SF5 Rumors - What features would you like to see?

So apparently Street Fighter 5 may be kicking off development, just curious as to what features everyone would like to see in the new game?

A few I’d personally like to see:

  • A useful button check option! Done exactly the same as it is now (select/back in the character select screen), but after going through the initial button setup, another screen/window comes up that shows your inputs just like it does in training mode, so you can press all the buttons and see that all of the inputs are coming out correctly.

  • ‘Region’ searches include people outside of the country that are still close! Eg. Canada & USA.

  • Team battles where everyone selects their character at the start, and the game doesn’t need to reload to start each round (and the ability to do this locally as well!)

  • A rematch button in 1v1 endless, and possibly ranked being treated as endless is now (you stay in a lobby with the player after the first game and can continue to play more games)

  • Cross Compatibility! Playstation Xbox PC all able to play each other - this may be a bit of a stretch but this game would benefit hugely from it.

  • ‘Tournament Mode’ - A mode specifically for tournaments with the most common tournament rules, with the ability to change these rules in the settings or when it is first loaded up, in the same way that you choose the settings when you first go into a local versus match.
Example: Best of 3 match - different win screen when someone wins the set rather than the individual game. If after 1 game, someone goes back to the character select screen, the winner is automatically locked in to their same character but can change their ultra, while the loser can change to whoever they’d like.

  • The ability to enter player names in game! (Using a keyboard) - Instead of where it says Player 1 and Player 2, enter the player’s actual names - would be a cool feature for tournaments

Top tier claw.

Great Netcode, so everyone can enjoy online.

I would like to see a much smaller cast (something akin to Alpha 2, 3rd Strike, or Vanilla SFIV).

I’m against a rematch button for ranked, rather, put one for 1-on-1 endless or just make separate modes for lobbies and player matches.

Use a different engine, the current engine is “Eh”, but they can definitely do better.

Have most of the characters be “stupidly” good.

  1. Agree characters should be crazy strong, and encompass the full gamut of fighter types. DO NOT SHOW TRAILERS, OR HAVE PLAYABLE DEMOS BEFORE THE RELEASE. The way people whine, a roster of gods could easily become a roster of pansies.

  2. GGPO netcode.

  3. Ambition. Like SF2, or SF3, or even Alpha. Don’t just try to create a more modern version of previous SFs, try to make the ‘5’ actually mean something. It should also chronologically take place later than any other SF game. I’d prefer a middle aged Ryu to be the only returning character, but that would never happen. I do hope there is many more new characters and no wasted roster spots (no clones, shared animations/models, etc)

  4. Generally MUCH faster walkspeeds, hitboxes/hurtboxes that function properly, no blatant comeback mechanics (like Ultra).

  5. 2d HD 1080P is what I would prefer, but something like what Xrd did would be almost as good.

Guard crush
No focus attack
No ultras
Short super bar or super stocks
Faster game speed
Medium sized char roster
New characters, no clones

EDIT:
ggpo #1
new engine
online integration on the main menu - streams, news, updates, friends playing, challenges, etc
DLC system like Valve games, where costumes are dropped for playing; can be sold/traded among players; and a portion of each sale goes directly towards the game devs to keep coming out with more content and also going to potfunding tournaments (I’ve seen some crazy potbonuses in counter strike because of this, Sony and MS can add a user based marketplace later in the new console’s life). This could be a hook among the casual audience since you don’t have to spend any money to start trading costumes.

I would like to see no DLC.

Dimps again? Hope it is something else like Darkstalkers (why only SF and MvC players deserve all the lazy chaff?); otherwise my expectation are quite low.

