SF4 Stability Bars

I think a visual representation is a good idea. A lot of people coming out from caves to play this wouldn’t know what the ping # represents (or younger kids.) We don’t want people running around looking for higher ping, since higher numbers usually mean a good thing in games.

Also, it can be annoying when people start throwing around blame for ping.

Now, if only the visual representation was actually done right. Like in Starcraft, where there can be something like 10 bars total to represent the worst connection, and 1-3 green bars to show a nice connection (and it’s usually accurate, unless someone is downloading a map and it usually shows them as lagging until they are done).

I switched back to using wired just because I keep getting booted out of the lobbies for not having a “good connection.” Even though as others have posted, most of the time playing someone with no bars is as good as it is going to get online.

But the average amount of bars I see now, is the same as before. Sigh. At least my mic is better now, upgraded from the eyetoy to the PS3 headset, even though I don’t use mic’s much. :stuck_out_tongue:

The worst is when I see a green bar player but can’t connect due to lobby being full then I never see them again. :frowning: Overall I think I’ve only seen green bars half a dozen times though. What’s really annoying is when I connect to friends in NYC who are maybe 1 mile away but the lag is noticeable (3 bars). I need to doublecheck to make sure my router is still in DMZ zone for PS3

In my limited experience so far, the number of bars isn’t a very good measurement of how laggy the match will be. I’ve had 4 bar lagfest matches, and 0 bar lagless matches.

Much like the rest of you, I’ve found that the bar representation is rather misleading.

Most of the matches I find are 3 bar, and some play out just dandy. I strive for 4 bar matches and a good handful have just been bad.

I’ve performed all the port forwarding requirements, created a DMZ and installed my game…but still no magical green connection.

One day…

I’ve played people with only 2 bars and there was very little lag. So I think 3 bars is good enough.

I’ve never seen green bars either. Glad to hear it isn’t only me.

mics/ blutooth cause lag. seriously. if you’re hosting & you’ve noticed lag, turn off your talking device & choose low detail maps. It helps a lot.
pressing START a lot can drop a game.
talking a lot on your mic can drop a game.

i got 4 bars playing whit ppl from my country (Brazil) ,3 bars whit southamerica,2 bars whit north america, europe and japan 1 bar or less,i saw more than one guy whit no bars

i had ONE time where i had all 5 green bars. I was so happy

then he disconnected when the match started

ive never had/seen green… its hard to believe i’ve had mass amount of matches and 4 bars is the max…
