SF5 Rumors - What features would you like to see?

You’d be surprised how many people care and how many pages threads get on Steam and other forums that deal with her gender and shit.
This stuff isn’t as “normal” as you would like it to be.

I remember when a thread like this would have all kind of idea’s and breakdown of the type of “engine” it should use? Combo system, Character types, etc etc… I look through this now and just have to smh.

You missed all that earlier.

Proof? I don’t see how Gief is because there is nothing that says he is. Hugo has no sexual relations with Poison, she is just his manger & friend, anything else beyond that is just fan fiction. Seth isn’t gay because someone said he has no gender, this quote “This body is merely a vessel. Should it become frail, I simply find a replacement.” meaning he can use a male or female body so he see himself as being or some shit.

Go back to gameplay topics please. The title is what features you want to see. Characters sexual preferences is not a game feature.

Hinata

Eagle, Venom, Eddie and Poison

Gief says and I quote

“I do not prefer women of marriageable age”

Capcom referenced this in CvS2 with the special intro with Eagle when they were both twirling around in the same direction.

What game is the quote from? Also, the SF wiki states he dislike young, beautiful women cause he view them as a distraction. I guess women of marriageable age will keep him his goals too.

Or because they both have a move in which they both spin the same way.

Ok, I got a question for everyone here. Would you guys want to see plinking return? I could care less if Capcom includes it or not, but how about you?

Seems that this’ll only happen if people actually actually start talking about gameplay, so I guess it’s time to start.

One of the things that I (and I believe most of us) find disconcerting about SFIV is how most everyone tends to play it fishing for hits from lights (jab, short). Aside from a few exceptions, most people learn to start poking with a crouching jab or crouching short. This also has the interesting effect of making the game look as if it’s an offense focused game since you often see people in each others faces, poking with jab or short and occasionally going for a throw into cross up, despite the fact that the game’s mechanics actually make it a defensive game.

Now, the question is, why is this so? Actually, I we already know the answer to this - footsies in general in the IV series are weaker due to a number of reasons.
-Shitty hitboxes - stuff doesn’t control as much space as they used too.
-Slow walkspeed - harder to walk in and out of cr.mk/cr.mp range so it’s better to stay in cr.lp/cr.lk range and pressure
-Low blockstun - coupled with the more lenient reversal window, this makes it safer to use jab/short since other pokes are more easily punished by reversals.
-Low damage - you get as much of a good poke and therefore people start going for confirms off cr.lp/cr.lk

And I’m sure there are a few other bits about the engine that make this so.

So in relation to SF V, I believe I’m not alone in wanting these things to be fixed and for proper footsies to be strong again.

Specifically, IMO, the important thing is the return of strong and forward as the preferred normals for poking/fishing over jab and short. Traditionally, it’s these pokes that are the ones that are best use for controlling space since, well they did control more space than jab or short and, they tended to lead to more combos than fierce or roundhouse (the crouching versions of which usually knocked down). And this can be done simply by addressing the issues stated above.

That said, I’m not above adding a few more engine tweaks to encourage this and/or discourage the current jab/short centric style of play (e.g. making scaling out of cr.lp/cr.lk worse).

No, I would not.

i thought Claw is gay…

Claw likes beautiful people and he madly loves himself. SF wiki list what he likes: Beautiful people, beautiful things, himself, Chun-Li, Cammy.

They don’t care. It’s completely trivial. Capcom has confirmed that she’s transgender. That’s it, move on with your life.

The topic of gender diversity and diversity in general is a great and interesting discussion, but it does not need to be jammed into this discussion. Stick to the topic of SF5 features (as opposed to character meta-attributes) or you’re going to be infracted.

Thanks!

I like it. Not the actual input itself but the effect.

It doesn’t open the window for anything enormously, so control of the game remains tight, and it’s a mechanic that rewards pressing your buttons without mashing.

I would actually be okay if the game just plain let you hit a button a frame early, cut out the input mechanic and give the effect. SF has negative edge for specials, the net effect of plinking is to give the same extra frame to normals.

I don’t want plinking because everything should just chain at this point. for example jab, jab>jab shoryu is stupid just let me mash me 3 jabs out or w/e and call it a day why over complicate it.

also @D3v one of the biggest contributing factors to weak footsies IMO is the encouragement of jumping I think there should be a damage buff to air to air and ground to air hits. In sf2 you’d lose what like a quarter of your Life for a bad jumpin I think thats fair 2 rounds if you die from aa’s alone thats 8-10 bad jumpins, Now AA’s do 1/12th to 1/10th, you can get away with 20-25 bad jumps. Compared to the reward of an average jumpin netting you 25-30% (35-40 with resources), it’s not hard to tell that the risk reward is skewed way in the favor of the Jumper not to mention all the nasty oki you get after the jumpin conversion.

As far as jabs go, I would like if standing jabs would miss when you crouch. That would reduce the dependence of jabs.

My biggest worry on the whole jab problem is that Dimps may be so used to how the game plays now that they don’t know how to make an SF that doesn’t play like that.

My biggest worry is that Dimps are the ones assigned to do the next SF. The worry is compounded with the incredible financial success of SF4, meaning that with how conservative Capcom is, it probably won’t stray far from that.

CAN’T WE FOCUS PEOPLE!?

Aren’t we talking about new characters to add into SF5?

We are talking about a lot of things, but if you want to talk characters, go ahead and say something.

This. I was playing as Oni and I realize my shoryukens where doing pitiful damage in the air and I was only getting 40 points of damage (for max damage, you have to delay your shoryuken pretty late). Hell, hitting with your normals does more. Damage should be buff all around.
