If anyone feel that you have to jump as Chun to win then you have to work on your fundamentals, Chun does not need to jump for anything other than anti-air’ing. I would rather see her current tools become stronger than adding on something that isn’t part of her archetype to begin with.
Her problem right now is not that she isn’t allowed to jump, it is dealing with divekicks and jumps in general.
You’re taking the conversation in a different direction, then where I want it to go.
I want you to elaborate. Let’s hear what match-ups specifically it makes her too strong. A lopsided match-up chart makes a “broken” character. Right? Obviously, her biggest issue is divekicks, and anti airing strong buttons. Her new jump doesn’t change that.
For Guile, he’s gotten better. Wakeup game is stronger, frame trap game got better. Ultra 2 is better. You’re not whiff punishing those mini forcefields called sonic booms. Faster jump in, allows you to react to Sonic Booms at a certain range, and force him to block while you’re at frame advantage.
I just wanted to hear more from you, you didn’t go into detail.
Rose, Seth, Ken, that’s not a deal breaker for them. If you’re saying it affects Sagat, and Dhalsim big time. Then, that’s a problem. Chun’s probably going to beat Sagat w/o it.
Just no, man. If you’re saying you can’t HS over booms, you’re not playing the matchup right in regards to spacing.
I don’t know how that’s going to change in Ultra, but I highly doubt it’ll change.
Now, without having my hands on the game like Skatan has, I’m all for a faster jump, just adds more options. But if it’s deemed to broken, then by all means, take it out. I would just like to see a few new tools (we have those) and a couple of her old tools returned (her sweep returned to Vanilla/Super status)
Your putting it out of proportions, nobody never had a problem with vega or juri 35f jump , i’ve never seen anyone complain about that, hell Im sure most people didnt even know or cared that juri or yun/yang had a 35f jump or other 34f. You can easily AA that.
Im pretty sure that the reason it’s 35 instead of the generic 36 is just that it’s the best choice for safe jump timing.
I looked at what they adjusted for her anti-airs and they all are just fixes to work as intended.
You said, “If anyone feel that you have to jump as Chun to win then you have to work on your fundamentals.” To me, it’s like saying let’s shut down our own tool because we don’t need it or it sucks, here’s an opportunity to have a faster jump speed but we don’t need it at all.
As I remembered, jump-ins are tools also. Should we not use it to win also? Not to say use it alone but aren’t jumps part of any characters meta game?
Everyone will need to work on their fundamentals as this Ultra’s new mechanics (delayed wakeup, red focus, etc…) and buffs for other characters will change a lot of the way pressure game for air to ground and ground works. From what I’ve seen so far in the locktest a lot of characters will have better pokes and better ant-airs, better pressure, and more damage. I want her jump-ins and neutral jumps to be faster, maybe not as fast as it is with the locketest, but definitely faster to apply better pressure, bait, and compete with the new iteration of all 44 casts.
In my honest opinion I think Makoto is new S-tier. At least, based on the build I played.
Also, I don’t see how Chun loses to Guile. Matchup currently is slightly advantageous to Chun and I don’t think the Guile changes are going to change that.
To be brutally honest, the way I see it, Ultra did exactly what it intended to do, at least from a Chun viewpoint. It made existing bad matchups a little better, and made existing good matchups a little worse - at least on paper. If that’s not balance, I don’t know what is.
As for the jump, I just want a better jump than we have now. I think jumping in on characters with bad aa is a good idea, especially with the tc.
The guile match won’t be that different. Whoever gets cornered first loses really. I think chun will be even with or have an advantage against everyone except viper, Rufus blanka and perhaps Yun depending on your opinions.
I don’t see Chun ever being top tier in this game. She will always have the problem of being overwhelmed too easily, and a non-airtight offense. I think she can be very high mid but she’s going to have some bad matchups. It’s just the way the system and her character are designed.
Guile has always been even for me. People are just salty that they have to be as patient/more patient than the Guile, then kill themselves by not being patient and trying to rush in or deal with sonic booms the wrong way.
