SFL: Sakura Issue #4 (possible spoilers)

Wanted to kick this thread off even though I haven’t had a chance to read it yet due to me being a little swamped at work…

But I do want to say thanks to SFD for printing my questions and Udoneko, Omar Dogan and Ken Siu-Chong for the great and well thought out answers!

The second question about Karin was from something vasili10 said to me in an e-mail conversation, so thanks to my good e-friend vasili10 too!

I see Jamar Miller’s questions in the comic too!

Okay as soon as I get a mini break from work I’ll go read the comic… just wanted to say thanks! Rock on Studio Udon!

sano: :china:

Erik’s response to your second question seemed kind of odd; almost as if Karin’s personality in Legends was based on her personality in Sakura Ganbaru!, which can’t be the case.

The kanji on Dan’s gi isn’t just “father”; there are two others above it.

Sorry Omar, but Ryu and Sakura have quite a bit more than just 5 years of age difference, almost twice as much. Ken has the right idea in his response.

Great issue and conclusion to the first of the Legends.

Ya I am being told by some friends that my questions made it into the issue YEAH !

I am in Japan on Business at the moment so I only get my issues every 4 or 5 months.

so ya I need to thanks Udon too now I just want to know all the answers LOL

Benny’s= Japanese Denny’s?

The Kanji on Dan’s back is literally = OYAJI!!!

I’ll probably pick up the issue thursday.

oyaji – usually means old man or Uncle, so I guess it could mean father but I have never heard it used that way

Havent seen Bennys ever in Japan

we do have Dennys here in Japan but I would say the Japanese Version of dennys is SKYLARK or Gusto ( which is now the same company)

Mindmage’s questions are in there two.

Finally read the issue. It was cool seeing Karin being nice at the end to make up for some of her spoiled bratiness. SNH Dan with a pink Aura was TOO FUNNY! I liked when Sakura remembered all of the people she met before in her fight with Dan, it reminded me of Ryu’s SFZ3 ending. Great issue - my favorite comic of the entire week. Overall it was a really fun series.

I see it now. The top one has its halves kind of spaced apart so it looked like two different characters at first. Oya-ji. Thanks udoneko.

This was an enjoyable and fun mini series all the way through. I thought it was concluded well. The Q & A extra was great. The only quibble I have was I thought there should be more surprise in the supporting characters when Sakura performed a Shinkuu Hadouken for the first time.

I’m glad the first Legends book went well. Looking forward to future ones.

I loved every issue.

And regarding Sakura Ganbaru, real subtle. LOL

This issue went all over the place, and had some great moments. Made me wish this wasn’t the last one

Also, Omar mentioned in the interview that he felt a bit rushed, but I thought the art in this issue really stood out

WARNING: SPOILER IN THIS POST…

Omar, Ken & Erik were SOOOOOO secrative about the conclusion of the book
that while I worked on the issue, I couldnt even see the last 5 pages!!!
No one knew the ending! Not even Alvin, Espen, Joe… NO ONE!
So when the book finally came out… Holy Shisnizzle…
Dan tripping on the bag! The expression on his FACE! That floored me!!!
I was sitting at my work desk and all Erik hears is this huge laugh and I
nearly fell of my chair!

Now we’ll have to ponder what WOULD have happened if Dan succeeded in
his ShunGokuSatsu!

I am very happy and thankful that some of you contributed in the interview.
You can bet that there will be more in the future, and that’ll be your chance
to dig up more info from UdonEko laughs I always ask the most carasmatic
and insightful posters/fans to participate. So the more you guys and gals get
involved with the community, the better chance you will see yourself get
published. Hey, that’s my job as Fan Relations right? thumbs up

You all rule. Thanks again for participating!

That’s a surprise, so few of you knew how it would end at the last five pages.

If he had succeeded though, it would’ve been ugly. He’d die as well as Sakura, so good thing he tripped and lost the intent. Whew.

Finally got it last night. Great issue. There’s a slight mark on one of the pages, but I guess I can live with that.

Keep up the great work!

Now I don’t know if they’d do it in the main series or in the Street Fighter Legends series…but I would still love to see the events leading up to Karin and Sakura’s “real” rematch when Karin finally beats Sakura, admits that she’s better and learns that it isn’t about winning, but about the meaning of the fight itself. Over-all a great fun series here though. PEACE!!

Easily the best issue among the four of the miniseries.

I mean, it had Shin Dan! The Chun-Li miniseries has got to do something really awesome if it wants to surpass that bit.

Seeing the other side of Karin was a nice bonus. I also loved the airtime given to Natsu. :lovin:

Yay Kei. In Rival Schools 3 if Capcom ever reinstitutes SF characters appearing in that series, playable Kei should have a trip attack special. Of course, she’d probably be pretty handicapped by that being the only thing she can do, but hey, if Edge can do some serious damage just by kicking dirt into your face…

…where will I go for my Kei fix now, though? :frowning:

I believe this was the perfect way to market the Rival School theme. Rival Schools needs to ride on the popularity of Street Fighter. THey really should continue the adventures of Sakura in the Rival Schools book by making her THE HERO or the Centerpiece of that book. Make her the RYU of the RIVAL SCHOOLS comic if you will. Keep the main story as its a good theme to use but make her pivotal in that series and not a background character all the time.

Make Characters like Karin Pop in from time to time as well even though she is not in Rival Schools

If they do this then Rival Schools will be a lot better in a profitable sense.

OH and they need to color it as well LOL !

RIVAL SCHOOLS WILL PROBALLY NEVER BE FINISHED but that is what I would do to increase readership and awareness of the book

I heard that Sakura wasn’t in RS2 (Project Justice) because the creator/producer of Rival Schools wanted the series to be able to stand on its own two feet without relying on Street Fighter’s popularity. Never was able to verify that, though.
