SF4 Standard Edition FightStick - Problem / Defect Thread

MadCatz will reportedly fix modded SE sticks, warranty voiding sticker be damned. Call them.

Hey Im having an issue with my SE stick. My issue tho dosent seem to be the Stick getting suck but rather the buttons not responding.
Both middle and high kick are craping out on me. Im wondering if this is something that can be fixed without buying new buttons, or should i get buttons and fix the damm thing.

There is also the option ofreturning it to mad catz but then ill be out of a stick for a nice while
anyone got some tips on this crappy issue

You need new buttons no matter what, because that shit has to come out for your own sanity. Buy new buttons from a place with a quick shipping schedule (Modchipman), and try your luck first. Beats the hell out of letting MadCatz have it for a couple of weeks.

I figured as much
thanks for the tips

Are you serious?! This is good news because I was worried something might be wrong with my main PCB!!

Wait, is Madcatz seriously fixing broken sticks that have already been opened up? I did the washer fix on my stick, but now there is a problem (isolated to the main PCB) with my RB button. As it is a PCB problem, I don’t believe that I can fix it myself.

I want to send it to Madcatz, but since I already voided the warranty, I thought that I couldn’t. Does anyone have any actual experience where Madcatz fixed an opened stick? If I call them, should I straight up tell them that I opened it, or just like put the washer back in and tell them that I didn’t?

I have the same problem. Fucking Mad Catz why didn’t I buy a Hori…:annoy:

There are users that have told MadCatz that they opened the sticks to do a washer fix or change parts, and then the main PCB went down. MadCatz told them to send the stick in and fixed it for them by swapping out the PCB. I don’t have specific thread citations, but do a search about MadCatz RMA and modded SE to find the stories for yourself.

Cool, I found a topic where someone says that they swapped their joystick and buttons and still got the RMA. I am going to call Madcatz on Monday about the issue.

Wow, it’s gotten this bad?

Fuck that, I’m buying Hori.

anyone know what size nuts and screws are on the mounting plate to the stick itself? i kinda stripped them out while trying to swap them with the sanwa stick that i have so im rolling on 3.

also can you guys tell me where i can find em!

thnx!

I hope this is all true because from what i’m hearing, just not fixing the joystick and buttons will be all good to go. My friend’s stick just completely won’t turn on and we tried all the ideas we can think of, this is also with all buttons and stick swapped.

If someone finds what we need to do to get this fixed, please post findings!
Thanks!

M3 machine screws and nuts mate.

Is there any reason my SE Fightstick isn’t working with MAME32? My custom stick is working fine, and the Fightstick is showing up as responsive and working in Control Panel, but MAME32 just doesn’t seem to recognize any inputs.

edit: still don’t know what the problem was, but upgrading to the most recent MAME version fixed it.

will replacement buttons fix problem?

my HP button is really inconsistant and sometimes fails to register. I plan on swapping out all of my buttons for sanwa ones. Will this fix the problem or is it a problem with the actual machine that is causing this? I know all cases are different but I would like some advice.

just switch the joystick to JLF, ?

thanks

do you happen to know where can i buy these screws?

Can anyone update with the modded fightstick and still got MCZ to cover for the messed up PCB?

does anyone know if the new batch of SE sticks fixes the problems?

Ace Hardware also reportedly carries them.
