Markman since you are posting in this thread. Just a quick question on the TE design.
All the buttons but the bottom button closest to the joystick can be swapped out with a button with a screw on plastic nut.
The one button that is closest to the joystick has to have its nut sanded down for it to work. Why did you guys make that choice when you knew people were going to be heavily modding it,and you pimped the stick as being easy to mod.
Not attacking,just a question.
The other question is are you disapointed that the gamepad and SE stick owners are having so many problems with faulty products?
Actually we were repeatedly told this was not the same old madcatz and they were committed to quality this time. When people first heard madcatz the expectations were in fact very low and those expectations were changed by all the hype from various prominent members of the community and game media.
Personally I swore off madcatz after one of their shoddy ps2 memory cards erased itself randomly. But i was all set to give em one more try here until all these defect stories started rolling in.
It’s pretty clear that Markman has the best intentions here but there’s only so much he can do.
Hopefully the turn around time for you guys with broken sticks isn’t too long and we’ll all be playing SF4 before too long.
My A button is stuck, well not really completely stuck, it still works but not as responsive as the other buttons. Is there a way to fix it without buying new buttons?
Nobody seems to know for sure, so I’ll ask the man himself! I ordered a JLF-TP-8T. I was wondering if it was necessary to rotate the PCB so it would work on the SE, making the stick a JLF-TP-8YT? I’m just worried about removing the screws from the mounting plate and stripping them so if I could avoid that I’ll just throw it in the case the way it is.
Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the stick after swaping the parts out. I really want to keep mine but it has some issues with a couple of the buttons becoming unresponsive for a couple minutes and then coming back to life. I was planning on replacing the stick and buttons with sanwa parts but if its a pcb problem then I dont wanna hassle with it I’ll just by an hrap ex
Yea i had to drive out to Tinley park for mine! I went ahead and glued it down last night I’ll play with it when i get home from work. I Order the JLF from lizard lick last night also, hope it’s here by wednesday…
For all the folks who have gotten access to the washer, have you tried using the stick without the washer in place? Does it look like it serves any importance? I was thinking that since it moves around, it doesn’t really do anything but create space between the body and the PCB, so would it be okay to just remove the washer entirely?
I’ll be buying this stick in the next couple of days or so with the intention of immediately gluing down that washer to prevent any PCB damage as I wont be able to order a Sanwa for another couple of weeks. But if I can remove it all together and still have a working stick, that would be awesome.
I already ordered the Sanwa parts since I was going to mod it to start with.I ordered the stick online and it would be a total pain the ass to replace.
I have a fightpad to hold me over, but yea this is some bs.A few hours of play and thats the result :\
"Christian Svensson commented on the Unity Boards today about the problems a few users have experienced with the Standard Edition FightSticks. He also cleared up the availability of the Tournament Edition joysticks and what’s up with Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
Here are his comments.
Are all of the Standard Edition Mad Catz sticks bad or only certain ones?
Sven: It’s just a few (we have a couple dozen, none [have] problems I’m aware of). Most are fine.
It seems a few came off the line with the issues people are referring to. Mad Catz has already given directives to the factory to watch for the issue so future ones should not have the problem.
*Are the Tournament Edition FightSticks here to stay? Or are they going for a ‘Limited Edition’ type of run? Daemon Gildas *
Sven: There will be more shipping over the next couple months. Not tons, not an unlimited supply, but “more.”
*I know you said you were thinking about it, but is a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom localization still being looked at? What would the chances be of cutting out the Tatsunoko characters and replacing them with another license? Carlnunz *
Sven: If Tatsunoko vs. Capcom comes over, it will be as TvC, not a different property. That said, I’ve got no new news at this time. Sorry."
I hope it’s true that future sticks won’t have these problems. Fingers crossed.

I hope that is true that only some have this issue, but many people on this forum has been hit with this and only a few were lucky they were not
I don’t know much about the insides of sticks, but is this “washer” issue a real problem? Can it be resolved by simply replacing the current stick with a JLF?
I personally wouldn’t “blame” the idiots, as the EX2 worked JUST FINE out of the box, hence getting what you paid for. I will agree that if you plan on modding it right off the bat then even a broken fightstick is worth your money, but there are a ton of people who didn’t plan on buying new parts, at least not immediately (me included). Your opinion is completely off-base.
