SF4 Standard Edition FightStick - Problem / Defect Thread

so the washer still isnt fixed? how do you fix it? does it even matter because im going to put a new joystick in it

I JUST got my SE stick in about 5 minutes ago. Opened up the box, the washer is completely loose, and the buttons feel cheap as hell… $80 for this? WTF?!? I’m contemplating returning this thing and just spending the money on a TE stick.

Honestly, new stick and buttons are the way to go with the SE. I’m replacing them very soon.

How easy is it to replace the stick? I have a modded Hori PSX stick that has a sanwa JLF in it. Is it easy to pull this stick out and just pop it into the MadCatz SE? I know the buttons are easy to swap but the stick has me concerned…

Guys, dunno if you heard the news but apparently Madcats took care of the washer problem for their later batches. It seems like it anyway.

How many of you guys bought it with the washer stuck in place? Hope its the majority of you at least.

Also, if I were to get a SE stick with a non-moving washer, would it still be necessary to swap the stick with a Sanwa JLF? I mean is it really that big of a difference?

got my se . washer was loose

Just got my SE today, my first arcade stick ever to forgive the noob assessment. So far I’m pleasantly surprised with the quality. As mentioned many times before the case is of a good weight and the buttons and stick seem to be functioning. I’m curious though as to what I should be on the look out for with regards to this washer issue. I played on it for about 4 hours today and I didn’t get a sense of this sticking problem. I guess I’m just looking for a clarification on this sticking problem, does the stick actually stay locked in a position?

It can, yes, but if the washer is rubbing against the PCB, it’s also slowly wearing down the contacts. If it gets too bad, the stick might stop registering altogether. Fixing the washer (simply gluing it into place) is super easy.

MarkMan posted in another thread that the new batches of SE’s have fixed the washer problem – they’re still loose but that’s OK, they don’t grind down the PCB anymore.

ok… im sorry if someone had this problem or has allready asked this question, but i wasn’t going to read everyone’s posts for this thread to find my answer… atleast i didnt make a brand new thread for my question right??

well… one day i am finishing up modding my SE… i was so excited screwing the bottom part back on to try out my new and improved SE. as i was screwing the last screw in, i accidently dropped my SE from my lap onto the floor.

once i picked it up, i noticed that the joystick was slightly cocked to the left. i played around with it and noticed there was no defect in the stick, so i opened it up again to see what was up. once my stick was opened i noticed that the top left corner of the mounting bracket (the part that you screw the joystick down to) was popped up.

my question is… can i solder that corner down and have it back to normal, or do i need to weld it down?

thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide!

^ … so no one on here can help me?.. ^

I think all you need is a new Sanwa JLF-P1 Mounting Plate, you can get em at Lizard Lick.

the mounting plate is fine… its the metal part that is welded/soldered to the box, that you screw the mounting plate on to, that has a corner popped up. (my friend said it is called a “mounting bracket”)

i am trying to figure out if that metal piece was welded or soldered down to the box, before i broke it, so i can either solder or weld it back down the the box.

I need a little help. Opened up the fightstick to replace the stick. But I can’t unscrew the ball top. I used a flathead to keep the ball from rotating with the stick but when it turns it doesn’t get loser nor does it get tighter… Am I somehow doing it wrong? I’ve tried turning it both ways for a good amount of turns but it doesn’t come off. Which way do you guys turn it to get it off?

look in the video
it’s not only turning the ball to get it off.

thanks for the vid, but I did that. and the ball doesn’t come loose, it just keeps spinning…i may have a dumb ball. =(

^… please help me!..^
