Just thought I’d mention, Ken actually recovers more quickly from his Hadouken than Ryu does, I’ll have to pull out the Zero 2 Bible when I get home for the exact frame data.
I’m well aware of that actually, I have the Zero 2 bible. Ken’s isn’t as good because it has slower start up and doesn’t knock down or travel as fast, making it annoying, but much less of a threat to where Ryu’s is really a god-like poke. Good on finding that mistake though though, I’ll change it. I need to stop writing these guides at like 4 in the morning lol.
How sad is it that Gouki/Akuma has the worst Hadouken in the game? Same startup as Ken’s and worse recovery. Does it still knock down?
It does, but only real close a la c.lk c.lk xx fireball (could squeeze a third c.lk in) which I still use since a knockdown for Akuma is gravy. Best if you can confirm they are crouching and do fireball, or standing and do mk hurricane.
sick guide.
much love to jeff brian darian carlos and martin b
I be takin my time fo0
i wasn’t being sarcastic! it’s easily your best guide, we don’t need anymore new players picking up that dirty whore
I would like to learn SFA1 before SFA2 and SFA3, but there are no tutorials for that game. Maybe the best way to learn is to do it alone.
There is really no point, only ones you will find comp for is A2/A3 on ggpo. If you know other people then go for it, but as far as I know NO ONE ever plays Alpha. Your point of contact for that game though would be dialupsucky, he posts in the collection thread http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=113551&page=56
who ever wants some guy ass whooping let me know
Why does the AC reversal method you talked about in post 34 work technically?
“The way to to this is to do any normal that is cancellable, and hesitate a split second and dp/super/teleport.”
Specifically, I don’t get why it works like an option-select, since the dp doesn’t come out if they don’t AC. Can you not cancel blocked normal moves into specials/supers in A2?
Oh, and any chance of seeing the A2 frame data scans any time soon :wgrin:
No rush, but it would be cool to have available.
It works due to the freeze that happens during an alpha counter. You’re “cancelling” it so late that if they don’t AC, the move wouldn’t come out otherwise because it’s past the frames in which you can actually cancel it.
Only person with the a2 frame data that I know of is RSX, he’ll have to get around to scanning it.
What Dreamfire says, and basically it’s a OS cause you only cancel if they ac into a move, moves that if were to be blocked would be bad, such as a super or dp.
I’m working on getting the scans, I just need to buy a scanner or find someone with one.
Mind if I ask where you got the frame data from? I’d like to get my hands on that… and I have a scanner too.
I have ALL ABOUT ZERO 2 Japanese guidebook which has alot of shit to include frame data.

Mind if I ask where you got it from? I have a PDF version of AAZ3. Great stuff. and GGs last night man, thanks again for the schooling.
which version of tiger uppercut should sagat use for his ac-reversal?
Thx guys. That’s interesting, so do all cancelable normals qualify for this? Because I know from other games that some normals can be canceled at any time, while others can be only canceled in their beginning frames. If a2 works this way, then wouldn’t only normals with the latter property could be used to counter ACs?
Just use fierce, there’s no reason not to as long as you don’t fuck up the timing for ac-reversal.
Any normal you can cancel, can be used to ac-reversal but you’ll avoid things like c.lks or c.jabs because they don’t have enough activate frames to cancel it late. You’ll want to do meaty things like a shoto c.fp, c.mp, c.mk, etc.
A quick list off the top of my head, so if I miss any character just lemme know and I’ll add their most used AC reversal:
Ryu/Ken/Akuma - As mentioned before c.fp, s.mp, c.mp, or c.mk, cancelled late into DP. Any of these are easy and probably the most basic and most seen AC reversals. In Akuma’s case you can AC-reversal with teleport and be really safe while baiting their AC in the process.
Adon - Only really has c.mp into RH DP
Chun - s.mp, c.mp, c.mk into qcb + k overhead special. Overhead has a good bit of invincibility so it beats a lot of ACs but not everything.
Guy - A bit iffy. I’d just use c.mp or really late c.mk (2nd hit) into MK hurricane but it can lose to a lot of things. If you wanna burn meter c.mp/c.mk into qcf + P x2 Super should beat most ACs.
Dhalsim - Can bait with teleport just like Akuma, other than that not too much. Wouldn’t even use a super to AC reversal, better off saving the meter.
Gen - Probably the only character I don’t have much experience with AC reversals. I’d assume c.mp, c.mk into RH DP would work fine.
Sakura - Not a lot she can do since her shoryuken is too slow startup. You either have to AC reversal with a super or just eat the AC. Use s.mp or c.mp.
Rolento - Mainly c.mk into qcb + jab. Doesn’t escape everything but it’s pretty nice.
Gief - C.lk or d/b c.mk into KKK lariat. Will beat pretty much anything
Charlie - I don’t AC reversal with Charlie since you’d have to lose your charge since you won’t know if you’re going to actually AC reversal until the last minute. Save the meter.
Birdie - Pretty sure all he can do is c.mp into turn punch? (And cancel into super, but not worth it) Anyone feel free to correct me.
Rose - Surprisingly not much. c.mp or c.mk and maybe c.fp into qcb + P x2 super is mostly it.
Sodom - s.mp, s.mk, c.fp into qcf + p x2 super, and MAYBE 720 super but I havn’t tested that so I’m tossing around some crazy theory fighter.
Sagat - Mainly just c.mp into fierce DP.
Bison - c.mk or c.mp into teleport.
Dan - c.mp, c.mk, or c.fp into (pray to god) a white DP, or just a super.
