Well my SE stick has finaly given up the ghost and started regularly skipping directions, just go to put off “fixing” it with a hammer until I can order a sanwa replacement.
It’s hard since I’m falling into the pattern of attempting to use it, getting pissed off when it fails, leaving it for a while, thinking “maybe it was just me” and then repeating )
Hey guys, just modded my SE stick with sanwa buttons and the sanwa jlf, but my stick is not responding to anything. No directionals on the joystick , no turbo, start/select/, or any of the buttons are doing anything.
Anyone have any ideas in what could be the problem?
It’s a little different obviously, bat style if you like that. I find it easier to focus cancel things with it. Also nice it has 4 or 8 way gates if people care for that stuff.
Does the washer problem exist for the TE fightstick?
I’ve had mine for a couple weeks, and the stick just started to get stuck. (IE, I will be crouching down and back, and will try to return the stick to neutral, but it does not respond right away as it should).
I’ve looked through this thread and it seems this problem was happening exclusively for SE sticks. Does this happen on TE sticks also, or am I experiencing a different problem?
I have a question too. A few weeks ago I ordered an SE Stick but after 10minutes two buttons stopped working. So I sent it back to the shop where I bought it and they couldn’t deliver a new one so I got my money back.
Unfortunately I don’t have enough money for a TE Stick.
I’m thinking about to buy a SE Stick once more but I have one question.
Should the Button and Stick problems disappear if I change the stock parts completely with Sanwa parts or are there other problems with the stick that I can’t fix easily?
So the recent SE sticks are still having problems? I swear i want to buy one, but not if it’s going to break in a week. I don’t want to mod anything. I just want to play without using a rubberless 360 analog nub.
Do NOT buy it if you absolutely refuse to mod. Mine wasn’t defective, but it was a piece of CRAP until I modded it.
It never officially broke down or anything, but the stock buttons got wonky after a good month or so. They didn’t cease to work entirely, but they wouldn’t always react to the inputs. Once I made the switch to Sanwa, I never encountered the problem again. It’s a horrible stick on its own.
Thanks, i was just about to place order on Amazon. I’ll go with the HRAP ex it looks like. Unless i can find the TE on sale for about 120 or so. Just to clear things up: The HRAP has Hori buttons, with Sanwa stick, and the TE is all Sanwa right?
Get the TE. All Sanwa parts, just like the arcade cabinets. It’ll just take a little time to break in the joystick, but that won’t get in the way of its performance one bit.
I just ordered the SFIV SE Fightstick and it should be here in a few days. I was just wondering what the problems are besides the cheap pushbuttons and the cheap stick? I plan on switching it out with all Sanwa parts in about a month or so, but besides the cheap buttons/stick, are there many problems regarding the PCB or wiring?
I’ve heard of both faulty PCB’s and of the PCB being scratched from using the joystick. Those were apparently the only the first few batches, however. My modded SE works fine, no scratches, and the buttons are responsive as any. Mine is a first batch, modded with Sanwa.
I’m quite happy with my SE, been playing on it for 4 months and probably around 300h.
But now my medium punch button is flinching and I’m hoping it’s just the button and not the PCB or wiring (is there any easy way to tell without opening the thing up?). Been planning on swapping the buttons all along though, but wanted to learn on these as I’m new to sticks, not mashing quality buttons with scrubby play!
Okay thanks. The buttons and the stick I’m probably going to replace in about a month or so, so as long as it holds for that long I’m fine. If the joystick PCB gets scratched the JLF sticks come with their own PCB so that shouldn’t be too much of a problem then, right?
