I’m in Europe. I bet that call alone is going to cost me 20 euros or something xD I really want a stick, but I’m just confused right now. I’ll wait it out I guess. (A good move would be to make the warranty 2 years for everyone, imo)
The bottom right button on my fightstick stopped working when I was in the middle of fighting gil in 3s. Along with not responding when pressed - the button feels like it went a little dead, like its not as heavy as the other buttons anymore.
I opened up the back to make sure all the wires were still connected. Everything looks cool, but I don’t know anything about sticks. Is anyone else having problems like this, or know of a way I could possibly repair mine?
So this is good news…or at least it kinda sounds like good news. I assume MarkMan can’t actually write the words “we’ll pay for your shipping if your stick is fucked up” so this is the best he can do. This is what MadCatz should do. That’s good customer service so I hope so.
No, i dont believe so. The PCB that is in risk of being damaged is on the joystick itself. When you take out your joystick and put in a sanwa it will be fine. The madcatz joystick is damaging itself and only itself. So dont worry.
Personally, i ordered a new stick and buttons this morning from lizardlick.
We appreciate the work you guys put in when making these sticks, aside from the sticking and damaging issue it seems very well made. However, it’s very unfortunate that this issue wasn’t noticed when testing the sticks. I’m not sure how the quality control works at MadCatz, but i’m a little surprised that so many of these were made and shipped out and nobody noticed that extremely common sticking/catching issue that we are all having…?
I noticed my stick was getting stuck within minutes of playing, and then when the same thing happened on my second stick i realized that it must be an extraordinarily common problem. Yet nobody at madcatz noticed it? Nobody took the time to open the stick, notice the loose washer and recall the stick?
Most of us got these sticks to play Street Fighter 4, and many people still haven’t got a hold of their pre-ordered sticks right now. Obviously this is a pain in the ass for people who want to play the game with their sticks next week. While many people are going to have to send their sticks back in to be repaired and may not have them back for weeks. – Most of us haven’t had good experiences with madcatz products in the past and this isn’t going to improve a lot of people’s outlook.
I’m not going to be sending my sticks back in a wait a month to get them back with replacement chinese-made sanwa knock-off parts. I’ll make do with my current configuration until my sanwa’s arrive in the mail, and ill pass on my next madcatz product.
Yes, you are right, some people seem to have their controllers working ok for now. It’s just that there are already dozens of posts in several forums about faulty units. It’s not something anyone should expect from a quality product. It is something anyone should expect from something like a Mad Catz product based on their previous offerings, however.
Until recently, that is of course. SFIV sticks were marketed as being “quality products” unlike previous Mad Catz offerings, but after reading about numerous problems with them (many of the same nature), I personally don’t feel like paying 80$, much less 150$ for a Mad Catz “quality product”. After reading this thread and other similar threads I really think it’s wiser to go for other brands.
Mad Catz had a chance of improving their name with this product, but it seems they have failed, sorry to say.
Just got my SE and yes I understand about the “certain direction” issue but what’s really bothering me is that for some strange reason I cant play Anniversary Collection on my PS3 with it or any PS2/1 games with it. Is this a PS3 issue or the controller? It looks pretty though. ^-^
side note: Which LS model is recommended for modding? Just curious. I got spare Seimitsu buttons laying around after warranty is over.
I brought my stick home today… played HD remix for about 3 hours and noticed the same sticking but this soon dissapeared for me. As for people having the dissapearance of bottom 2 button response I think I know your problem.
That is if your playing HD remix lol. When you first start playing the bottom 2 buttons are unassigned. This is easily fixed by going to help and options from the pause menu and assigning these buttons. You may have a true problem with your stick, but this is just something that scared me for a moment when I just opened it.
I feel bad for madcatz actually. I mean, most people werent big fans to begin with, but people had a lot of faith in these sticks, and for a problem like this is probably gonna put a pretty big hurt on mad catz as a company, and in current situations, thats no good. (dont need em goin outta business and puttin more people outta jobs.)
I am rather curious how this got by as well though. And extremely bummed about it. I’m hoping to land the te now that i was gonna try and ebay, and avoid the se situation all together. (i wanted te anyway but gf gave me dirty looks, defects helped my case!) However, it seems like a simple enough fix tha i wont need to bother mad catz with it, and can just replace it. (which is another reason i was excited about these anyway)
While it is dissapointing that this happened, im not gonna go about pointing my finger in rage. Mad catz did make a serious effort to put out a quality stick, i think that shows. Its a bummer and a half that it might be a bum product.
Either way, im still pumped for my stick and will be purchasing one of them regardless. Especially with the community here to help out if i run into any problems. Some rather intelligent people here when it comes to sticks.
I think MarkMan listed this as a “B” tier stick. Of course the TE stick is going to be better, they paid 70 more bucks than we did. It’s like they’re using Sagat and we’re using Dan (no offense to them Dan fans).
I have some stickiness, and I’m pretty sure my HP is kinda screwed up, but I’m going to play through it. Here’s my advice: Start ordering Sanwa parts. Practice with what you have right now. When the parts come, execution will become even easier.
The stick is VERY easy to mod. It’s simply remove and replace.
I got the flyer from game xrazy, they had the collectors edition in stock, I bought the last one…
Ok here’s the deal…
Everything feels great, you plug it in and you get going and then the problems come…
I feel like my arcade stick only works on ONE side of the screen…
For example
If I’m on the right side of the screen, and my opponent is on the left, I can pull off flawless, 40 out of 40 Dragon Punches…
But if I’m on the left side of the screen, facing right, I go 0 for 100 with the dragon punches, the same can be said for the fireballs as well…
Now before you say “maybe its the square gate your not use to it” I don’t think thats the case, before this arcade stick I had (still have) the Hori Fighting Stick 3, and I can pull off flawless dragon punches with that from anywhere on the screen, and thats a square gate as well.
ALSO
If you push up on the joystick, and let say Ryu jump up and down and then push to right up/left up the character will not move in that direction.
