Crown. SFV was never under such pressure. People may have voiced their dislike of some things or themes in the game. But that’s as far as it went. As I said before one could argue that these groups have created an environment that makes devs feel like they can’t include such themes in their game. But no direct out cry or pressure is being shown here. Others have said this too. Ono and the other devs behind the game have made a decision of their own volition to remove some risqué things from the game to present the game better as a Esport. But like some others have said. This is a very weak attempt at doing so when you consider everything else that is still in the game. So weak that it makes little to no difference and they shouldn’t even have bothered. They should’ve built the game from the ground up with less fanservice if they wanted to present the game better as an Esport.
1st Bold: agreed however I don’t discount the idea that a small stink, possibly, could have been made. You are right no mainstream controversy at all nothing like Dragons Crown. Back when I first read neoGAF during the Mika reveal I was shocked to see some negativity even though it was small it surprised me, this was before I even knew what Gamergate was (I had heard about it that was it) and I even made a thread on my local community page entitled “Cammy Hate? WTF she’s awesome!”.
