I tried called madcatz today. Some IVR told me they weren’t in/taking phone calls.
Man. This fucking sucks.

I dont know if this was asked/answered already but…
Is there another way to get to the “Washer” without trying to unscrew the nail with the overshield? I returned my first Stick because the screws wouldnt come off. I dont wanna make the same mistake again.
Remove the restrictor plate, remove the pcb, remove the e-clip and all the guts come out. The mounting plate isn’t supposed to come off. Even if you did take it off you aren’t going to see much.
Man, I got mine today and mine sticks too. I’m not sure what you guys mean by sticks, but sometimes I’ll be playing and I can’t jump backwards (independent of the direction I’m facing) or I can’t block if I’m on the right side. Really disappointed by that. Otherwise, the buttons work flawlessly and the stick seems fine if it didn’t come with that damn defect. I want to open it and I think I saw MadCatz doesn’t care anymore about that with the SE, but I’m still on the fence about it. Does anyone know if I can open it and still have warranty coverage because it’s an SE?
Both of my HRAP3s are modded with screw-in buttons.
They fit perfectly.
No filing is required.
My MC FS on the other hand…
My SE Fight Stick stopped registering down. If I replace this with a new Sanwa joystick will this fix the problem? Also this happened in under 10 hours of use.
I got my stick today. I think it works fine, but all these posts are getting me scared.
What am I to look for in seeing a defective stick? I move it around in every direction, no grinding. It snaps back to neutral alright. I don’t think it’s sticking, and I think it’s detecting all my inputs.
However, I don’t have any games to test it on my PS3. I have CvS2 for PS2 that I was hoping on going a few rounds in to break this badboy in, but there’s no backwards compatibility. It seems to work ok in emulators, but I’m going to play some more to make sure it’s still groovy.
Basically what I’m asking is, am I one of the lucky ones? How fast did the people having problems notice them? Right out of the box, or did it take a few hours?
Wait a sec, are you saying the stick is not compatible with ps2 games or your ps3 isnt? cuz im gonna be pissed if it doesnt wrok on my launch-day PS3 (formerly 60gb, now 500gb)
The STICK isn’t. My PS3 can play PS2 games just fine (80gb). Basically, the stick won’t turn on for PS2 games.
So GS said they’d be willing to take back my defective ass stick. Placing my order for a HRAPEX off amazon now. Best of luck to the rest of you.
After playing with it more, I think my stick is ok. However, I can’t do dragon punches with 100% efficiency. I can do hurricanes and hadokens 100% (so it’s not a matter of 1 side being busted), and I can even do standing 360s. It’s just dragon punches that don’t work. Hadokens come out half of the time. Of course, it could be because I’m playing it on an emulator, or it’s just all in my head, given the paranoia that this thread has given me.
I’m borderline thinking of just sticking a Seimitsu stick in there just to sleep better at night.
aww crap. I was hoping I could play my CVS2 and 3rd Strike with it. dammit. Here’s hoping that those 2 make it on a PSN release. alpha3 and Marvel2 have ESRB listings for Ps3, so I guess that will soften the blow
I’m having the exact same problem… I thought it might be emulator lag, so I hooked it up to STHD, and I could DP 100% of the time, it was rediculous how well it was working.
Then I plugged it back in to my PC for 3rd Strike, and my special move accuracy went down again. Not sure what’s up.
I’m thinking it’s emulator lag, too. I wish I could test it out on a real game on a console, but since my CvS2 isn’t working with this, and the game comes out tomorrow…I guess that’ll be the real test.
My Gamecrazy is getting them in tomorrow, but only for pre-orders. If they have any extras on sale, I’m hoping to snag one of those. Ugh…I hate rolling the dice on these.
Fixed my stick and I’m still having DP problems on my emulator as well. Hopefully it is emulator lag and not some PCB issue.
15 min. training mode
Stick was stuck when I moved back
5 min. later I completed my order for sanwa parts
mad catz…with a Z on cats of all things!
You know what fuck this shit! :annoy:
My stick has been sticking and grinding too (no homo). The money you use to mod it costs as much as the TE one so I’ll probably buy that one later on or HRAP3. I’m going to take it back in and use the money to buy Resident Evil 5
In Windows XP, I’m checking it out in the game controller calibration window and I’m actually surprised at how sensitive these sticks are. But since you’ve fixed yours, and you’re still having DP problems I think it’s safe to say it’s emulator lag…for now.
I mean, we’re all decent fighters, right? Not scrubs who can’t do charge buffering or anything. When we want to Dragon Punch, we dragon punch! So hopefully it’s not us just sucking.
On a seperate note, I can do DP’s till the cows come home on keyboard (just don’t ask me to 720).
LOL, this guy’s hilarious, i feel his pain. I don’t understand why people think it’s a good idea to open the stick and void the warranty on a clearly defectively designed product, instead of returning it.
Just take it back, don’t try to fix it, don’t try to switch out the parts (unless you bought it for the purpose of modding it). Why people would think it’s a good idea to waste even more money on a broken product is beyond me.
I’ve been having issues doing DP’s with the stick, but I just attribute this to not being used to Square gates. I can do fireballs eternally, and can even do half circle moves perfectly. (Chun’s Kikouken in 3s for instance).
For the DP, I literally have to tap the corner for it to come off. There is no other way. I have to go forward, straight down, then move it till it touches the bottom corner for it to come out. Seems like a very exaggerated motion for something that should be pretty quick.
This can’t be the sticks fault though, it just can’t be. It’s just gotta be either inexperience with the stick itself, or perhaps it’s just too much throw in the stick causing a higher learning curve than there should be. (LS-32-01 needs to come in quick.)
