Hey guys, I used a different name here (Jae) a while back but im coming back for ultra when it comes out. I’m really happy with the changes that she currently has.
Lots of old Chun players coming out of the woodworks now that Ultra is coming lol.
I saw Wakasashe (a Chun player from the FG@UCI group and who used to go to super old-school WNF back when they were at SHGLBMX’s house and at Dave&Busters lol) at Super Arcade.
I wonder if this will bring Shizza back…
I’m pretty excited about her tournament viability. I hate picking alts in tournaments.

Shizza was fun to watch, really smart. I actually modeled some of my current tech after his play.
I’m still confused as to why he left the game. Seemed like he was around for like a month or two after Evo2010 then just dropped out of the scene.
Tested a few things.
-Chun Li can’t cancel Super into Ultra
-Cr. lk x 2 xx EX Legs still doesn’t work on crouching Blanka
-No Kara-throw
-B+ MK unchanged (I asked Combofiend after trying some stuff)
-EX HSU breaking armor is its only change. It doesn’t track or anything new like that.
Just a thought… If all legs including EX ver. were to move say .1 or .2 closer in range than it is now but the push back on the 3rd hit/block will be the same push back as it is now PLUS .1 or .2 would the crouching Blanka missing and a few other issues legs be fixed? The loops and all moves/cancel after should technically be the same while getting deeper hits as a start up.
I always thought the problem with Blanka was always a downward hitbox issue. But you may be right, it may be a forward hitbox issue, where his is just too deep in his frame.
Few more things:
-I’m pretty sure I didn’t see Lvl 1 EX red focus “crumple” after comboing from Hasanshu, but I was still able to combo after dashing (HSU xx EX Red Focus, cr. LP, st. LP, st. HP -> 5 hits)
-Hasanshu -> EX Red focus does not keep armor if you just sit there and hold focus.
-
@alphachimp, st. HP still whiffs over some crouching characters unfortunately, so cr./st. LP x n, st. HP is still character specific in that regard.
-Reversal super still punishes Balrog’s new LP rush punch, but the blockstun is a little different so you have to reversal later.
-New jump feels weird after throwing. You’d definitely have to make up new set ups if it stays. I think you can get a safe jump off of B+throw though. I didn’t cross anyone up after either throw. 'Not sure how to do that yet. I don’t know if people were using delayed wakeup or not, but for example doing f+throw, dash, forward jump LK will make you land right in front of the character, whiff the j. LK and I just got thrown/had to tech a lot right after.
-Faster jump means characters like Dhalsim have a much tougher time AAing her j. HK now.
-Double ultra damage is… okay, but I personally would still pick one ultra over having both in most matchups especially with U2 doing more damage in general.
-I like EX Kikoken knocking down. During a fireball war it makes it easy to get in if you trade it with the opponent’s regular FB. It also blows up focus doing that as well.
Oh.
I forgot to mention that her EX SBK hitbox seems odd now. There were numerous times during the loc test when it behaved weirdly - in a way I wouldn’t expect it to.
It’s been too long for me to remember exactly how it was different, but I distinctly remember feeling like it wasn’t better. That’s just me though.
Can you describe what “weirdly” manner that Ex SBK behaves? Does it hit more accurately or is it still have gaping holes that misses?

if we can punish that new rush punsh is either two things:
is not -1 on block
super is 1+0 instead of 1+1
-It was cancelling HSU to the lvl 1 red focus strike hitting and then following up with that after the dash.
-The -1 thing being punishable is probably still the engine quirk at play. Some moves listed as -1 can get punished while others can’t. I posted a list of those moves up some time ago.

It might also mean Bison’s nerfed lk scissors can be punished now (or not), but I didn’t test it.
I used mk version of super too if it matters (and I’m pretty sure this is the only version that actually punishes those rare case -1 moves… it’s also the only version that punishes Balrog EX rush punch on block even though that’s -2).

Were you able to see how she fares right now fighting against the new characters?
Nah. Not a lot of people were brave enough to try the new characters and most just stuck with their mains while playing like it was a tournament match or something. I actually just asked to test a few things to whoever was playing with me so I could break the flow of that and get a little bit more info.
I tried Poison, Hugo and Elena for a bit, but didn’t face any of them. None of them are really finished anyway (Elena has a really low hurtbox that made a lot of normals cancelled into specials whiff on her).
By a guesstimate I’d say Chun has the advantage against all of the new characters, especially Hugo he can’t crouch under st.hk LOL

I’ve always done it as a punish, or at a range where if they press something it will O/S into it.
Though I have done, st.mp, mk hk mk lk (confirm) mk+hk. You have to be real quick about it though, which is why I tend to use it the way I specified above.