4 button scheme (light, medium, hard, auto-combo)
regenerating health and super
dubstep soundtrack
gritty RE6 graphics
free to play PC exclusive
microtransactions for exclusive gems, characters, and moves
real-time auto-balancing so that pros will hardly do any damage against casual players

  • New netcode

  • New engine

  • New visual look(can still retain anime look, slightly less exagerated and and no steroid Ryu or Ken, something more similar to the polished anime intro CG)

  • Less input Leniency

  • Less link intensive(1-frame nonsense, however it still being prevalent, don’t want a chain or target combo fest)

  • Faster pace

  • Guard crush

  • Alpha Counter

  • Better anti-airs

  • A comprehensive tutorial mode(Teaching the fundamentals of the game and also teaching about mixups and mindgames, showing scenarios etc etc)

  • More expansive training mode(hitbox and frame date viewer, choosing reversals on knockdown or after blockstun finished etc etc)

  • A proper story(More serious undertone. Want to gain new people into the FGC, this is one of the hallmarks)

  • Plenty of unlockables(Local play mode every character is unlocked for the convenience of tournament organizers, for online play, no. Unlockable costumes, stages, soundtracks, titles, character art, model viewer, specific intros etc. Something similar to MK9 their graveyard Again something interesting for the “casual” players)

  • New modes(Ranked being ft2, KOF-esque mode where each choose 2-3 characters, challenge modes which challenges you to blokc crossup and mixups, dealing with fireball minigames etc)

  • 1080p and 60 fps

  • Around 30-35 characters max

  • Stages having more focus on nature(desert, grassland, mountain, jungle etc)

  • Each stage having multiple settings(snow, rain, day, night, spring, fall, summer etc)

TLDR: New game with pretty visuals, loads of casual content and ofcourse faster gameplay while still being solidly designed. Helping beginners with the game by multiple fun modes and gradually make them understand certain concepts

If SF5 comes out, I want it to be like Super Street Fighter 2 or Hyper Fighting. I want the balance to be tight, no supers, no ultra, no dumb come back mechanics and no dumb moves with armor non-sense.

Oh, and 2D. None of this 3D garbage.

no comeback mechanics, less input shortcuts, or none. a tutorial mode that is very in depth to help new players become intermediate. Bigger damage, better anti airs.

I would also like to see a “social” feature, that is, the game should notify you of big streams when they happen.

they already have a new engine and a game using it ( Deep Down ) , ther’s no way that they re use the old ass SF4 vanilla one

It will be a new Darkstalkers

  • Uses SFIV engine with character models modified from SFIV characters (i.e Blanka -> Sasquatch)
  • Brings back the classic sprite for Morrigan
  • To help make footsies easier, walkspeeds have been slightly reduced to a universal value of 0
  • Adds a bangin’ vaseline filter for sleek visuals

This is not just a rumour guys, I heard it from the guy who talked to the guy who knows the guy who borrowed money to FlashMetroid.

Normals moves does no damage, special moves does big damage, walkspeed has a overall value of 20000. Jumps are 2000 km or feet or wethever tall. There’s no block and dashes reach fullscreen. Best game ever

In the article it says “The World’s No. 1 Fighting Game”. That could only mean Street fighter.

No compensation nerfs anymore, stronger anti airs and midrange tools , less defensive options, a community that doesn´t always cry for nerfing the strong stuff in this game. Higher punish dmg for everyone and something like a StreetFighterTV with live matches and streams(Like DotaTV.) :). AND NO SAFE REVERSALS.

-No focus attack or parry/pseudo-parry
-Guard crush
-Zoning, rushdown, and grappling all viable
-Throw tech the same way it was in SF2 (i.e. you take less damage)
-Very small reversal input window!!!
-3D art but with a serious tone, less comic-y
-Make themes more Japanese-ish, not stupid dubstep
-No comeback mechanics
-EX moves but no armor
-Oki not revolving around constant 50/50 ambiguity
-A training mode that explains footsies to novice players so I don’t have to deal with HERP A DERP
-Remove Fuerte and Rufus forever.
-Accessory customization ala Tekken
-No more AA trading!!!

do something about this 1,2-frame link nonsense (like take it out).

Juri needs to be a fixture for all future iterations. I guess Poison too. I’m not a fan but she’s popular.

publish modkits.

At the beginning of the arcade mode el fuerte gets canonically murdered and is never seen in a fighting game again
