I feel your pain Ketchup, I really do. I live in the Netherlands as well and it’s pretty damn hard to get your hands on a stick, or when you live in the EU in general. Hell this is like the only coming of arcade sticks to Holland since… Well, I don’t even know so that should say enough.
Immediately canceled my pre-order and waiting for the second batch ATM. Haven’t lost faith yet, but I guess I’ll just have to entertain myself with my C.Viper figurine and my Dualshock 3 pad.
I’m from holland too and after reading these posts about the SE stick (which I had pre-ordered) I’m thinking of canceling my pre-order too and going for the pad. The standard 360 controller sucks donkey balls for fighting games…
This is exactly how I used to think, but all these complaints on this and other boards are eerily similar to what I saw about the rock band drums when they first came out and sure enough my first 2 sets had to be replaced. There were also lots of helpfull people telling you how you could mod your drums to make them work better, just like now, it was all to similar. I’m going to subscribe to the where there’s smoke there’s fire theory here.
And while I appreciate Markman and madcatz fixing/replacing these under the warranty I think that with these problems right out of the gate what kind of long term lifespan is this stick going to have? The guy who helped design the stick keeps telling us we should replace all the parts in it…that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. Long story short I pulled the trigger on canceling my pre-order and ordered a HRAP EX. I’m not happy about the price difference but the peace of mind that I have a tested quality product on the way is worth it.
I will say please save the racist comments and the nerd rage for some other forum, it’s not helping.
your the best bro, i would have took it back to the store and have a sledge hammer in my coat, geta firend to take it on cam and smashed it into a million pieces.
on a serious note, will the new batch of se sticks (faults have been address) be labeled or marked as revision 2, as customers need to know if they are getting the previous model(prone to faults) or getting the (newly fixed version).
has this problem beeen singled out as 1 seperate batch or is it the enitre production run up till now?
I don’t have an SE yet, but I’m definitely planning on getting one. I think MadCatz should ultimately extend the warranty (voided or not) for those with sticking problems and just send everyone a Seimitsu/Sanwa replacement stick with detailed guided instructions on how to replace it.
Just think, $10 bucks shipping to MC, $10 bucks in labor on MC side to fix product, $10 bucks for MC to ship back = $30 + 4-6 weeks repair time.
Seimitsu/Sanwa stick is $20-$25 (probably less for MC if they buy in bulk), and $5 bucks shipping = $30 + 3-7 day ship time.
Yeah Im returning my pre-order, no offense, there’s a possibility that the stick won’t come fucked up, I am not taking chances when its the 17th. I’ll purchase and mess with it later when I am not strapped for time, but as for now, the game is more important than the controller…
You don’t deserve to be lynched, these are legit problems.
I preordered my SE sticks specifically to mod them, so I won’t experience this problem when it’s released here in the UK on Friday. However, it’s a matter of principle, the product should work fine and be durable out of the box.
Try using it first, they’re not all bad. My second one has been working fine. (you have 30 days to return to gamestop as long as you didn’t open up the stick itself)
OMG all i can say is I feel your pain about that fuckin mounting plate…Dude honestly i dont know the fuck you got that stick apart…just the clear restrictor alone made me not even try. Shit was on like a beast. But now i see why I couldnt get any of the screws to come out…Lucky for me though I had a seimitsu with a mounting plate already. My best wishes go out to you man I hope everything works out for you.
This is just a general statement directed to people who are getting this stick as there first arcade stick. ANY stick you buy that does not have aftermarket parts such as seimitsu, sanwa or happ is GARBAGE. Arcade sticks take alot of abuse, especially if you just started playing on joysticks. Little effort is usually needed to get a desired effect. So the harder you press the buttons you basically are doubleing if not trippleing the wear and tear. Main reason you do not buy anything other than sanwa, happ or seimitsu. If you do you should be expecting to modd it. People not only buy those name brands for their excellent feel, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY FOR THEIR DURABILITY.
I have owned many sticks with good name brand parts in there. Honestly this is the best jap stick i have ever owned after I put in better parts.
Does anyone SE stick when moving the joystick around, feel a little bump when in the down-left position? I always hear and feel the strangest bump in that position, only that one though.
I’d still rather take this stick than drop money on the EX2… At least if something breaks its an easy fix not like the EX2 where I have to whip out the dremel and cut and grind thing off…
Update: my second stick is sticking now as well. So I guess even if you get a good one there’s a chance it’ll eventually start messing up. Guess I’m going to have to hit lizard lick.
