Here are a couple I’ve been working on: Mr. Fantastic (Dhalsim) and the Invisible Woman (Cammy) from the Fantastic Four. I used transparency to make Cammy fade out toward her boots and I made her wrist guards totally transparent just because i thought it looked cool. For Dhalsim, I’ve made much of his costume transparent already, but I can’t figure out how to make his wrist/ankle rings and earrings transparent. Until that time, he works perfectly with the costume file from the Ghandi mod.
For both of these, all of the transparency comes from the *.col.emz file, so they’re compatible with other mods.

Mind teaching how transparency is done with individual col.emz files? Or pinpointing an exact location as to how it is done? I’ve been looking through the forum but haven’t found anything concrete on how to do this.

Couple Notes: Tried to remove the tie, but couldn’t remove it without removing the collar so I was screwed and had to leave it there. Put the X Emblem on her belt, for added coolness. And, replaces alternate costume color 5, sorry I couldn’t import it to the first costume.
May work on this a bit more, or I may move onto making a Yoko Rittona Costume for Cammy even though there are a lot of cammy mods out there, need some fresh ideas. XD
thanks for the encouragement, fellas. I intend to do Thing Zangief as coco_j suggested, but I’m not sure if I can pull off a respectable Human Torch. I considered using Seth for one, but Ken has the vfx for it…

mostly just in the last couple of pages. I’ll give you a quick rundown, though:
It’s basically a 2-part process: editing the .dds textures and then hex-editing the .col.emz file.
For the first part, most (all?) of the textures (represented by the .dds files) contain what is called an ‘alpha’ channel, which is used for transparency. Transparency is represented by the black and gray checker pattern that you’ve probably come across while erasing things in the .dds files. So, just edit the file in Photoshop or GIMP with whatever areas erased that you want semi- or fully transparent, save as you would any .dds texture (DXT5, create mipmaps, etc) and infuse the texture back into the .dat file and rename it to *.col.emz.
Then, open that *.col.emz file with your hex editor of choice. Each of the character’s body elements will have its own section where its attributes are represented in codes (skull, neck ring, body skin, etc. for Dhalsim). To enable the alpha channel in each section, you can replace any of the 40-character subsections that start with “Brush” (e.g., BrushA, BrushB, etc.) with the commands for transparency that are mentioned in this post:

Now, the tricky part is that you CANNOT change the size (i.e., number of characters) in the file, so be careful as you replace. I had good luck with replacing BrushA, BrushB, and BrushC with the combination of AlphaBlend, AlphaBlendTest, and BackFace for partial transparency and gradients and AlphaTest for full transparency.
It’s a tedious process made much easier with find+replace. In my experience, it’s okay to put the transparency command into ALL sections, as it will only affect empty spots (black and gray checkerboard pattern) anyway. Someone may correct me on that, but it’s worked for me so far…

Have you tried copying kens vfx.emz (and maybe the bvs as well) into seth’s folder and renaming them? I talked a little bit about this before, and if it’s flames you’re looking for, this might be your answer?
That Rock Howard is indeed different from the Terry Bogard mod. It is not on the wiki too. Seems like digging was good at all.
