The choice of business model could effect if players return or not simply from dictating if they can try the gameās mechanics for āfreeā or if they have to purchase a game outright. Thatās a big difference imo.
Hurr demo version wonāt let me learn all match ups !!!
Come on guys, you canāt be this stupid.
If you CAN buy all the characters in a reasonable price, but only get few to start⦠whatās pay to win in that? Youāre paying to play the full game, not paying to win. Itās like giving a free demo of the game, which handicaps you unless you buy the full game.
Whatās unfair about that? You are given FREEEEEE access to a game where you are handicapped with few characters and canāt learn all match-ups. You can then choose if you want to buy the full game (aka all of the characters).
F2P will definitely get more people playing than a full disk based version only. How many people who have never played a fighter would be willing to drop $60 versus playing the game for free and finding out that they really like it?
Also donāt games with a F2P model often offer bonus content for buying the full package? Like most people on SRK are going to do anyways.
i would like if the game start with a price of 40 bucks with a rooster about 16 characters
and than at every 3 month a new one for like 5 bucks
but imo the most important thing to get new players are good story ,good single player stuff
and good online play seriously i think online is the most important thing
good modes, good match making ,good rank system , no cheating , no multiple acc using ,no wifi or at least the choice to not play people who use wifi, to make it more fair and a competition again.
SF4 got me back into games a little bit. SF5 however might have me return to the scene entirely. Especially after Iāve been watching a lot of the new faces come and go. Perhaps I can train my old man reflexes to function with the new one. Iām always excited, however, when I see other members of the community welcoming one another.
Also, if thereās an online training mode with SFV, then itās going to be amazing and you best believe Iām going to be on the look out for sparing partners.
Releasing characters in increments sucks, its one of the few things I dislike about Killer Instinct. By the time KI realizes its full roster Iām not sure if Iāll still be interested in playing it, what with MKX and SF5 releasing. SF5 should release the vanilla game whenever it releases, then have a character expansion once a year.
They never said it was going to be free to play. They said they wanted to avoid releasing further discs with prefixes and so. That means you buy the game once, but the every further update are going to be actual DLC (and not talking about ādisc-lockedā⦠but who knows with) and there will be no extra retail discs.
Maybe they even drop physical format, now that I think about it.
That sounds more like Ono saying they wonāt have add-ons that sway the balance of the game like SFxT gemsā¦also not sure some peeps here understand the difference between pay-to-win and free-2-play.
Dunno why anyone would be against a F2P model like KI, unless theyāre just an idiot.
Itās more than a basic demo, it actively letās you participate in the gameās environment, and a lot of my casual friends bought KI cuz F2P mode kinda guaranteed wat they would be buying to a degree.
After SF4, I would sure like to see how the game runs, particularly online, since Capcom has such an amazing track record of getting shit right on the first try.
Well fuck.
RIP Fighting games. Itās been a fun ride, but the developers will never learn.
Iāll stay with whatās left of you in the future, though
EDIT: I 100% take this back after watching capcom cup.
Youāre looking at it one-way. A F2P fighting game can be a full retail game. 16 characters, 24 characters at launch, story mode, whatever.
The idea with F2P is that you donāt have to buy the full roster of characters if you donāt want to. New players that just want to demo the game with the āfree character of the monthā can see if they like the game/character. And when Capcom updates the game to Super SFV, you donāt have go out and buy a whole new disc to experience it. It will update for everyone who has SFV vanilla, and you can buy the Super SFV characters if you want them.
But itās confirmed not to be F2P, so no worries. Lol
I donāt have to explain why myself and many others dislike/hate the f2p model. Iām not gonna sit here and write your shitass
a list of why that is. You go figure that one out for yourself. Idiot.
Iām over this. But i still find it funny that some of you wanted a f2p model of Street Fighter. If you take a look at most f2p games youāll notice that itās done by smaller developers. So expecting it to be implemented in such a flagship game like SFV is ridiculous.
The ppl that actually own F2P fighting games, like myself, are just squashing misconceptions.
Iām cool with SFV or any fighting game going either way. But I understand that what Street Fighter does with releasing a new disc iteration every 2-3 years is tradition, so many do not want to stray from that.
