lol oh no worries, i already expected a couple of these responses coming from u guys, thats how i learn =D. because i know i’m not a good player, and my motive is really sharing strategies and mind set with you guys so we can perhaps help the scenes out (if anyone really cares about what i think LOL). i’m not really good at getting points across to others…but i’ll try
well from playing cvs2, i started pretty late in that game and the competition in vancouver basically died after i played for a year, so the only way to learn is by watching videos. and by watching the japanese play seems to be the fastest way to improve, because they do the safest moves at the best scenario imo. i just learn their tricks and blend it into my playstyle, so i gotta at least be somewhat bias to follow the japanese trend, and i admit it, but i do not think we should be x-copying them. learning from what they are good at and improving on my style is my way to learn, and the best way imo. u can never figure everything by urself, because nobody is perfect, even in life, u read books. u learn from other ppls mistakes so u dont have to learn things the hard way. cole is right, u shouldnt COPY someone and make it ur own, you will never get better that way. but to understand what they are doing and IMPROVE it to better urself, is what learning is all about. japanese are not gods, they also watch each other and learn from playing others. because they have a larger competition, u have to admit they are learning twice, or 3 times faster than we do. skill wise only, they are ahead of us imo. its not dignity when ur learning from others…and wheres the dignity when you lose? i think rarely ppl would cheer for you because you lost even tho u discovered the tricks all by yourself.
and mike, kinda ironic there, but why do u point out that ryu is mid tier and say others are limiting themselves to thinking japanese way that ryu is top tier? arent u suppose to NOT limit urself and point out that ryu is top tier instead? i dunno kinda confusing i do agree tho that BP doesnt REALLY mean shit, however knowing i cannot beat daigo is because even how hard i tell myself i can, i cannot. its knowledge, when u know where ur level can stand, understand and improve on your weaknesses and become a better player, instead of hyping up urself thinking i can take whoever out player vs player. mindset is an important part playing against a good player, but knowing what ur capable of is even more important. the reason why BP is SOMEWHAT reliable is because kenny is the same level as i am since we’ve played different characters against each other and we trade games usually, but when he goes against Joe the best C.viper in japan, he almost gets triple perfected. not only that, he’s also played the best blanka and bison he also gets raped. i might not be a good player, kenny might not be a good player, but they are for sure far better than we are. after talking to kenny and knowing him more in person, he openly admits he’s just below average in japan after playing some big names and high BP players. many of you might doubt about me and kenny’s skills, but we can both consistently beat everyone in our area, its just something i want to bring up, maybe there are players out there who are THAT good to the point where its not imaginable, where we get raped to the point where we look like total scrubs, like kenny did, and the people who are able to do so are in japan right now. i guess i can only trust kenny’s words, because he’s the only one who can beat me so consistently and happens to play the most ppl in japan, just thought i would want to share this
