SFIV Chun Li General - Fellowship of the Thigh v.2

2nd active or meaty set up or CH lp can combo into far mk

but raw lp cant link into far mk

I think I’m getting the hang of Cr. Hp xx LLegs, Cr. Hk or at least I’m getting lucky enough to connect it consistently.
I’m using Lp and Hk and after tapping out my four MKs for extended legs I count in my head a fifth and on the sixth count I hit both buttons.
seems to be working - still not 100% though

currently training Juri and Ken pretty hard, it is amazing how comfortable Chun feels after messing around with those two, haha!

I haven’t had much time to play lately since I just moved… but I’ve reached the 4000bp mark with 1500pp. I know points don’t really matter but it is nice to see the numbers get larger. Slowlyyyy getting better -_-

But I’m starting to get that sense of dread and feeling like I lost at the character select screen when I see someone choose Akuma, Seth, or any other strong vortex character. I can’t wait till vortex gets a bit of a nerf in the update.

to be perfectly honest, the overwhelming majority of Akuma’s on XBL dont understand why Akuma beats Chun. they play him like a bad Ryu. I have two real good Akuma’s in my scene, and Chun has the tools to win against him, its just tough if you get knocked down, learning to just block on wakeup is really good. cr.mk beats his pokes if you space it correctly.

Seth is tough for some but not for others. Some think its 5-5 (I am NOT in this group heh)

It’s just hard for me because people always seem to do unsafe stuff and I’m always like… Really? Why would you do that?! That and people alwayyysss mash DP and if I don’t successfully link cr.lk, cr.lp, st.lp, st.hp then I eat a DP.

Unless it’s a crucial round ending moment, sometimes I just stop and let them whiff DP. They reset themselves, so I can get a bigger punish for free.

When you’re online, constantly baiting works on like 80% of the players.

^ On that note, I remember seeing some high BP matches (like 10k+) on YouTube once with input display on.

Some 13k Rufus player’s inputs during blockstrings, I kid you not, looked like this:

It made me sad.

Even pro players do unsafe things, you don’t want to get into the mindset that you should always so the safe or right thing, because if you do that then people will know What you’ll do before you do it.

Don’t get me wrong playing safe is obviously important but you have to know when to take risk even if its just to show them that you’re willing to do it.

So with that being said, don’t be so surprised or thrown off by the idea that someone will do a random dp. I know these players aren’t exactly good most of the time but you shouldn’t expect people to play correctly unless you have evidence to suggest they will

This won’t help you much against true vortexes because you’ll get hard knockdowns, but something that works wonders against many offensive players online is to quick get-up into reversal EX SBK.

They will expect the EX SBK and avoid/block/stuff it when you get up normally, but they are much more careless when you quick get-up. A lot of them probably don’t even realize you can tech the knockdown without losing your down charge, by tapping down-back or down-forward instead of directly down.

What are you talking about, why would you tech using the stick instead of your buttons?

Damn, I didn’t know you could tech falls using the buttons (just checked it now). For some reason some guides only mention the stick method. I’ve been using the direction tap method all this time, and I had to tap the diagonal to conserve charge. >_>

lol

Thanks for all the helpful replies everyone! This is probably the nicest sub-forum I’ve come across on SRK xD

I played a bit more and was able to get to 5000bp with 2000pp so that was nice. I kept getting pissed off though because everytime I was 1 match away from 2000pp I’d lose… this went on for maybe an hour and a half?

Anyways, I think I’m done playing online for a bit. My last few sessions have made it glaringly obvious that I need to work on getting my combos down… and things like dash U1 down too.

chuners are gdlk

Yeah don’t sweat the online too much, it will only make you gray. Chun-Li does not lend herself well to the lag either, unlike say Honda or Blanka.

Play only for lol’s and if there’s really no other choice.

I just tried PSN last week and the other week, and I remembered why offline is so much better.

Lol, currently training myself to tech with the buttons, although my stick hand insists on teching by itself.

Lag with Chun makes me saltier than anything on the planet
Her anti airs are pretty strict as we all know, do it too late you get trade or beat out, do it too early you eat a combo.
I love it when I have a charge and throw a kikouken in lag and all that comes out is St. Mp - it’s horse shit! haha

Anyway I’m about to subject myself to some online play. I’m wanting to hit up ranked with my three characters and see how far I can get.
I’m rocking the select screen triangle and my XTk triad - Juri, Chun-Li, Ken
Wish me luck, I’m going for B+ on all three

To be honest I didn’t think it was nearly as funny as the Blanka is a troll videos, but I still love you Chun.
… just wondering, but how many of you guys go to youtube, search Chun Li, click the today filter? I think I’ve been doing this everyday for a little over a year now lol.

You mean this one? I don’t know, I think the quality is a mixed bag. http://www.youtube.com/channel/HCplns6J4xvU0

I got tired after the umpteenth MUGEN or Third Strike video.
