My hard punch button will randomly stop working for about 5 seconds every now and then. I would just replace the buttons, but I’m afraid the new button might have the same problem. I’ve also had one of the buttons stop working altogether but I reconnected the USB and it hasn’t happened since. Should I just call and ask them to fix it?
My SE has begun acting up after only a week of use. It’s not sticking, but it has stopped registering down-left if you slide from down to down-left. It registers only if you slide from left to down-left. The switches aren’t clicking, which indicates that the joystick is missing the microswitches. I’ve read over much of the thread, and seen this mentioned a few times but no fixes. Any ideas?
My only option to return is an RMA, which would take 2 months. I bought it from Amazon.
Thanks a lot for the guide and I followed it step by step and my joystick sticking problem is solved. When I slightly move the stick I still hear something rubbing off something, it just doesn’t sound or feel right. Any ideas what may be wrong?
I couldn’t seem to find any other problem like this except for one thread, but no actual solution was offered there:
I tried the SE stick for myself (I was skeptical cause yanno, it’s MadCatz) and found it worked fine, so I decided to get one for myself. It came in just earlier today, and after getting used to it I found I liked it far better than my regular 360 controller (well, I would like…anything better than my 360 controller).
However, I noticed that at random times, when inputting a QCB, down-left wouldn’t hit. I realized that the joystick wasn’t hitting the left microswitch when held to the bottom-left corner. This happens randomly; the stick has already been opened up (I tend to do things myself <_<), so I don’t think I can do any returning. Looking for a way to fix this, thanks in advance. Here’s a 29RoQi2jSk4"]horrible quality video explaining it all, and thread proposes the same problem.
EDIT: Oh god, how blind am I? TheWorstBalrog two posts above me is having the same problem. XD
My SE Madcatz stick has been pretty good since I got it (except the fact that the buttons feel horrible). I had one issue after having the stick for a month or two where a couple of the buttons stopped working but I just turned my 360 on and off and it started working again. My main problem now though is that sometimes when I press a button it presses the one next to it aswell so when I’m playing street fighter it often pulls out ex attacks when I’m only pressing one button and I’m dreading thinking about what will happen when Tekken’s out and it starts pressing both punches instead of one. Also the LB button sometimes is really unresponsive.
Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think replacing the buttons with Sanwa buttons or something will fix the problem?
What would the effect be of removing the washer completely?
This forum is very interesting

I might wrong, but if i remember correctly the hole on the black plastic is a hexagon or octagon shape. So you probably wouldn’t get very smooth movement. Also the stick shaft would wear down the plastic around the hole after a while.
I have a 360 SE modded with a Seimitsu stick and Sanwa buttons. I’ve had the randomly defective RT button problem (button stops working and I have to unplug then replug the stick) so I took the wires from one the 2 buttons which I’m not using but again it’s randomly defective. WTF !? :annoy:
My modded SE stopped registering inputs today in the middle of a game. Not just a few buttons like some other people, but it wouldn’t recognize any inputs at all, even the headset cut out. I had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working again.
I don’t think it’s a cable issue because it didn’t ask me to reconnect my controller, it just stopped responding. Seems like a PCB issue. Kind of makes me wanna switch to the HRAP EX, but I really like the size and layout of the SE better… if only MadCatz didn’t make such low quality shit.
My SE’s joystick just stopped working. It’s got a sanwa JLF but i was in the middle of a match and the joystick wouldn’t respond, all the other buttons worked but the joystick didn’t respond. I tried switching back to the stock one and that didn’t work either. Has anyone gotten this before?
Yea that just happened to me too yesterday. I just replaced the stock stick with a Sanwa JLF as well this week and it was working fine for a few days. Then today while playing MVC2, my joystick would only register down motions. I figured it was just the wiring harness with 5-pin connector becoming loose from the stick, since I noticed it was pretty loose when I switched the sticks and took off the glue Madcatz put on it.
I glued the 5 pin connector and my stick was working fine for a couple of hours but now I have to push my stick all the way to the right for it to register a right motion, instead of just pushing it until I hear a click like the other 3 motions. The harness is glued in and is definitely secured, so I’m not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?
a friend of mine has a problem with the SE on windows XP…he installed the madkatz driver but sometimes the HK and START don t work anymore after some games… do you have any idea what s going on with his stick?
HEY GUYS I GOT BOTH THE XBOX360 and the PS3 version of the SE stick…
i noticed that the PS3 usb cable does not have a detachable part like the 360 !! so if u trip on your cable whilst playing PS3… its RIP for your stick !!!..
ANYONE ELSE notice THIS ???
The buttons are fine, feels solid and durable, nice long wire, came in good shape aesthetically. I’m very please with my first stick and now i just have to get used to playing with it . (and i cant wait to get some sanwa buttons and sticks to stick in them)
Hearing about all these defects is starting to worry me. My budget is extremely limited, I just can’t afford to blow 80 bucks on a defective stick.

^^^ then buy an hrap. fuck gay ass madcatz. my se only gets used when i play someone else offline (which is rare) and i even put all sanwa parts in it. well, after hardly being used, my roundhouse button went out. i put 3 different brand new sanwa buttons in and none work. piece of shit pcb fucking waste of money. i hate sf4 and all the shitty products that came with it.
stick with hrap, god knows i wish i did.
Hi, I got the SE stick like about a month ago and I was wondering if I buy the new Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Joystick along with the pushbuttons and octagonal restrictive plates together do I still have to worry about the washer and having it glued in order to make it stabilized? or should I just mod it and not worry about gluing the washer?
The more I read about this, the more it gets frustrating
Help would be much appreciated, thanks.
if you mod it you won’t have to worry about the washer issue, all you’ll have to worry about is the PCB issue.
hello everyone…
i just ran into a problem with the stick.i got like the 1st batch when they came out and i have sawna parts in it…but i just tried to plug it into my 360 to play…and the guide button blinks once and then it doesnt connect…i used it yesterday and it was working fine…is it something inside messing it up.? anyone else have this problem and a way to fix it…thanks in advance:wgrin:
