SFV Censorship

Internet time is over please report to the front desk for meds and then room check.

Cult status means something has a small but extremely devoted or fanatical following. Fight Club is a cult classic didn’t do too well box office wise but the fanbase is obsessed. They Live is a cult classic. The Sega Saturn had a cult like following.

I think the word you were looking for is cultural phenomena not cult status.

GTA’s selling point has always been its over the top violence and sex. It’s of course exempt from any criticism though. You can get away with a lot if it’s done in a satirical way. Plus you just can’t argue with something that popular; the last game is closing in on what probably 40 million sales at this point. But the point still stands. You fuck prostitues and throw money at strippers in that game, yet a booty slap causes an uproar and change. It’s a ridiculous double standard.

No I agree with him, this guy is not who I’d want being the face of anything I believed in because he’s fucking laughable.

@ParryAll The Kotaku one has 600+ comments with many of them bitching about sexism. Doesn’t help Schrier-I-hate-George-Kamitani’s-Sexist-Sorceress wrote the headline setting the tone for the comments to go ham on.

The FemHype one was reposted several times. The fact it comes up on the first page of R.Mika controversy during a google search (though these are tailored, but I’ve also never googled for R.Mika controversy before…) at least shows it’s gotten around. It wasn’t that obscure.

The USGamer article is back and forth about whether it’s ok. The author writes if R.Mika was serious instead of silly, then how she looks would be a problem. It still boils down to how she looks and the article even starts off about her boobs falling out of her suit.

The EH one is further discussion and basically quote mining the USGamer one. Still, it’s about how R.Mika looks.

The Mary Sue site is definitely not as obscure as you’d like it to be. They get around on Twitter.

The PCGames article likes how her moves are, but not how she looks because didn’t Capcom get the memo on women’s clothing? It’s obvious the author thinks it’s sexist.

The point is, all the focus is on how she looks. Even the “positive” articles make an issue of how she looks.

So? Comments on just Maximillan Dood or AOS’s videos have 1,000 likes and every comment is pro-us.

It doesn’t surprise me that this group all hangs around the only gaming site that still writes articles about this crap Kraptaku.

Be before this thread I forgot all about Kraptaku. It’s not 2008 nobody reads blogs anymore.

Why is he laughable? Because of how he looks? He’s actually a nice looking guy if he’d do something about the hair.

Is he laughable because he’s not afraid to speak his mind? Nobody is perfect. I highly enjoyed his video and thought it was great.

Like there’s not a human being on this earth that you’re going to agree with on 100% of issues. I don’t agree with my best friend 100% of the time, best friend of 17 years, nor my gf. My sister and I argue about everything. Who cares.

I hate this hyperbole attitude, this black and white thinking online. Someone is either perfect or they are a piece of crap it seems.

If anyone says anything that remotely resembles an opinion or original thought that may or may not jive with someone on the internet you’ll hear from someone somewhere how they are terrible people.

If I were more prominent it would be the same with me. I had more respect before I opened my mouth as just a top Q and Alex that was a nice guy at tournaments. Discourse is a good thing but when it breaks down into “believe this or die” then it becomes a problem. When it breaks down into censoring yourself so you don’t step on anyone’s toes it becomes a problem. That’s not a healthy community. That’s probably why a lot of people are afraid to speak their mind and that needs to change really. If someone says something I don’t agree with I don’t throw them under the bus and I don’t know why anyone would. I have friends with Republican Democrat pro this against that it’s not a big deal, but in gaming circles people lose thier minds.

To not accept others individual views and to think that everyone either has to think exactly like you do or feel your wrath is the definition of totalitarianism. And while I don’t care if you worship God Satan Mohammad Jesus or no one or no thing, I do care if you’re a totalitarian Hitler asshole yet online in gaming circles that’s how most people are. Frankly it’s because they spend too much time online because people in real life are not like this they run the gammet of beliefs and values.

w0rd, it’s no kof 14…now available on the amazon app store.

Haha. More like now available on the Dreamcast with those graphics (not that Dreamcast graphics are bad but it’s 2015).

A “lol” response to my comment, really?

