Chun-Li

Vitality: Life increased (900->950)
Rear Spin Kick: Attack starts up faster and has received a hitbox improvement (12F->10F)
Yosokyaku (headstomps): Hitbox increased
Light/Medium/Heavy Spinning Bird Kick: Last hit causes a knockdown
EX Spinning Bird Kick: Hitbox on the last attack improved to hit more characters
EX Spinning Bird Kick: Hitbox increased on first attack to hit crouching opponents
EX Hazanshu: Armor break effect added
Kikousho: Invincibility when the attack begins has been extended (8F->9F)
Kikousho: Damage increased (330->365)

Heh? No more ex kikoken knock down? :frowning:

Also, is it just me or does red focus sound like balls? I know online will just be people recklessly burning meter with red focus to land big damage combos… I don’t see how this is a good addition to the game… Focus is dangerous enough as it is.

@ky0face

“•EX Kikoken: Knocks down on hit” is in there. I take it that you pulled the information from Eventhubs. Check out the information from Capcom Unity. It’s more accurate.

That’s for the newest build? I took that info from the shoryuken home page, it’s the change list for the beta build and was posted January 30th.

From Capcom-unity itself:

Vitality: Life increased (900->950)
Rear Spin Kick: Attack starts up faster and has received a hitbox improvement (12F->10F)
Yosokyaku (headstomps): Hitbox increased
Light/Medium/Heavy Spinning Bird Kick: Last hit causes a knockdown
EX Kikoken: Knocks down on hit
EX Spinning Bird Kick: Hitbox on the last attack improved to hit more characters
EX Spinning Bird Kick: Hitbox increased on first attack to hit crouching opponents
EX Hazanshu: Armor break effect added

Kikousho: Damage increased (330->365)

:slight_smile: okey dokey

those fixes to ex Sbk are quite nice

Lk Sbk knocking down is sweet too

It’ll still get stuffed by crossups I bet, so keep your cr. mk ready.

im fine with that actually

but i really hate that blanka cross you up landing behind you while you are just spinning up side down like a retard

So ex red focus crumple on lvl 1. That’s interesting. We gain many new combos. Old ex kiko FADC strike become HP kiko ex red FA strike, and we get hazanshu ex redFA strike. Our classic frame trap cl.hk>hazanshu can become deadly with close hk> hazanshu> ex redFA strike> cl.hk/cr.hp> etc. Not bad for 3 meter and cr.hp sequence build back a lot of meter so it could be REALLY good for her itsn’t? what do you think?

I would like to see capcom make some change to the command list of chun li.
In my opinion it is what is more important to play her well.

  • The headstomp should be any down like seth and not only down or down-forward

  • Do something about back mk and forward mk when you know the most used move with chun li is neutral mk (between the three move). I know it’s impossible xD

  • Idem with down-forwark lk and hk :confused:

  • Do something about her close attacks, it’s look like Cammy can do them really “far” and chun li need to be really close.

  • I would love to see an ajustement about kikoken stats. Maybe give a bonus on counter hit. I’m not really fan (for now) of ex kikoken knockdown i prefer a better frame advantage if you counter hit a focus at close range

  • can you make ultra 1 more lenient like boxer. Boxer don’t need to end with strict forward, he can finish with down-forward or up-forward but it is not the case for chun li. I would like to use 1313+KKK for U1

  • change the restriction of the air throw when you begin a jump. Some characters like vega, el fuerte and specially hakan can just instant jump + air throw but chun li cannot. If you try, you simply attack with jump lk

I am more afraid of EX Red Focus crumple on Lv 1 than I feel that I’m helped by it. For all the situations Chun gets with it (which admittedly is not many), her opponents get many more. Stuff xx Hado xx Red Focus Lv 1 nets a crumple which is a stupidly easy hit-confirm and it allows your opponent to get a free Ultra (or otherwise untechable knockdown) off a simple hitconfirm which they can buffer during footsies. Since Chun doesn’t really have a move she can buffer beneath her normals so that the move comes out if the normal hits, Chun can’t effectively use this tool like other characters can.

We’ll have to see how it pans out. I’m usually very optimistic but really this change feels disadvantageous to me.

That said, we haven’t heard yet if Red Focus Lv 2 is still unblockable (even on EX Red Focus), which if it is, it costing three meters means we can get guard breaks by canceling from EX Kikoken.

If the EX Red Focus strike is actually faster than the regular focus strike enough to allow a combo from mediums or LLs then I can work with that (I could just do a regular FADC combos from LLs with a little extra execution though). Otherwise she won’t be doing much with it moving forward, but anytime she can get charge for a cr. mk xx kikoken confirm she can use it to extend into something else. Not the best, but it is more options.
I think she’ll be getting more mileage out of her EX moves overall though, so EX RFA might not come up that much.

Meter management (not just for Chun, but the whole cast) is going to be a lot different this time around.
I’m not too worried about other characters’ ability to combo into it because it really is just a very high cost method to land a combo that’s going to be scaled a bunch no matter what and I’ve been playing vs. Gen on a regular basis for 2 years. He’s way more threatening in that area. They can give it their best shot.

st.mp x legs (cancel 1st or 2nd hit) x red focus lv1 should work

regular legs doesn’t work with st. mp

cr. Mk or cr. hp or cl. hk

Do you guys have secondary characters alongside Chun-Li to cover her weaknesses or something? I was thinking of doing this with Fei Long, but then again, with these recent reports of her changes in Ultra, it may end up promising just to stick with her…I don’t know.

I tried to pick up ryu, yun or yang more so than the rest of the cast and so far no one fits my play style. Chun will always be my go to character. I just don’t feel anyone else. Mind you, I like how some characters play when I watch but I can’t get into them. Also, not a fan of quarter/half circle motion moves, they seem to be a real pain for me. Obviously I need practice with them, but why deviate from what’s comfortable? I don’t know why I just typed up that wall of text… I’ve just been playing around with yang this past couple of days and it amazes me how some people can so easily master multiple characters! Took me so long to get decent with one lmao

Good point. Mastering one’s own character and using him or her to the fullest potential takes a lot of work, but when you can win against even the toughest matchups, it pays off. I do agree with you that it is going a bit out of the comfort zone to learn a secondary, but who knows, it might work out, might not for me…shrugs

with a proper antiair

I play Oni as an alt (or the other way around I dunno). He does better against Akuma, Rufus, Cviper, and to a lesser extent Cammy but still an easier match. Chun covers his problem matches like boxer, dictator, and kinda sorta fei long. I would think Fei would be a really good alt to Chun.

Oni, huh…interesting. I can see where you’re going with this. I was also thinking of Yun since I played him a lot in 3S and seems just as good now, even though he’s dropped a little bit on the tier rankings since AE 2012 dropped…no matter. shrugs
