If you consider this… SF5 is going to be released on physical discs , going for full retail price , in actual stores…
I have no idea where some of you people are getting f2p from , seriously. I am starting to think that
the bunch of you are xbox owners who are hoping that SF5 turns out to be as shit as KI is.
If the game would be a digital-only release (which it won’t be) then i would see how f2p would**maybe ** be a thing.
plz drop that thought , and look forward to a complete fightinggame which will hopefully live up to most of our expectations.
Why would the choice of business model have any effect on whether or not former players return? I guess it might scare away people who don’t play games with the model by default, but F2P is a model that’s all about how you handle it.
I honestly think KI handled the model pretty well, and would like to see more fighters do the same thing. The biggest problem with Capcom doing an F2P-model is that Capcom doesn’t exactly have a good track record when it comes to handling digital purchases for a game, so if they actually decide to do it, I hope they learned from the trainwreck SFxT caused.
Didn’t KI have the option of buying physical, with all content included, or downloading the game for free and then purchasing the desired content?
Ppl should actually take the Killer Instinct & DOA5U owners opinion into consideration, since we’ve been playing a F2P fighting game first-hand for over a year. We can give you the pros & cons.
You’ve read the news stories about Capcom exploring F2P, you’ve read the NeoGaf rumors, so SFV becoming F2P is a very real probability. It’s not a bad thing at all if Capcom doesn’t get too greedy.
You also need to buy SF4 in order to learn the matchup in SF4. If buying the whole roster ends up the same price as a regular game then what is the problem with additional options of splitting the game into smaller parts? Who said it has to be like LoL where buying the whole cast costs $620? http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4609480
League of Legends one of the biggest competitive games in the world (maybe the biggest) starts you off with zero characters, and LoL is far from pay to win. Buying characters individually can definitely work, but they can’t restrict you from playing against that character if you don’t own him. In LoL you are able to play against everyone from the start, you just can’t use them unless you purchase them and it works out fine.
I think it would be interesting if the game turns out to be f2p and uses a system similar to LoL.
I really don’t see a arcade version coming out tbh. Especially since they said the game is being built specifically for ps4 and using its system and the foundation for the game.
I like the idea of new players, at least the ones that are willing to learn. I like to teach and if I can make sure theres one less newbie mashing 24/7, then I feel like I really accomplished something. Teaching is half the fun of fighting games IMO.
The choice of business model could effect if players return or not simply from dictating if they can try the game’s mechanics for “free” or if they have to purchase a game outright. That’s a big difference imo.
Hurr demo version won’t let me learn all match ups !!!
Come on guys, you can’t be this stupid.
If you CAN buy all the characters in a reasonable price, but only get few to start… what’s pay to win in that? You’re paying to play the full game, not paying to win. It’s like giving a free demo of the game, which handicaps you unless you buy the full game.
What’s unfair about that? You are given FREEEEEE access to a game where you are handicapped with few characters and can’t learn all match-ups. You can then choose if you want to buy the full game (aka all of the characters).
F2P will definitely get more people playing than a full disk based version only. How many people who have never played a fighter would be willing to drop $60 versus playing the game for free and finding out that they really like it?
Also don’t games with a F2P model often offer bonus content for buying the full package? Like most people on SRK are going to do anyways.
i would like if the game start with a price of 40 bucks with a rooster about 16 characters
and than at every 3 month a new one for like 5 bucks
but imo the most important thing to get new players are good story ,good single player stuff
and good online play seriously i think online is the most important thing
good modes, good match making ,good rank system , no cheating , no multiple acc using ,no wifi or at least the choice to not play people who use wifi, to make it more fair and a competition again.
SF4 got me back into games a little bit. SF5 however might have me return to the scene entirely. Especially after I’ve been watching a lot of the new faces come and go. Perhaps I can train my old man reflexes to function with the new one. I’m always excited, however, when I see other members of the community welcoming one another.
Also, if there’s an online training mode with SFV, then it’s going to be amazing and you best believe I’m going to be on the look out for sparing partners.
