I play the people who blink usually because for some reason everyone with bars ends up not letting me connect then I have to research for matches. I havent had really bad lag except for like 4 matches. Seems to work fine for me. The 5 bar g is an allusive one to find :stuck_out_tongue:

i had a 5 (green bar MAtch)

then it disconnected before we reached the char select screen.

i have a 50 mega bits per second internet connection and lag is very very rareā€¦i saw 5 bars everytime i play against my pal living at 30seconde of my house and thats it,i never lagged on a no bars(no signal) match,sometime i lag with 4bars,thats mean the guy downloads alot of porn in my option,when i lag i force quit after 1st round but 90% of the game i played online i cant notice lag at all.And Jesus know i played alot of matchs online.

im on PSN btw.

PS:if you share you internet connection or your on a wireless internet connection this doenst help.

My smoothest games are ones with no bars and the flashing icon. 1-2 bars = junk. 3-4 bars = good, occasional hiccup.

I never seen 5 bars either, i get a few 4 bars but mostly i get the 3 bar and below.

at a tournament I entered at an Internet Cafe place or whatever and they had system links on 360ā€™s and had each system on itā€™s own LCD tv and they were linked up and it had 5 bars. Iā€™m assuming thatā€™s the only way to truely have a 5 bar connection is when itā€™s directly next to you :rofl:

I have never seen green. Closest was yellowā€¦and that was once.

Is there a more elegant way to search for matches than just mashing square and looking for a decent number of bars on each result? Generally seems random who I end up playing, and if thereā€™s 0 bars, I have no idea where they are because thereā€™s no map or flags like GGPO.

Also is it possible to blow up the font size somehow in the matchmaking area? The font is so small that on a non-HDTV, itā€™s almost impossible to read peoplesā€™ names. And my TVā€™s not even bad.

That is how I gauge it. Green bars are impossible as the interwebs will not allow such a color

I played a dude from NY had 4 bars and it was laggy as all HELL! Then played a dude with 1 red bar and I noticed no lag (this dude had language set for French so who knows where he was playing from). Now I am located in South Carolina and this dude is in NY so it seems like it would make some sense to have a more laggy free battle with him. Oh well canā€™t wait for Championship edition.

yep, iā€™m on PSN europe and i get virtually lag-free matchups with players who have ā€˜0ā€™ bars and sometimes i get 0.5fps against 2/3 bars. i may end up getting the game on 360 if this is simply a PSN issue- but hey, iā€™m on a 2mb connection so i guess i cant complain

Iā€™ve only seen maybe 5 4 bars, and Iā€™ve never seen a 5 bar. Itā€™s like everytime I get on all I can find are no bar and 1 bar games, it drives me crazy. Plus I have the game installed and I have a pretty good connection, so thats not it.

my roommate just got a ps3 and sf4 so we decided to play and bam! 5 bar connection lol but our systems are about more then 15 feet apart since heā€™s in the room directly above mine lol.

I believe the poster is incorrect about the flashing bars. Iā€™ve gotten great connections with them too, flashing with no bars. I beleive this is caused by the person using a router which doesnt return pings. Anybody who plays online should set their router to return pings so we can get an accurate gauge of latency before beginning a match.

The bars are usually 50/50 when indicating about the connection you have with someone.

Iā€™ve played some people who have 4 bar connections but their was crazy lag.
So iā€™m thinking they live closer to me (low ping) but have a weak connection/ISP.

QFT, at least for me. Sometimes 2 bars is alright, but flashing seems to be very deceptive imo. My worst lag spikes tend to be the stupid 1 bars. Had better matches against someone from Korea (or at least he set his language to Korean) than English.

iā€™ve seen 5 bars before. iā€™ve played plenty of matches with 2 or less bars that were flawless. iā€™ve also played 3-4 bar matches that lagged horribly. itā€™s just a total crap-shoot and i REALLY hope Capcom can fix this with a patch soon.
