Wish me luck fellas - I’m in WNF Online Edition qualifying is tonight.
Hopefully I’ll represent Chun well. I’m certain there are a few killers lurking in this thing.

Happy Lunar New Year. May you have more wins, land crispier links and encounter fewer Yuns in the year of the sheep =3

happy bday Chun

and from Akiman himself

Funny that pic is very old. Lazy akiman

I just noticed/remembered. It’s from 2012-2013 when he streamed painting/drawing it apparently lol

He still has that wacky sense of humor though.

Like, when someone tweeted him that “hey, I think you drew the breasts too small on this” and he replied with something like “how about this?”

Hey guys.

I haven’t been super active in the SF4 scene lately as a result of grad school and Super Arcade changing locations (but it should be opening up soonish which is good). Most of my time in the game is spent derping around online or practicing execution in training mode.

But, one day while playing Theory Fighter as I often do, I wondered about the applications of EX Hazanshu to beat option selects. It’s something I’ve brought up before, but I don’t think I knew enough at that time to really understand or appreciate it.

Here’s my line of thinking:
Most option selects in the game rely on the assumption that your opponent is going to either wake-up with a move or wake up backdash. Virtually every option select I’ve seen applied against Chun relies on the assumption that Chun is going to ***backdash ***(since EX SBK can be safe jumped).

But a lot of players forget that EX Hazanshu has a lot of startup invincibility, ***and ***moves her forward.

If you had the intuition to KNOW when your opponent was going to option select you (especially with something that has huge recovery like OS Ultra), EX Hazanshu would become a really viable escape/comeback option since (I think) most option-selectable Ultras will whiff against EX Hazanshu.

Obviously knowing when to use it is the struggle, but what are everyone else’s thoughts on it?

is the same with bipson´s forward teleport

you will ended up getting punished haha

I only ever had success with EX HSU in such scenaris as an anti-chip death move. As an anti OS it doesn’t quite work, even with the breaker properties in Ultra :bawling:

Guinea Pig Chun da bes  http://www.incrediblethings.com/style-and-gear/cosplaying-guinea-pigs/

All HSUs ‘SHOULD’ break armor.
still disliking Capcom for that.
Several and I mean several other cast members have multiple armor breaking moves across the board.
Chun…crapped on in that regard.

I’ve made peace with thatva long time ago. Reversal moves are breakers anyway. I still think Chun had it better than Dhalsim or Dee Jay in that regard.

If all else fails, there’s always the other games… or SF5 next year

Chun li would be unstoppable at midrange if all hazanshus broke focus.

The reason they don’t is because some characters need focus attacks to even stand a chance against her there. If sakura couldn’t use focus against chun reliably that match would be like 7-3

sounds fair

Nice article over on Eventhubs with Valmaster.

I think we can all agree Chun needs to be top 5…but why not top 1 or 2? lol

I will play her. As long as we’re not SF2CE or MvC2 levels of low tier, then we good. Gave her a spin in U/MvC3 for goodness sake.

As my first year of grad school winds to a close and I head into summer, (and as Super Arcade finally seems to make progress on a new location), I’m going to start prepping SF4 again in time for EVO.

Most of my free time has been spent playing Hearthstone like a filthy casual, or Heroes of the Storm (which I’m starting to get somewhat serious about - the player highlighted at #2 in this top 5 plays series is me). I’ll probably start putting those down to concentrate on SF4 to get back into form for EVO though.

Has the meta changed at all? I’m guessing not, but… you never know.

Elena and Decap have become more prevalent

Chun Li: Blue Jade fight card

Wonder if Blue Jade is the name of her "V-trigger/Instinct mode"
I know this is just a card and has no bearing on the game but…
Power and Health 2/5 bars? Would it kill Capcom to make their leading lady at least a 3.5?
If that translates to SFV gameplay I guess I’ll have to fight from the low-mid-tiers yet again!

99.9% sure it’s just a trading card parody.

No way you have this figured out with just 4 characters and the release a year away (or even more, depending on how much damage they need to fix on the bad PS4 SF4 port).
