SF4 Standard Edition FightStick - Problem / Defect Thread

Problem:
4 Pin connection joystick to PSB keeps disconnecting

Solution?
what do you guys recommend BESIDES glueing the 4 pin? In any case, if the joy stick goes out, i dont want it to ruin the stick.

  • I’ve tried taping it to it but it doesnt stick. i’ve tried isolating the wire with tape but that doesnt work too.

Thanks!

The PCB of my SE died, well just the direactional part because the buttons were working ok but no movements were registred. I’ll be changing the PCB for a Madcatz Xbox Controller.

I have an issue with my SE stick too.

I modded my SE stick with sanwa buttons, and I replaced the joystick with the stick from my TE, since I modding it already, and now I cannot press down on the stick. The buttons work, and I can move right, left, and up on the stick, but I can’t go down. Anyone know what is wrong. The joystick works in my TE, and the old SE stick works, but the TE joystick does not work in the SE. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

About 2 weeks after getting my SE FightStick I started having the problem involving stick movement not being registered (until frantically wiggling the stick around would fix it temporarily)… it started getting more frequent so I swapped out the stick and buttons for Sanwa parts and all was good (FYI I noticed no damage to the PCB even though the washer was clearly moving around indicated by the grease marks all over the place). However, after a few weeks of heavy use it my now Sanwa modded stick decided to develop the same problem. I’d be playing the Trials and all of a sudden no movement was registered by the stick. A few fast rotations of the stick and it would work again. But now it happens once in every 5 quarter circle throws and it’s getting increasingly frustrating losing otherwise brilliant fights due to a fault. I’ve just popped open the stick again and no damage is visible on the PCB. In fact, it still looks brand new save for a few greasy bits where the washer is STILL moving around.

Really I suppose the only help I need is finding out if it’s the wiring, or the washer is doing something to stop the stick from working… and if I should glue it down, or simply remove it.

Any help appreciated guys. :frowning:

I just got my TE in this month so I have been using it for about 2-3 weeks already. My Turbo and Home buttons don’t work already. Are they easy to break or something? only 2 weeks and they don’t work already. I’m thinking of sending it to MadCatz so they can repair it for me because I have no clue about fixing sticks. How long does it take them to fix it and then mail it back to me?

franny87, this user here http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=183168
said it was roughly a 2week turnaround with the SE stick. Still under warranty, so you should use it if you aren’t tech-savvy.

erm, have you checked that your bottom slider isnt set to locked?

Nope is not locked. The buttons are totally not working. It kind of sucks because I’ve only been using it for 2 weeks.

Has anyone heard of anyone having problems with a Madcatz TE stick? I have this wierd problem were my LT and RT keep going out. Anyways I mailed my stick back to madcatz and they said they fixed it replaced the PCB in it. Then they mailed it back to me and it still has the same problem. I’m so mad I don’t even want to call them back.

so i was in training mode when i noticed that i couldn’t even do viper’s bnb consistently. and then i realized that if i held left or right for around half a second, viper takes like 2 extra steps when i stop moving my joystick. however, viper doesn’t take the extra steps when i hold the joystick longer or just tap it. and when i try to turn off my console by holding the guide button, it won’t let me move up to ‘turn off console.’ im stuck on cancel, but i can still move up and down the training options.

i opened up the stick and didnt see anything wrong. do you guys think this is a joystick or fightstick problem?

i have a SE fightstick, with a sanwa, square gate, joystick. seimitsu buttons as well but i don’t think that matters cause all the buttons work fine.

Do you have your stick set to DP or LS?

I got my stick yesterday and noticed that when it was set to LS that I would have the same problem as you (well, as far as characters still walking when I wasn’t moving them) but when I set it to DP it wouldn’t happen anymore.

And I have a problem of my own, would it be worth it to send my stick in for a defective 3K button? I’m gonna be getting Sanwa buttons to replace them, but I don’t want to end up opening up my stick, replacing the buttons, and it ends up not being the buttons that were the problem. How common would a PCB problem with buttons be for a brand new SE stick?

Can the washer issues be solved by just removing the washer all together? And are the occurrence of the SE PCB issues common or a rarity?

edit, do i need to get a new pcb? or am i totally screwed and new to buy a whole new arcade stck

I have a question, i got a new stick in my SE around may(sanwa), things worked good up until today, its stuck in the down directions and when i randomly do 360’s on it it may be move to another direction so my question is , is my pcb board messed up? is it the switches? i have a pic of my board, im not sure if its in good shape.

I’m having this same problem except for me it is both RH and KKK buttons that go out. I unplug and replug an that seems to fix it for like 5 minutes then they go out again, rinse repeat.
Annoying the fuck out of me. Doesn’t seem like this problem’s been solved yet. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I’m expecting some Sanwa button replacements in the mail but it seems this will not solve this particular problem… :frowning:

If a replug fixes it, it likely is a PCB problem. I’ve got a dual-modded stick and the 360 side dies once in a blue moon which is corrected by a replug; the PS3 side doesn’t have that issue, ever.
If a button just plain doesn’t work, it’s the Madcatz plastic failing you - get some Sanwa/Semitsu replacements

I just started having a problem with my modded SE today.

I have it fully modded with sanwa buttons and a JLF. Buttons are working perfectly, stick stopped detecting movements. verified everything is connected and tight.

When I first got my stick, everything was fine. Suddenly my RB button won’t regeister anymore. I opened it up already, is there any way to fix it?

Take your LB Button and swap them around with the LB Wires my RB button went out too out of the box.
That’s a temporary fix, If you have no idea what you’re doing and how to do it look up a tutorial first and seek help.

Best way is talking to tech support and seeing if you can send it back.

@MrMoon
Thanks bro, I will try your first solution first. I just want to try on my own fix before I send.
