I suggest you get rid of this horrible rule. So if I only play on stick and the other person only plays on controller, how exactly is that making anything fair.

Agreed. I’ve never seen a rule like this outside of Gamestop’s initial rounds (and that was controller only). Sticks in fighting games = bowling balls/golf clubs in other sports. If some fool wants to play with the shitty lane balls while I bust out my personal main and spare balls…that’s my opponent’s bad. Not mine.

Qft. That rule is horrible.

Think this is the wrong kind of forum to be advertising a tournament with those sorts of rules.

Also, three different threads?

This is the worst rule I’ve ever heard, this is worse than some anime conventions. Even playing ground? You must not play any fighters on a competent level to know that even if I’m using stick, and Johnny Donuts is using pad and we’ve both been using our respective equipment for quite some time we’re even in that sense. If you force another person to use pad that has been using stick for years just to fight someone who uses pad makes the playing field horrible unbalanced. I can not use pad at all, I will play like I’ve never played the game in my life, and if you’re doing this to someone, then you are horribly misguided. Also, why isn’t this rule applied to Brawl? The Remote and the NGC controller are two different pieces of equipment, isn’t that uneven playing grounds if you call arcade stick and pad uneven?

What’s funny is the sf4 controller rule, and smash doesn’t have the same rule for wiimote/gc controller

It’s pretty obviously a SF tournament being organized by Smash players.

This tourney is an absolute joke. Way to go, guys.

I lol’d hella hard at the rule…GG ._.

I heard M. Gorlab got first place at this tournament.

what a joke, this place is stupid…also why start so early?

dropping out of middle school is a requirement for this position.

The prizes alone are a joke.

Whoa! I’m sure the store-owners appreciate the feedback, but come on guys, don’t be too harsh now. It really is a great store with a good local and supportive vibe and I’m sure they’re up for the constructive criticism on how to improve the rules for the tournament.

On that note, it’s not particularly about the prizes and competitive edge of the tournament, it is after all a charity event for Luekemia & Lymphoma Society. No one’s making any money off of this, it’s all in good faith.

Again, it’d be cool if the SRK forums could provide some constructive criticsim, but no need to flame so hard.

oh wow i didn’t see it was for charity. the horrible rules and prizes blinded me. i guess the prizes are forgivable. sorry for being an asshat.

Haha. No worries man.

I’m sure the play-n-trade folk will be checking out the forum tomorrow. Again, really cool peeps running the store and they’d love to hear how they can make a fair and fun tournament.

Okay it doesnt matter what it is for…you must be retarded to make such stupid rules no matter what it is…im sure they are great at selling games but not so great at common sense.

I’d highly suggest for you to change those rules for the controller/sticks. As you can see from the rest of the community, they absolutely hate it. As for myself, I also absolutely hate it as well.

Don’t take their direct and blunt answers for being assholes, it’s really something that the community is against. Also, in the first post, there was no request for any kind of constructive criticism or suggestions from us… in a way, you came in here with rules expecting us to abide by it, at least that’s the way it seems to be portrayed unintentionally. Which is why you got the current reaction from us.

If you guys from PNT have any questions regarding running effective HIGH turnout tournaments, I’d suggest for you to reach out to the community, talk to some of us to plan it, and then go from there. At least on my end, you’re more than welcome to contact me if you would like to have a discussion about running tournaments.

Edit: @DOTAMONSTER - DOTA is the shit ;]

Thanks all for the feedback… We were promoting an event for the Leukemia Society and didn’t realize it would cause such an uproar. We have been running tournaments for over a year and a half now, but this is our first SF IV tourney. We would definitely appreciate it if you guys could give us specific suggestions about how you would run an SF IV tournament, because we want to appeal to the SF IV community. We typically get about 100 people for our tourneys and would like SF IV to be as successful since its for a good cause.

:lovin:Sorry abou the three threads this is my first time as a poster and I kept making mistakes and didn’t know how to delete the thread. Give a girl a break:)
