SFIV Chun Li General - Fellowship of the Thigh v.2

It hasn’t been officially announced, so its still subject to change. But the video they showed Chun-Li CLEARLY has a much faster jump speed. If they keep it yes, it will mean you need to learn new set ups. Simple as that.

its not simple as that

they are messing with years of work

a new jump would change all of her set ups, that can be a good thing as in new posibilites on some characters, but i dont feel like trading good set ups for crappy ones.

I love how lazy you people are "No I hope her jump doesn’t get buffed, than I have to learn a new safejump timing"
Yeah… let’s just forget about it being more useful in EVERY situation, I mean… why change it to become better when you have to learn one new thing?

Relearning jump-in techniques isn’t a big deal, some Option selects may change like OS/U2; due to the opponent wake up and your jump timing being different.
But because we already have the knowledge that those tools are available all we have to do test them out.
losing Jump-ins after ExLLegs is my primary concern, because I abused those with stupid success.
We may have to delay the jump slightly, but then you never know, we might be able to stuff 3 frame reversals with a fast jump arc.

plus if she can jump faster she’ll be able to go Air-to-Air faster and go into MK stomps easier
Your opponent will have to relearn how to anti-air you and the stuff they have to adjust their timing/strategy to learn her new speed.

I don’t she necessarily needs a faster jump, her floaty nature has been something I’ve just accepted as a balance to her walk/dash speed.
I’m wondering how much faster Ken’s walk speed will be - I used him a lot in SFXTk because of his walk speed. May have to adopt his ass in USF4

With a faster jump arc you can do ex legs and jump over without eating a shoryu to the face because you want to get out of the corner

you are calling ME lazy? gtfo

im not the one who switch chun for sakura or some other bs, dont you dare to call me lazy

Hi!

I just joined. I realize there is not a ton of discussion in these sub forums but anyways, here I am

Hopefully with some new changes to Chun, we might se more high level play in various tournaments!

run before its too late!

 I’ve been playing for some years but before the update to this website I could not for the life of me register. Long time forced lurker ^^

welcome enjoy it while you can!

I never said I didn’t want to learn new stuff but I’d prefer to keep her jump as is because her jump helps define her, she has always had a floaty jump its a part of her character. I don’t really care if a faster jump is better if I cared about that sort of stuff that much I’d not main Chun and would just go a character that you just learn set ups with in training room or similar (obviously I’m simplifying characters like Seth, Akuma, lots of other characters but you get the point).

Its fine to buff her but keep the elements of her that make her who she is and if you don’t think she can be competitive then don’t use her. Also as much of a problem I have with Malv because of his attitude and tendency to treat people like idiots (even when they aren’t, something by the way you seem to be doing atm) the last thing I’d call him is lazy, have you been to his channel and seen all the safe jumps, unblockables, sets ups, gimmicks and general tech he’s put out for Chun in the last few years?

Anyway buffing Chun is good, learning new stuff is fun you acting like some sort of celebrity just makes you look like a prick and as I’ve said I want Chun to still be Chun that’s all, she’s been my character since ST in the arcade and was part of the reason Kim Wu was in KI2. Maybe you don’t see it like that if so just go top tier and maybe you’re not meaning to act like an ass if that’s the case sorry for any offence caused, if you are talking down to people on here though… well that’s just a little sad.

And to you I say hi, enjoy the forum be careful of peoples attitudes, and you’ll find a lot of Chuns on here aren’t very active for various reasons… And my point of view is yep it looks like Chun’s got better but then everyone else is or will as well and high tier characters don’t seem to be getting nerfed all that much, just changed. So I imagine people will try her/come running back to her for a bit decide she still has too many issues and use a mix up character or something similar…

Still welcome and err bye lol

Welcome aboard CruS_
Pay no mind to the occasional fueds
I’ve been lurking for awhile myself and only recently became ‘vocal’ again.
If you have any questions just lay’em out!

wii i have said it before my attitude as you called it is not other than disappointment

do i have to spell it for you?

