Yeah i wouldnt mind clarification on this as well. I’d read a rumor in a couple places that this was happening, but i just shrug net info off like that cause its usually trolling.

However, i dont see if they would be since so many places have already gotten so many. Well, unless theyre shipping them out in multiple shipments, compared to a couple huge ones. (which i imagine would be the norm, but dunno)
Just mod the joystick that’s what I did. Plays like a dream now. Expect to pay 50 dollars in parts but it’s worth every penny.
So is the defect with the arcade stick beyond just changing the gate?
If I change the gate, is it still going to have problems reading directional inputs?

I am like a hairs breath away from canceling my madcatz stick and scrounging for change in the couch to order up one of these. At this point I just want something reliable that’s going to last. I’ve had so much stuff break in the past year from my xbox RRoD for no reason, 2 sets of rockband drums becoming unresponsive…at this point I don’t want the best and I don’t want the cheapest I just want something that’s going to still be working when SF4 hyper ultra remix combo fighter 9000 edition comes out next year. And it doesn’t sound like the SE stick is the answer. :sad:
The gate has nothing to do with it, it’s the pcb with the microswitches on it.
i’m also having the sticking problems and was wondering if i buy the Sanwa JLF joystick, do i have to buy the Sanwa GT-8N 4/8-Way Restrictor Plate to make it 4-way? and if i plan on replacing only the joystick, are these two parts all i need?
i just got mine and everything is fine, no sticking to one side or anything. but im thinking on switching to the octogon gate.
My first FightStick (Standard) I picked up had that sticking problem… I went to GameStop to see if I could get an exchange for another… they first said I wasn’t able to since it was all reserved, but they called up the manager, and he was saying he himself would be pissed if he threw down $80 for a stick and it didn’t work. They gave me another stick in the end… who says GameStop employees aren’t helpful?
Someone on 8wayrun said the SF4 Stick won’t work on PS2 Games via BC, How about PS1 Games

same here, i am pretty bummed about my stick hah. i know its not your guy’s fault but meh this sucks lol.
I went into my GS today to return the second SE stick that I got, after fixing the first one.
I told them the problem and they were all too familiar with it, they told me that several of the people who picked up SEs already returned them for the same reason. The store manager who was talking to me then said, “Madcatz… that’s why I didn’t even bother with the TE”.
All this talk is making me piss my pants… I live in the UK and mine doesn’t get to me till the 20th… geez, I hope my first stick isn’t a dud. I’ve had so much faith that this stick will be there to tide me over till I’m comfortable with sticks, but now I’m scared shitless it’ll just break down or something.
I know being negative don’t help, but living in the UK means it’ll take MUCH MUCH longer than it would for Americans to have it shipped back to me. I’ve spent 130 on this game and on a student budget, thats a lot of money. My fingers are well and truly crossed.
I pretty much had the stick getting stuck on one of the diagonals about once or twice since thursday. It wasn’t that bad but I went ahead and did the fix ErcsYou (Thank you for sharing the info!) explained in the first page. Took out the stick as in the whole thing from the mounting plate, then square gate, then the PCB, and applied super glue underneath the loose metallic washer. When I took the whole stick out, I did not take off the big square plate with the 4 screws that held it together with the rest of the components (Square gate, PCB and others) to be clear. Just unsnapped the clear plastic gate and then the PCB to get to the washer part. Now no more stuck inputs on the stick!
After that, everything is working fine aside from minor sticking of the buttons when I press them after long use. I personally planned on modding it even though I void the warranty by doing what I just did. Probably had been one of the best sticks outside of using Sanwa and Seimitsu parts aside from these minor problems. I’m content with my purchase knowing that I will replace these parts in the future anyways. But if you’re just going for the stick with stock parts, you’ll be happy with it if you get a good one.
I am also problem with the stick getting stuck when going left. I don’t have money to replace the stick yet but I will sometime next month. Question is, is there going to a permanent damage to the stick if I don’t replace it right away. I plan on buying Seimitsu LS 32 and does it come with a PCB just in case mine breaks.
