SFV Censorship

Yeah Bayonetta sure is censored. Funny how the second frame of her reveal trailer is her ass.

Nintendo Wii U folks, a console that is primarily geared at children and a game that’s rated E FOR EVERYONE.

so you’re saying this wasn’t one of your arguments?

It’s pretty cute of you calling me a dumbass. I do enjoy watching the weak of mind and spirit thinking I’m anywhere near their level.

Like I said above, you have a very misguided and naive view of the world. I’m not going to repeat myself even further. You have 8 pages to read about why you’re wrong complaining about censorship. Atleast read the last 3. Plenty of good points were made, which you immediatly dismissed because maximillian has 1000+ views on his videos or how a few of your friends are not buying this game because capcom doesn’t show Mika slapping her ass.
Nothing but anecdotal evidences that don’t reflect reality.

edit: you get extra points for not figuring out I was also calling you an idiot and insane. Good job on calling me a dumbass though. You sure thaught me a lesson.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed video game company, you must now decide whether or not to reverse the decision for my client R. Mika. I know she seems too risque, but ladies and gentlemen, this - is Sagat. Now think about that for one minute. That does not make sense! Why am I talking about Sagat when a girl’s butt is on the line? Why? I’ll tell you why. I don’t know, it doesn’t make sense! If Sagat does not make sense, you must kill all autistic basement dwellers.”

Oh it’s most definitely one of my arguments, but it’s not my key argument.

This is Rated E 10+

And since I know the ADD is strong with some people here, in the reveal trailer the first shot you see at 33 seconds is of Bayonettas ass, for longer than 2 seconds also.

It just goes to show how lazy you were and didn’t read any of my posts or you’d know.

Most of the comments in this page agree with me and the base of what I’ve said. The disagreement comes because a lot of people “don’t care” or “don’t think it’s worth fighting for”. That’s where the disagreement is, not in the core arguments.

It’s you who needs to read the thread man. Cut out the 3 or 4 idiots and the vast majority of the thread supports it, even they are against the change they just don’t think it’s a big deal.

I told you to point out what I’m ignoring and **you can’t. **

We agree on nothing, even if we agree on something, we don’t. You assume correctly my friend.

Disagreeing with how Capcom handled the change isn’t the same as agreeing on a movement against them, or the same as disagreeing with Capcom having the immutable right to choose their own business practices in their own interest.

What *the fuck *is wrong with you?

Really now:

This is just from the first page Zepherus.
**
THE FIRST PAGE.**

In the middle of the thread I did a tally and there is not a single person who disagrees with me on the core argument.

You’re just some idiot who came late to the discussion, didn’t read a damn thing, but saw Daemos and a few other trolls who are enjoying their internet time before meds and then lockdown and decided to pile on because you thought you had a sense of how the wind was blowing.

Read next time. I don’t like calling people idiots but seriously man, read a thread before you speak.

I agree with every word.

I have this affliction where I always tell the truth.

Please blow your lid again and get all megalomaniac on how I’m a megalomaniac it was so awesome last time

OK if any thing constructive is to come from this thread. People need to engage in an actual discussion. Not a contest about who’s right and who’s wrong with flaming and shit talking. This is what killed the Gamergate thread. Looking at you Parry All. I hear what ya saying, we all do but you need to relax and stop being so hostile and aggressive. Present your point without attacking others or being so confrontational. This is a discussion not a debate. Also those with your snide remarks such as “Go watch porn if you want to see a woman’s butt you virgins” Are no better. You think you sound mature or better than someone with such remarks, but you’re just as childish as you think the rest of us are. You’re completely missing or dismissing the point people are raising about this.

I don’t care about who agrees with you. They don’t reflect reality. Most americans think all arabs are terrorists. Are you, in that stupid little head of yours, going to side with the majority on this too? For fucks sake.

It’s goddamn fucking hilarious of you, YOU, saying others have ADD.

Go read the last 3 pages. I’m not pointing out anything to you so you can, once again, ignore it. You just fucking ignored that I said Nintendo censored Bayonetta’s costume when she uses her summons.
THAT is being censored. They changed something on Bayonetta’s costume. Mika still has the same costume. Still does the same moves. Still shoves her ass into the opponents face. Only thing that changed was a camera focus on her ass. Something so extremely minor, yet something that could (and got) them a lot of negative views and publicity.

You still need more to be said?

