I have one question. Why does everyone like my Rocky palettes so much? They’re not that great.
I think they’re the best out of the bunch and also a fresh approach. The more I look at the inky dipped gloves the more I like them
they allow for replication of the films in question

Liking the refresh Klaxor! They are all very consistent and original, great stuff.
Alien, what if I told you I spent hours, HOURS on Dudley’s gray suit alone?!?! It was based on a gray and yellow Crockett I saw on Miami Vice once, so I stuck to those colours. I do think your edit looks better though, must more 3D as well. This was done when I thought each shade should only be a touch different than it’s adjacent colour - that’s like a recipe for flat sprites

As for those Satsui no Hadou palettes I said I was going to do, i’ve decided to scrap the idea. I’m too busy to make that many palettes. I have a bunch of Evil Ryu based on his past appearances that i’ll upload, but that will probably be it for a while.

For other Duds edits I was more thinking of drab tones like his EX pal, but this Miami Vice style could suit the char well too !
I could try to make the trousers a warm yellow grey as you started it, but I chose blue to further contrast/complement the orange shirt.

So I finished Alex at last, but I still feel like he could be improved on. Have a look and let me know your suggestions. In my opinion he’s actually quite hard to edit and I never really liked his character design anyway (there, I said it).

Note that you can change the colour of his t-shirt, but not his flash attacks…
(unless you find them and use the ‘extra palettes feature’)
The punch buttons give you jungle warfare themed outfits and the kick buttons give you urban warfare style. EX is meant to be Swedish Alex or something, I just wanted to do a white get-up with grey hair so that’s that.
Alien saw some of these a while back and said the pink hair was gay. I guess it is pretty numpty but when you consider Alex fights bare-chested, with a ponytail, makeup AND he wears dungarees - I think that makes him pretty gay to be honest.
I don’t play Alex ever so it took me a long time to think of 7 colours and they are all pretty similar, but I had to post something for him.

a bitch to edit in palmod, but should become pretty easy once we’ve made a spritesheet on ESN’s site for him. (for an example, check twelve’s on ESN’s, I made one for him)
I’m adding a link on the first post to a “How To” that ESN wrote to explain how to add new editable things to his site and making new pals there.
It’s still a WIP tuto, he should improve it someday if he hasn’t already and I should also write a part with tips on how to edit something properly.
Ho and btw ESN added life/super Bars, but got bored along the way so it’s not fully done. enough to toy with though.

Remaking ST pals did teach you some new stuff as how you have these greyish mid value desaturated colours as light (mostly on skin) !
Very personal edits, yes a lot look alike each other but it’s good mate !
At last you got the volume along with the colours.
Still, to nitpick, I’d say I’m still not always convinced about this “camaeu” (hope I’m clear there, online dictionary gives the same word in french and english) approach you have, well, I like it, but using a complementary colour for part of the char does sprinkle contrast in it IMO.
eg. HP spinach teeth Alex (does he have green teeth because of the shirt or because of the white of his eyes? don’t remember…)… maybe having the make up on his shoulders and face another colour… say a variant of red or anything else actually… may make it look better.
I’m aware you did that on purpose but I’m just saying
slight updates to ESN’s site, here’s an example of what more you’ll find here than on PALMOD.
For chars, though, I’d advise to start your edit with PALMOd, then upload you pal on ESN’s and finish editing in photoshop/ESN’s.

Here’s a quick word about it, that I’ll probably use as a foreword in an upcoming tutorial on editing properly.
ESN’s set of programs change every colour on a chosen palette range into unique colours -understand “all slightly different from each other”, hence the red/black gradient look. This allows to “map” the colour palette, knowing exactly which colour slot of the palette is used on what part of the sprite, discarding problems you can have with redundant colours on a pal.
Once you build up a “matrix” spritesheet of a char, stage or effect, you can load it on ESN’s database to apply any palette to it.
Or, modify it in photoshop and get the colour codes of the new palette you created. The program Builds the palette codes by checking both the “matrix” spritesheet and the one you modified.
Hope it makes sense, feel free to comment/ask/rewrite if it’s unclear.
