Because despite all the hate, v.2013 is an arguably better fighting game than AE2012 (with the game being having more sound footsies compared to IV) and alot of the stupid stuff in SFxT were added at Capcom’s behest.
More importantly, it shows that what they make doesn’t necessarily have to play like SFIV all over again.
A mechanic that returns both players to mid screen if one has been kept in the corner for to long.
a comeback mechanic like X-Factor in UMVC3 so new comers have a fighting chance.
One button supers because your best move shouldn’t be so difficult to perform.
something like capsules in the DBZ Budokai series. I like to abuse my super move so a meter regenerating effect would be awesome.
A Mechanic where if your foe does the same move too many times it becomes temporarily locked.
No chip damage when your health gets too low. No one should take damage while guarding at all frankly.
LOL but in all seriousness the only thing I can really think of is just a solid tutorial. That’s the main things casual fans of fighting games want. If Capcom would just make a good tutorial that teaches them the basics without it being a chore then people will be all over it.
Honestly I think the last thing we need is a stereotypical anime artstyle. I agree that for the most part SF IV is sinfully ugly but really with the kind of stuff being put forth in Xrd I would like to see capcom do something that brings to life the stylized artwork of the past (See my avatar).
I don’t want the franchise to end up like final fantasy where beautiful stuff like this:
The scary thing is that stuff like this has already happened in other fighting games (MK9 and Injustice have 2 button supers, P4A has no death by chip).
True, but at the same time the games were not ruined by it, i am not saying that SF5 should do it, but those things should been see within the context of the games.
All GG have death by chip damage, the only way to prevent it is using barrier guard or slash back
All SF5 needs is guard break, custom combos, and super. Leave EX moves but take out armor, make them cost meter. No more ultras, no focus attacks. No air blocking. What do you get?
-Rushdown is rewarded because of guard break
-Custom combos and supers make for comebacks and flashiness
-Zoners don’t have a million obstacles to deal with
-Grapplers have guard break, EX moves to evade fireballs
Also, no more meta based around hit-confirming out of jabs for every damn character. Offense should be quick and brutal with an emphasis on finding good openings. I wouldn’t mind seeing FADC but ONLY for extending combos. Nothing else.
Yeah, Melty Blood also has not death by chip damage. There are characters with good legit chip stuff, but chip doesn’t kill off a character so the player has to earn that actual hit to win.
Games that have it are games that don’t have “faultless defense” kind of option. Which means MB AH P4U… Since GG and BB have a way to prevent chip, they don’t need to have this limitation.
