It is important to understand that most no one here agrees with censorship in the true meaning of the word. I even find myself agreeing with some of the things that hairy baby says because censorship is bad mmm’kay. However, I think one should think twice before falling for that bandwagon moral superiority against or even for the “censorship” of R.Mika.

Capcom is not a politician, Capcom is a business, and as a business I ask - Does Capcom retain the right to choose and change its business practices in the interest of its business? Regardless of hypothetical internal or external pressures, or whatever the motivation is behind a decision - Should Capcom be allowed to choose what it does for its franchises as it sees fit? Yes, it does, and it is more important to preserve that right at all costs.

In 2015, Capcom saw fit to shift the focus from R.Mika’s ass in the interest of its business -Period. You can whine and petition all you want, but the only real say you have ultimately is whether you buy the product or not. Capcom is free to choose and change its business practices to fit the context of its markets, and tehn enjoy or suffer the consequences of it. If you’re sick of the way industry/society is turning into (in your part of the world/market) then your beef isn’t with Capcom. Capcom is not a politician to be swayed with voting, Capcom is a business.

Do I personally agree with the butt slap? I honestly don’t care. I think it fits her bubbly personality and I like that about Mika. I don’t think it should be the focus though (mainly because I like Mika as character, but also because it’s cheap). If it were up to me I would’ve zoomed out a bit to show her face and body/butt slap as a whole shot. It’s classier that way.

But it isn’t up to me. This is and was an internal and internationally business-minded decision done by Capcom. It’s none of my business (pun intended).

Bottomline, buy SF5 or don’t. Your money talks. Give Capcom your opinion via the channels of communications it has provided its customers (Read: Not SRK) if it makes you feel better/you’re serious, and that’s about it.

If this rant is about your society as a whole, understand that the USA is but a fraction of the global human population and culture. No one outside the continental US gives a fuck about SJWs and the circus-like sociopolitical temperament of the US. I can match every ‘celebrated’ youtube user you bring up that ‘fucking yells’ and “hrows profanities”, with a user who speaks eloquently; One that expresses their views in an articulate and sophisticated manner, more suited for more serious subjects such as ‘censorship’ while simultaneously being pleasant to the eyes and ears.

Anger and credibility are inversely correlated in a discussion from the point of view of an audience. The angrier one gets, the less credible/reliable their opinion can appear to be. The excuse that ‘everyone is doing it, therefore it’s okay’ is very childish by the way. Even if it is just youtube, the topic at hand isn’t about youtube or limited to youtube, it has broad implications potentially the world over.

Streamers aren’t really claiming to spearhead movements and shout their opinion in your face. They sit, they talk, they crack jokes and they play games while talking to the viewers in a casual relaxed way.

Women don’t have the same capacity as men in many things, and vice versa. Even mentally men and women are different. This is why feminism is fundamentally short-sighted. The fact of the matter is men and women can’t be equal because they aren’t equal, because biologically speaking, they are designed to serve different functions. However, that doesn’t mean men and women aren’t equal in worth, which they absolutely are.

As for fighting for equal rights for women? What left is there to fight for? Women already have all the same rights as men and they even enjoy many privileges that men do not. It’s illegal to pay women less for the same work, before you reply with that old myth. You would think mission accomplished, no? So why hasn’t it died out? Because it never truly was about securing equal rights for women.

I’m arguing a point - of course I have an agenda…

The comparison to other ideologies is a poor one, and I’ll explain why.

Everyone clearly knows what an atheist believes, what a white supremacist believes and what a determinist believes, because those ideas are grounded in solid principles. The word feminist is so loose and arbitrary because it isn’t grounded in any kind of rational belief at all. It is and always has been about a childish, self-serving entitlement and gratification. This is why you only see feminists speak of western women’s issues, even if the evidence for it has been proven false, but constantly ignore inequalities that hurt men, or even women from countries outside the western world who are treated like property.

THAT’s short sighted. Feminism, or rather let’s call it what it effectively is - human rights, is about justice and equality within the realms that are human constructs. Social, legal, civil, political, professional, cultural, spiritual, etc. contexts are where equality is being imagined and demanded. All these things are not intrinsic to nature, they are 100% manufactured by mankind to help make sense and govern our existence - so that we may attain a sense of coexistence. They are concepts, ideas, values, ideals, rules, philosophies, parameters, and they are socially/legally agreed upon contracts that are actually MEANINGLESS in an objective context (they mostly exist in our collective heads only). These ‘realities’ are therefore subject to debate, questioning, and change always. This is where equality can be manufactured because this is where inequality and human injustice was also manufactured. Equality has no value in the universe without humans giving it value, and it surely does not exist in the universe, without human beings willing it to exist.

Nobody gives a fuck about the biology of things, and I seriously wouldn’t imply or bring into question the mental capacity of women in ANYWAY considering the depravations humanity felt at the hands of men.

Except there are atheists that would like the full-on abolishing of religion…with wildly varying degrees of militancy in that regard. Just as there are atheists that believe that religions SHOULD exist but have no personal interest in it. There were prevailing cultures of white supremacy that believed vehemently in treating other races positively as a matter of proper conduct. As time goes on, movements (and words) change, splinter, re-consolidate, adapt and evolve.

Feminism, for example, had roots in achieving the desirable & good goal of achieving voting rights (and others) for women. The reasoning for that, however, had different motives since, of course, there were different people as a part of it. Many women simply wanted equality. As I pointed out, however, some of the big female patrons of the movement had class-related motives that weren’t really very positive and there were overtones of that during the movement as well.

At the same time, nowadays, I will strongly agree with you that the vocal forerunners of feminism in the western world have totally warped it into a childish farce that is entirely harmful, negative and…frankly, idiotic. That is, of course, not to say that there aren’t positive voices and reasonable “feminists”…but they are not the active voices of the movement at the moment (unfortunately). As such, the movement is (for better or worse), like all movements, judged by those voices most common in the zeitgeist…which paints a stupid stupid picture of modern day western feminism.

The problem with your use of self-censorship is that it is too broad. Me choosing not to swear or scratch my nose in public would also be self-censorship, so it becomes meaningless. The second definition you linked shows the proper context though:

They use self-censorship to avoid ‘authorities,’ meaning jail or worse. Capcom was not under any official threat, they would not have gone to jail, been fined, or had their product removed; so it was not censorship, or even self-censorship. Think of all the director’s cuts that movies get, changes get made prior to a product’s release all the time. It’s not unusual for those changes to seem worse, or pointless, since a human is making those decisions based on personal preference.

It’s funny how we pretty much agree on everything but you still attack me all because I pointed out to you how Sagat is no longer in Shadowloo and hasn’t been since Street Fighter Alpha 2 back in the old story thread.

It’s finally been confirmed and acknowledged by Capcom in Street Fighter 5. You basically hate me for telling you that the sky is blue and that Sagat is an honorable fighter like Ryu and doesn’t care about Shadowloo or Dictator.
