I like how every week Frank gets something added to his name. I first knew him as Frank. New sf4 guy beasting with gief, then it was Korean frank…cause we had another fake frank so our real frank is Korean frank…now we have KRAZY KOREAN FRANK!!! Cause once beer gets in this guys system the KrAzY comes out!!! lol
I posted tourney event, so everyone get ready. Round 2 of our Ranking Battle is underway.
Sorry vids of last tourney are still not up, just having difficulties getting vids. I will be personally recording the final 8 for this next tourney so we will have a guarantee vid up for it. Anyone else recording, please try to capture as many as the earlier vids as u can.
Post on our Tourney page too since nobody has the power to do a sticky =P Gotta keep WA HYPE!!!
Im seeing at least 32 heads for this event. Lets make it happen folks!!
man, i am missing out on mondays and its killing me:mad:
Hey deezo, im going to try to get a random tuesday off in about 3 weeks, so i can attend on monday without having to worry about work the next day.
im down to record matches and start my Honda-strat ‘notebook’ of potential do’s and donts. Hopefully it will be a packed house, 3 mondays from now:rock:
I’m pretty sure it’ll be packed Steve. Usually always is.
Good games last night to everybody. That was a fun session as always. I recorded a bunch of videos (like 14, 15 videos) so I got a busy night of uploading ahead of me. I plan on heading back to Narrows sometime before the next tourney to get some practice. I’m thinking of heading out Friday night.
Fun session, wanna see my matches that got recorded to see where I made my mistakes. Most likely a lack of patience, combos, and cohesive rushdown. LOL I sound so bad when I name all that shit.
PS MUCH LOVE to Narrows crew who turned on the Midnight Madness racer game thingy after closing so I could get my card back out of the machine!!
what up, what up to both of you! i would have liked to have been there on monday but i came straight home after work and passed out. hopefully i will make it out there one of these weeks.
my adventures to gameworks tend to be impulsive but i will try to give a heads up. is there an equivalent to monday night fights at gameworks? and i actually just got offered a job in seattle the other day, so i will likely be there often come november. timecards ftw!
Hey Mr. Blake I wanted to share my ideas about Akuma in this game. Most of this stuff, you already know, however I just wanted to put in my 2 cents so hopefully we can figure out more together.
He has an incredibly strong run game. I honestly don’t think that any character in this game can catch him consistently. I’ve also realized that when Akuma has Ultra, the matchup changes drastically. This is because any chance that your opponent had to get in on you, the options to get in on Akuma are even more limited. Raging demon scares people out of TRYING to catch you…jumping becomes obsolete against him, dashing in has to be used sparingly and can be read while Akuma is running away with those air fireballs and ground hadoken’s. If your opponent advances to far, you can always back him off with f+hk, which begins his rush game. All in all, his runaway game is by far the best in the game from what I’ve seen so far.
At the same time, Akuma’s rush down game is incredible as well. I don’t need to go into detail, because most of it is self explanatory…air fire balls to cover you in the air, demon flip’s, and f+hk. There are a lot of tricks to be figured out as far as rush down with Akuma goes. Choosing the right way to rush though is going to have to be dependent on how well you read your opponent’s tendencies. And tendencies can be learned through running away and playing patiently.
Final thoughts: Akuma is very buff in this game when played correctly. If I were to pick him up, I would first focus on learning and perfecting how to run away from anyone and everything. Rush down is strong, and it is how Akuma will get a lot of his damage, however if you run away all day, how are they going to do damage to you? Remember, tricks and mixups are SECOND when playing solid and consistently…they are your tools not what you base your whole game off of. I’m thinking that the key to being a good Akuma player is playing patiently and playing for the run away to get your opponent to play impatiently. Once you see the opponent doing dumb things and playing impatiently, thats when you know you have won. At the same time, a balance between rush down and running away is needed. Rush down should only be done after knockdowns in my opinion…no need to rush with a demon flip from full screen when you already have them where you want them (away from you at full screen). After knockdown, thats when shennanigans and mix up begins. But all in all, Akuma is fucking strong in this game and I am thinking of picking him up after writing this.
The hot night at GW will most likely be thursday nights, friday and sat nights. you will most likely see the best mix if competition on thurday nights tho… and tons of randoms the other nights.
if ya go on thursday, they got this 10 dollar 3 hours play deal.
Yeah I’m starting to think Akuma is actually kinda good. At least better than I originally thought he was. Good runaway, f+rh is great, good combos. Not to mention the fact that he’s a shoto. I was surprised at how early you can do the dive kick from the demon flip and STILL get a combo afterwards. Crazy hitstun. I think there’s potential there.
Mickey’s post made me wanna play lol. I’m hoping to get everyone acclimated to Ken’s kara grab as we don’t have a dedicated Ken player yet.