IM DISAPPOINTED of guys like you, skatan, lud, cardell, OHT, magman, and others because when i was learning chun i came here and i found amazing ppl sharing stuff, helping each other and what not (magman was always a troll tho) i wanted to stay here because i felt that this was the way to do stuff i was inspired. I miss so much the guy who bring up the swedish firecracker btw, where`s he now?

But then from the last couple of years this forum is almost dead and outdated, just because those very same players i looked up to are gone, moved on and/or just dont care anymore about making chun better. When i try to help there`s was always a reason to take down my ideas just because im not “pro player”, but even then did i quit chun? did i said chun is ass so im going to switch characters? if anything i have been toying with some characters that are very close to chun like Vega and even then in tournaments i choose to play chun not because is just my main but because im a strong believer that chun is fucking amazing.

but then im being accused about being lazy? gtfo

So if i sound to you a little bitter, angry, whatever is because i actually am at you guys for being so neglected

ill try to improve my speech, grammar and what not but thats not an excuse for what have being happening the last couple of years, its not my fault you guys think chun is ass, thats your fault being lazy and lazy just for waiting magical buff from capcom but you know what that shit inst happening, we are going to work with the same tools we got now you like it or not.

Thanks ;))

I would I also like to say hi too! I joined about a month ago, but I didn’t really post anything and I usually come here just to look at the match-up thread. So, I would like to introduce myself, start posting, and maybe ask for help and any questions if I have any. I’m also pretty excited with the new changes for chun.

Don’t get me wrong, I would welcome a U1 juggle fix, it’s just not that high up on my list of priorities. When Chun is getting overwhelmed by dive kicks and vortexes, or when she’s having trouble opening up opponents I’m not thinking “Man, if only I had U1 corner juggle I could win this match!”

My personal Ultra choice chart…

U1: Ryu, Ken, Honda, Ibuki, Seth, Akuma, Gouken, Oni, Dhalsim, Sagat, Cody, Hakan, E.Ryu, Guile, Blanka, Zangief, Rufus, T.Hawk, Rose
U2: Makoto, Dudley, Gen, Dan, Sakura, Yun, Juri, Chun, Abel, Cammy, Dee Jay, Guy, Yang, El Fuerte, Balrog, Adon
Either/Or: Viper, Bison, Vega, Fei

I’d be really happy if Viper/Bison/Fei/Akuma corner juggled, but the rest of the cast…meh. Most of the non-jugglers fall into my U2 category.

The buffs I want most are the health buff, EX SBK fix, and extra hitstun on HSU. Everything else is nice if it happens but won’t really fix her fundamental problems. Chun’s frame traps are ass so I’ve been playing with using lk HSU more. One or two in-close jabs and then LK HSU. It does blow up crouch tech. Being able to combo off this more easily would go a long way in giving her offense-generating abilities.

The jump arc thing is still just speculation and could’ve just been an illusion in regards to the videos framerate and whatnot. This is just going off of feeling, but I feel like the jump-in combo from that video was in-sync with me setting that same situation in training and timing my jump with the video.

I understand it’s frustrating to put in work on setups, combos, etc. only for them to be obsolete (I complain to my friend all the time about the skullgirls patches killing my combos and the changes to Marvel 3 kind of made it not worthwhile for me to play the team I like), but it’s still much appreciated and still useful now… while we have over half a year to be competing and plenty of majors to go through.

Having said that, a system change (such as one that could affect the oki game as a whole) can just as easily throw some work out of the window and force us to unlearn some habits as well. If that happens, we gotta work with the changes. It’s gonna be a new game and I just hope Chun will have the tools to run her game more effectively within that version.

i dont have any problems with relearning my set ups, i spend most of my game time in training room i can do it no problem there

the thing is what if those changes give us 0 set ups post throw like vega?

i mean have you seen a set up from our b.throw?

that´s what im worry about

Ibuki is my main. You think I’m not mad Ibuki’s neck breaker is a soft knockdown now? There goes every set up from every Ibuki player ever. You’ll just have to deal with it. New setups will come. There’s no reason to get mad.

cmon now dont give me the ibuki problems

she had it coming
