so i just got my se last week.
So it should be the new batch meaning that the washer problem is fixed right?
I dont want to open it up to void the warranty. Plus I bought a 1 year warranty at eb games as well just in case.
Anyways, my X button doesnt respond properly anymore. I would have to press it hard or press it multiple times to get it working. Everything else is working fine at the moment.
So my question is…If I were to take out all the stock (buttons and joystick) and replace them all with Sanwa…then would everything be good ?
I read things bout the PCB problem as well. Will replacing the joystick stop the PCB scratching?
Sorry but Im new to this.
Being new isn’t something to apologize for. Being lazy is. Every single question you’ve asked has been answered repeatedly in this and other threads that populate this sub-forum. Please take several enjoyable moments to read them.
2nd day of owning the SE stick… couldnt stand the inferior quality joystick/buttons n e more, so ripped them all out, and replaced with sanwa joystick/buttons (which were ripped out of my TE stick LoL)…
now putting the SE parts into my TE stick… hawhawhaw
My FightStick’s LP button is starting to die on me. Sometimes, it doesn’t register or the input registers late. I’m hoping it’s a problem with the button and not the PCB. I’d hate to open it up and replace it only to find that it’s an issue with the PCB.
Same goes for me bro.
Ordered mine on the 12th. Wiggles a little bit, but I glued it down.
Picked up a PS3 SE yesterday because i didn’t want to wait any longer for the TE.
So me being impatient has paid off, when i connected the stick to my PS3 i was surprised it actually worked pretty good. ( responsiveness )
Though after doing a few combo’s i noticed that the hard kick button wasn’t responding too good anymore.
I decided to open up the stick and check what was wrong with the button.
After looking at the button i quickly saw that this was a refurbished or roflmonday stick?!
There wasn’t a quick disconnect on the offending button, they soldered the wires on the switch?
All other buttons did have the normal quick disconnects.
Not being to able to order Sanwa parts at this moment, so i decided to switch the faulting switch with the 3kicks button switch.
After i had done that i wanted to swap the wires on the terminal so it would still be seen as the correct button.
So what’d you think?
That this was going to be easy? LOL NO?!
The purple wire with the quick disconnect from the faulty switch had been soldered as well!
And apparently they didn’t think it would’ve been good to let the solder harden out before putting it back in the strip?
As a result i couldn’t ( quick ) disconnect it! :shake:
I took out a needlenose plier and tried to get it off the strip but the disconnect broke halfway and sat there on the strip, how frustrating.
I eventually got it off with a little pressure, afraid the pin on the strip was broken as well due to the pressure because it got bent in the process luckily this wasn’t the case it just bent a little.
Well now i have 1 dead switch a wire that got soldered to the button switch and a broken quick disconnect.
Guess i’ll just have to order a JLF and some OBSF buttons at the end of this month, i knew i should’ve listened to my gutt feelings!
Haven’t bought the stick yet, but is there a way to tell if you have the washer problem without opening up the stick case?
so my stick after 3 month of use, about 15 hours a week of use has finally died. no buttons work, including ps home, including start/select, and joystick is dead. i have a ps3 one so it isn’t the xbox breakaway cable problem.
just sent it in to madcatz as i’m leaving a month vacation so not having the stick for a month is fine with me since i’m out. BUTTTTT…what i was wondering is, has anyone sent in the stick and had similar problems reoccur.
what i’m asking is anyone have reoccurring problems after sending it in. talking about stick dying, not minor wear and tear issues like dying or unresponsive buttons which is from use of the cheapy madcatz buttons.
I’m having a weird version of the “stuck joystick” problem, and I’m wondering if anyone can relate. My stick broke (left wouldn’t work) so I contacted MadCatz. They sent me a new stick saying I could replace it myself. I did, and the new one works.
EXCEPT that all directions get stuck for maybe 0,25 seconds (=my character walks/ducks for about 0,25 seconds more after I release the stick) whenever I push the joystick in that direction for about 0,5 seconds and then release. Only then. If I quickly tap the joystick in any direction and then release, my character stops immediately. If I push the joystick for about 1 second or longer and then release, my character stops immediately. It’s only when I push the joystick for almost exactly 0,5 seconds that the direction “sticks” for a little while.
It’s really annoying to have this issue on my replacement joystick, so I’m wondering what you guys think I should do. Is it faulty, and is it the washer problem? It seems weird that the joystick only gets “stuck” when I push it for a specific amount of time.
I’m having the RT/Roundhouse issue with my TE that some others were experiencing. (Stops functioning until you unplug and replug the stick)
I called Madcatz Tech support this morning to explain my issue. He insists that it was probably a dirty button and wanted to send me a guide on how to clean the buttons.
sigh
Yes, I did mention that I had JUST GOTTEN THE STICK YESTERDAY.
I suppose I’m just going to return it to Gamestop and continue playing with my Hori EX2s
So today my directionals just died on me today. Up, down, left right, just completely dead on me. Tried multiple different sticks in it (JLF, original SE stick) and the same results, nothing.
Funny thing is that it was working perfectly fine yesterday, what the heck happened I wonder?
This happen to anyone else at all?
I’ve just got my SE and have been noticing that I seem to have to almost ride the gate to get at the diagonals whereas the normal directions seem to take less movement to get to them.
Is this normal for sticks or is there something wrong with it? (I’m asking because I keep reading about people being told not to ride the gate here but the diagonal seems pretty close to it)
I am using the default square gate and thanks for any answers.
My goddamn RT button is sticking, only if i press it in the top half of the button tho.
which is annoying because that’s just the part of the button that i use with my ring finger to press the HK … really annoying really, i sense some new buttons are in the order tbh… cheap tacking build, not worth $70
but i suppose the ease of Modding makes that worth it
Just ordered my SE finally. I think its safe to assume I’ll be finding issues with my stick as well.
I’d really like to know what the failure rate is of these sticks or what percentage of them suffer from defects. So much for Madcatz addressing all the issues. I heard the newer builds were better, but it doesn’t seem so.
It seems like they still have a decent amount of em that are still being shipped defective (dead buttons, washer problem)
i got mines from amazon today, and it worked well, then the left movement stopped responding, then the turbo stopped, i looked inside of it, everything LOOKED good, so i closed it back up(will that void my warranty?) and it still didnt work.
yup. you opened it, so your warranty is voided. you could replace the stick (if that’s the issue) but if the pcb is already scratched, and you opened it, you have a much bigger problem on your hands.
oh nvm, i popped it open, this had to be sitting in a warehouse 4 a while cause it was real dusty, i cleaned it, and it works good as new now.
my RT keeps dying. my warranty is gone. i’m fucked. guess i’ll have to buy a pcb from someone on the trading outlet thread.