You know what from now on I’m dumbing myself down to the dude bro talk and Idiocracy style that way I can fit in cause fitting in is what it’s all about in a sick and sad society and world.

That should be it. Discussion over. /Thread

This is not like Capcom has made a major change after the game hit retail.
They made a change while the game was still in Beta. It is still a work in progress, they are allowed to change whats a work in progress.
The game designers made a conscious choice to change their work in the middle of development.
They made a design choice; it could of been technical, ascetic, ethical, marketing, Feng Shui, voodo, social justice, or even because “a fortune cookie told them to do so” but why should anyone care.

Whats with all the internet rage over a design change decision for a game that is still in BETA.

Because it’s censorship and it sucks.

So? You don’t understand that blogs writing negatively about gaming sets the stage? Then those people share on their social media and this shit spreads like wildfire that R.Mika is sexist?

Why do you think they changed her to tone her down? It’s definitely not the fans of the game who are complaining, it’s people who have nothing to do and would rather use games to push political ideologies than play a game.

Why do you think DOAX3 isn’t even coming here? Koei-Tecmo literally bailed in the West because they don’t want to deal with the outrage culture and have their game being used for political agendas by the western games media.

It’s not just Kotaku, it’s a lot of gaming sites creating a hostile environment for gaming media and creating outrage culture. Plenty of people still read these sites and still make a lot of noise on Twitter. Again, go look up Bayonetta 2 reviews, or look at MGS5 pre-release coverage about Quiet being sexist even though every outlet scored the game nearly perfect. I guess when you get invited to review events with all expenses paid by Konami you still get a near perfect score even when nearly every article written prior focuses on negative sexism crap. Since Bayonetta 2 didn’t have any of that, the “sexism” was enough to drop the score significantly.

If you really don’t think the above is a problem, then your quest for anti-censorship is already lost. You’re jumping head first into something you’re extremely ignorant about.

What Censorship?

Censorship would be a complete redesign of Miku’s costume so she shows less skin.
This is not censorship, this was a design choice that the game designers made.
How do you know Capcom was caving into SWJ and instead they said “na lets take out the butt slap as we feel its in bad taste”?
The Artist has the right to decide on their own merits what is going to far and what isn’t in the expression of their art.
Only thing Capcom did wrong is they bungled the PR afterwords.
What if there some software glitch they are aware of and moving the camera away from the but slap was the easy fix?
Are you sitting in their design studios? No.

Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication or other information which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by governments, media outlets, authorities or other groups or institutions.

That hasn’t happen yet.

Putting Miku in a burka, removing her inertly from the game or even not releasing the game out side of Japan would be Censorship.

This thread could aptly be re-titled “This is your brain on GamerGate”.
Because holy hell, this is a train-wreck that just keeps on barreling along.

Ono literally stated they changed it to not offend people’s sensitivities. That’s the very definition of self-censorship.

Textbook definition, dude.

So what? Are you really taking YT comments section seriously? There’s like half people are trolls, 1/4th are mindless dickriders of whoever uploaded the video and whatever the person said, and another 1/4th are fucking retards

Looks matter when you’re the face of something. This guy looks like a thug.

Not to mention he yells, screams, curses and has an annoying voice. This is not how I’d want my side represented on an issue.

Looks matter, voices matter. You never see a guy like this on the news, you’ll never hear a guy like this on the radio because I know I don’t want to be associated with a guy like that. He is not my voice. I am my voice.

It’s not about the point, it’s about this guy being seen as the face of our side.

Yes I hate censorship, I hate that sex is seen as worse than violence but having a guy like this be the face is just playing into their hands. Get someone clean cut who’s not yelling and cursing or who is but doesn’t at least look like… that and yells like an imbecile at his camera for 45 minutes.

I mostly agree, except he isn’t the face of “our side” whatever that means. His point could be made much better without all the profanity and extremely long rants, and this is coming from someone who likes to write a lot and use profanity. There was a video of his that I was like yeah, I agree until I hit the 3 minute mark and then realized there were at least 9 more minutes. Then, I had to shut it off, because the point had already been made in 3 minutes and there was no reason to rant another 9.

“Our side” is more of a general thing. Means I and many may agree with the point but we don’t want that being the face of our ideals.