How about the USA, one of capcom’s largest market, being in this extreme situation where anything and everything is offensive and is made a target of, which could lead to a large number of loss of sales by the casuals. The people that dictate if a game is successful or not. Hardcore gamers, tournament players, forum dwellers… we’re a very small minority in sales. Companies target us, because we’re the most vocal ones and we’re always the first go to buy their products but we’re not the ones who makes them enough money to say their investment paid off.
Casuals are. And if you alienate casuals, you’re fucked. At most (and I’m being very generous here) hardcore gamers make for around 200k sales. A SF game that sells around that, would be the last SF game we’d ever get.

You still need more?

How about Ono needing to convince the capcom suits to make a new SF game and being denied of that, even when SFIV was successful both critically and comercially. If it weren’t for sony funding the game, today you’d still be talking about SFIV with SFV being nothing more than a dream.
Now pair that with having to deal with insane people badmouthing and boycotting a game because you showed some skin, and you have a need to appease them.

Triggered.

@RoofLizard Nothing you wrote got me up my bum, I wrote are you retarded because equating censorship with jail time is rather silly considering the history of censorship in gaming. The only thing that was annoying was the cherry picked definition, considering the majority of the definitions are not relevant to your argument about the authorities and jail.

Yeah no they don’t.

I can judge peoples fighting game styles/skill levels from reading their posts.

Uh.

This thread has officially become too stupid to live.

Remember kids, this is a forum for fighting games. We do those well. Discuss of social justice / feminism / religion is not our strong suit here and maaaaaybe we can save that for therapy sessions.

/thread

We’d been letting this thread rock because it wasn’t particularly harming anybody and it had seemed more productive / less trolly than previous discussions of this nature. Zephyr kinda went off the deep end here, and that’s not cool. Let’s keep it related to SF5, please. If you’re on some weird tangent, stop and get back on topic.

Anyways, I’m re-solving the problem here by giving Zephyr a time-out. The rest of you can party on provided you don’t go full retard.

@Preppy reopening this thread was a big big mistake…

If people want to discuss it, let them. You don’t have to take part in it.

I guess if everyone can remain civil about it I do not see why not.

I’m in agreement with it being a dumb change to Mika, especially since it’s such a relatively innocent action to begin with. Censoring a buttslap compared to all the crazy angles Mika puts herself into, her suit, etc is plainly silly. If you wanted to tone the game down and make it more acceptable for someone when their mom walks in you’d have to do a lot more serious work on it than refocusing a camera slightly. The fact that they still smush a person’s face with a quadruple bun hamburger slam and that the camera still zooms out after the buttslap to show her entire unfettered and unrestrained ass is going to get you more in trouble with your grandma than Mika’s brief slap. It takes some serious compartmentalization to rationalize that the buttslap is more of a problem than other things she does.

The leg split that occurs at the end makes some sense to remove at least if you’re concerned with accidentally getting people in trouble or worried about ratings, but is still something that could have probably been fixed easily without removal. Simple things coulda been refocusing the camera to place it diagonally to the hamburger patty (the victim), towards Mika maybe, and then lowering it so the camera is below crotch height of the victim. That’d make it harder to see things and still let you see the general move. Maybe it could swap who it leans towards depending on which side of the arena you’re on, more towards Nadeshiko if it’s closer to that side, etc.

Anyway, my point is that the changes seem entirely silly and unwarranted in general. The changes that have any sense behind them could have been done better. Removing the buttslap from Mika really does make the super less funny and entertaining, especially now that we’ve had the chance to see it. It’ll also be hard not to remember that it’s been removed every time we see it now, thanks to the general activity around the topic itself.

ParryAll man, you gotta calm down a bit though. Don’t let people get you worked up just because they want to be argumentative. It’ll only serve to make people who read your posts at a glance turn away from your arguments.

How is this censorship?

Capcom got rid of it to lower the rating. Whether it was a bullshit call on ESRB to higher it based on an ass slap or not is on ESRB. It wasn’t like SFV couldn’t have it.

This isn’t censorship unless Capcom was told you cannot release this game if you don’t remove it.

Capcom is a business and made the decision to keep the age rating low. Is what it is. I personally don’t care. I care more about the quality of the game. Not whether or not I see a digital ass slap.

This is not true. The game got it’s rating by the time of the Karin reveal trailer and censorship wasn’t in place by then. People need to stop with this ESRB nonsense.
